Avatar f tn In my experiences (I have had about 10 surgeries for cysts) that complex cysts do not go away. If it was a simple cyst, I would say do the 6 week wait and see, but being complex and your family history of ovca, I would insist that something be done. The BRAC tes is a good test to take, but it sounds like your cyst still needs to come out. Keep in mind that we are the only ones who know our bodies. If it is telling us something we need to listen.
Avatar n tn Many women have cysts and never know it because they have no pain and the cysts are functional cysts and go away on their own. I have had those myself. I would follow the doctors advice and check again in one cycle. Good luck!

Avatar f tn In May 2009 I had what I thought was a sore ovary on the left side. I went to the OB/GYN and he did a pelvic exam and there wasn't any tenderness. He went ahead and sent me for a vaginal ultrasound and the results came out as having a 3cm cyst on the right ovary. I thought this was crazy because I wasn't having any pain on the right side at all. (We finally found out that the left side pain was caused by a swollen lymph node from shaving.) The Dr.
Avatar m tn I just found out I have an ovarian cyst, 5cm in diameter, and I'm not sure what to do about it. I don't feel my doctor told me a whole lot, but she just said it will probably go away in 6-8 weeks. However, the reason I came to her in the first place is because for the last 3 months I've had pelvic pain, pain during sex, unexplained weight gain (I'm a celiac, so I keep a very balanced diet), and IBS symptoms reminiscent of the days before I was diagnosed with being a celiac.

Avatar n tn There are several different kinds, and treatment varies. Some, they just watch as they usually go away on their own. Some kinds need to come out. Others can be treated with hormones to suppress ovarian activity. Most ovarian cyst removel involves removing the ovary, and they don't want to do this unless it is necessary.
Avatar n tn When I have ovarian cysts, they cause the same pain you described and cause constipation and sometimes affect urination. When my varian cysts burst, i get a pain and pressure that travels down to my rectum and the pain will stay for a few hours and then finally go away slowly.. I’m sadly used to the pain as i get it almost every month now but the first time sent me to the ER.
Avatar f tn Majority of women do experience ovarian cysts and they generally do go away on their own without any damage. Caution that if it is on the larger size then it could rupture or twist in which you will experience extreme pain. If this happens it is an emergent situation and you need to go to the ER. Many women find that they need to get second and third opinions in order to get answers they need from someone they trust.
1697367 tn?1306700619 Well for me, I know I have to be on birth control for 3 months consecutively for the cyst to go away. Hopefully for you, as you're TTC that wont be the case!
Avatar f tn She said that normally if the cyst is 5cm big they do laparoscopic surgery but she gave me 2 options to get on birth control and see if the cyst will shrink using the BC she gave and do another ultrasound in 3months or the worst is do the laparoscopic surgery if it doesnt go away. My Gyne appointment was just this monday and he mention that i might have endometriosis aside from the darn ovarian cyst too.
Avatar f tn Hello, I really need advice. Quick history. I'm 28 have congenital absence of left ovary. Also had 2 episodes of right ovarian torsion and had 2 surgeries to release the torsion. Now I'm TTC for 2 years and no results:( Went to RE, they gave me 3 month of clomid. I ovulated but didn't get pregnant so we decided go for IVF. On base ultrasound they found 2 simple cysts on my right ovary. One is 6 sm and other 4 sm. pretty big ones.
Avatar f tn Did you have a scan to determine if you have visible cysts? Most cysts go away on their own. If this persists for you, you may want to talk to you doctor about the possibility of your having an underlying condition like PCOS or endometriosis. But, even with these conditions, the majority of women are still able to conceive. I struggled with cysts since my teens and had my first surgery for an ovarian cyst when I was only 15.
564029 tn?1216423219 There are different types of cysts, you can go to the link on the top of this page on the right that says health forum, and there is a list for all types of ovarian cysts. Did your dr. tell you what kind of cyst you have? Have you had a TV/US? During your reproductive years it is very common to get functional ovarian cysts that can disappear after a few menstrual cycles. Could it be your doctor is doing a watchful waiting to see if they go away? How long have you had the cyst?
Avatar n tn I agree with Cindy that it is very unlikely to be Ovarian Cancer. However, young girls do get cysts. Actually cysts are very very common in young premenopausal women and 95 % benign. You may want to check the top right of this page; "Health Pages" . It has a lot of information about cysts . Of course we don't know if she even has cysts. And.. we're not Drs. here.. She really needs to be seen my by a Gyn. It could be one of many things.
1973052 tn?1332868276 Most ovarian cysts go away on their own. An estimate is to wait about 2 to 3 menstrual cycles. Your doctor may prescribe oral contraceptives to help disintegrate the cyst on ovary. 95% of ovarian cysts are benign (non cancerous). Surgery becomes necessary when there is a chance of the ovarian cyst rupturing, some abnormality in the cyst, cancer, the cyst doesn’t go away or grows, and other complications.
Avatar f tn Hello Sorry to hear about the cyst it does sound like your CA 125 is slightly elevated but that is also due to the ovarian cyst. I had an ovarian cyst about a month ago and they placed me on birth control pills which i would not consider due to it messing up your cycle but also the cyst can sometimes goes away by itseld after you usually get your period but that all do determined the size. But as for the elevated results i would agree with OzBron about the endometriosis.
Avatar f tn what is the largest ovarian cysts reported and can it make you look pregnant... sassyk.
Avatar n tn I have ovarian cysts and was diagnosed years ago with endometriosis. I don't want surgery the cyst has decreased in size, sometime complex sometimes cyst. My periods come and go. I thought they went away but noticed sometimes I stain or have a pd for 1/2 day or 1/2 hr. What would you do as I made it sound to my gyn I don't get periods and she mentioned I don't have to call everytime if I don't get periods.
Avatar f tn I am 16 years old, I was diagnosed with ovarian cysts after many times to the hospital in may. I've been to my OB several of times. But everytime I go she kinda brushes off my symptoms. I'm having fatigue, low energy, frequent headaches, back pain, hip pain, and of course low abdominal pain. I'm also in constant pain, at times it gets worse.
Avatar f tn Complex and neoplasm are more general terms but are typically indicative of cysts that do not go away on their own. However, imaging such as ultrasound are not exact. So they cannot always tell the type of cyst on imaging. The size oftentimes dictates treatment. When cysts are on the small side, the standard is to schedule another ultrasound to see if it has grown, shrunk or gone away. The large majority of cysts do resolve on their own in 2-3 months, no intervention / surgery needed.
Avatar f tn Hello, I am 23 years old and I am 35wks pregnant . I am due February 4th. I have a 9cm cyst on my left ovary. My OBGYN suggest surgery after the delivery due to the fact she thinks it's at the point to were it won't go away on its own. I really do not want surgery. I'm thinking if I just want maybe two months after I have my son will it go away then??? Can some help out with feedback with experience???
Avatar n tn Mostly they are symptomless But Ovarian cysts can, however, cause problems if they twist, bleed, or rupture. Most ovarian cysts will go away on their own. One of the most effective treatments for ovarian cysts is use of contraceptive pills or progesterone pills. It can also be treated surgically and this procedure is known as drilling. Other modes of treatment are laparoscopic surgery, laparotomy or surgery for complicated ovarian cysts.
Avatar n tn It can be so many things. Ovarian cysts do cause this type of pain, but so can menstruation and ovulation. Any new or persistent pain warrants a trip to your gynecologist to find the reason. If the pain is severe, don't hesitate to go to urgent care. Most causes of this type of pain are benign and go away on their own. But, you don't want to endure a stabbing pain that persists without been checked. I hope you feel better soon!
Avatar m tn I'm 23 years old. and until now I had 5 times ovarian dermoid cysts that had been removed by laparoscopia surgery. the size of the cysts are usually between 5-12 cm. sometimes I had more than 1 cyst at the same time (it means 3 cysts that had been removed all together by surgery). I had 2 emergency surgeries because the cysts circled my ovary. Right now I have 11 cm ovarian cyst. This is the 6 time I need to take the cysts out by surgery. what can I do in order to prevent it?
