Avatar f tn Mostly they are symptomless But Ovarian cysts can, however, cause problems if they twist, bleed, or rupture. Most ovarian cysts will go away on their own. One of the most effective treatments for ovarian cysts is use of contraceptive pills or progesterone pills. It can also be treated surgically and this procedure is known as drilling. Other modes of treatment are laparoscopic surgery, laparotomy or surgery for complicated ovarian cysts.
Avatar f tn s nothing to worry about, mine was 6cm on my right side, I felt pain through my first trimester but once the baby got bigger it went away
Avatar f tn In October I went to the ER for excruciating pain in my right side. I thought it was my appendix. A CT scan showed I had a 6x3x3 cm cyst in my left ovary so that lead them to believe I had one rupture on my right side to cause the pain. I'm usually 115lbs, have been for years. I work out regularly and I eat well. I had noticed weight gain over the last few months but I attested it to stress and lack of sleep.
Avatar n tn Then i went in a month later out of severe pain in my lower admonin. the pain has increased and wont go away. i have bad headaches with this, lower back pain, ive lost 20 pounds in about a month to 2 months, i have to urinate ALL the time and they already treated me for a UTI but i still pee like crazy. then this last period i have had blood clots. and the pain continues. i have never actually seen a doctor, only a nurse practitioner.
Avatar n tn Hi Marisa, You've had a tough time and I'm sorry. 95% of all ovarian cysts are benign. Complex cysts raise a little bit more of a red flag but can still be benign. Somewhere on this page ( I think Sharon just posted it again) is a wonderful pamphlet that will explain in great detail about cysts. Hopefully, it will help you understand your situation. If you trust your doctor, I would follow his or her advice about surgery.
Avatar f tn Majority of women do experience ovarian cysts and they generally do go away on their own without any damage. Caution that if it is on the larger size then it could rupture or twist in which you will experience extreme pain. If this happens it is an emergent situation and you need to go to the ER. Many women find that they need to get second and third opinions in order to get answers they need from someone they trust.
Avatar n tn After a couple of weeks of antibiotics The pain never went way, he sent me for an ultrasound. everything looked ok on the ultrasound, except a small cyst on my left ovary. He put me on birth control pills but nothing happend i was still having pelvic pain. He sent me to see a colon specialist and a colonoscopy was done and everything looked ok. A laparoscopy was done and he drained several cyst on my left ovary. my laparoscopy was done November 11, 2008.
1973052 tn?1332868276 Most ovarian cysts go away on their own. An estimate is to wait about 2 to 3 menstrual cycles. Your doctor may prescribe oral contraceptives to help disintegrate the cyst on ovary. 95% of ovarian cysts are benign (non cancerous). Surgery becomes necessary when there is a chance of the ovarian cyst rupturing, some abnormality in the cyst, cancer, the cyst doesn’t go away or grows, and other complications.
Avatar f tn In most cases, ovarian cysts are benign, but larger cysts, complex cysts or ones that are causing pain may need to be removed. Often, they can do a minimally invasive laparoscopic procedure with a shorter recovery time and very small incisions. Good luck at your appointment next week! I know that waiting can be hard. I'll keep you my thoughts!
1294482 tn?1354489288 said it could be follicle cyst , i have to now wait up to 2 weeks for the results to be faxed to my dr then discuss what to do. I have NO pain and the only reason I went for a scan was because I havnt had a bleed this month and was on provera and clomid last month and think the clomid may have caused this.
10299247 tn?1409208876 They are ovarian cysts I have had them for about a year now. And if I walk to stand for to long they hurt so bad like really bad cramps only on the left and right side never anywherr else and its always in the same spot.
Avatar f tn After i left the doctors sent a written referal to a gastro doc as it had been going on for so long and was different to my usual ibs symptoms which i have the appointment on Monday.
Avatar n tn Many women have cysts and never know it because they have no pain and the cysts are functional cysts and go away on their own. I have had those myself. I would follow the doctors advice and check again in one cycle. Good luck!
Avatar f tn m not going to give you my advice on that aspect of it but I am a pro when it comes to ovarian cysts, so I will try and shed some light on ovarian cysts for you.. at least the best i can. I myself have had 3 surgeries in the past 2 years regarding ovarian cysts. I have had well over 10 ovarian cysts, 6 of which were removed. Your cyst is very small, I wouldn't worry too much about the ovarian cyst.
Avatar f tn I've been prone to ovarian cysts for 5years and am in near constant pain with them. I've tried different contraceptions, painkillers and keyhole surgery but they always return. My doctor said removing my ovary would be best but im too young- im only 21! My G.P is consulting with his senior for more options but I can't wait. Tests confirm they are abnormal cysts but cannot be operated on almost every month!
Avatar f tn First of all, a little background information... I've just been told I have an ovarian cyst. I've seen my regular doctor twice complaining of abdominal pain, back pain, constipation, pain with sex, and changes in my periods (among other things that led us to investigate my thyroid). After thyroid levels came back within normal range twice, he presumed my symptoms stress or diet related.
1893678 tn?1322008313 Hi guys, I'm new to this website after reading all your supportive posts about having painful ovarian cysts. I'm 17 and I have been having problems with ovarian cysts since I was 16. Last January, I was 16, and I started feeling severe pelvic pain that wrapped around my back. The pain was so severe I laid on the bathroom floor and cried and cried. My mom then took me to my primary doctor who told me it was only a stomach bug and gave me medicine for the vomitting, and 'stomach bug.
Avatar f tn Hey everyone. I'm 25 years old mother to a 5 year old boy! I been having back pain, side pain under rib cage, pressure in my uterus, spikey pain in my ovary/hip area, nausea, and frequent urination. worried sick and feel terribly alone! Any input would be great. My problems with ovarian cysts started this past January where I had a US/TVUS that found a complex cyst the size of a small lemon. My Obgyn was confident it would go away on it's own.
Avatar f tn They can form anywhere in the body. Ovarian cysts (sists) form in or on the ovaries. The most common type of ovarian cyst is a functional cyst. Functional cysts often form during the menstrual cycle. The two types are: Follicle cysts. These cysts form when the sac doesn't break open to release the egg. Then the sac keeps growing. This type of cyst most often goes away in 1 to 3 months. Corpus luteum cysts. These cysts form if the sac doesn't dissolve.
Avatar f tn So, I meet a really wonderful man and when we had sex it was very painful and the bloating, cramping and pain afterward lasted for days, so I go to my OB and they find an ovarian cyst on each ovary. They said "Let's watch it over the course of a few months and see if it goes away on its own or bursts". I agree that's probably fine to do, but I just can't handle intercourse and it's becoming a real strain on this very new relationship.
148258 tn?1220825817 t the extreme bloating and cramping/pain sound much more like ovarian cancer than ovarian small ovarian cysts? I read that in order for ovarian cysts to even cause swelling and bloating they would have to be relatively large.....and I also read that the abdominal swelling is one of the major symptoms of ovarian cancer. I guess my biggest fear is that I'm going to get one of those idiot doctors that tells you everything is fine...
Avatar n tn It makes me so angry when doctors say cysts don't cause pain. Argh!!! In addition to cysts you could also have endometriosis and laparscopic surgery is the best way to deal with this other than going back on the birth control. Good luck with everything.
Avatar n tn As for conceiving with cysts, my cysts went away with birth control. I guarantee that I probably have cysts again, & it only took me my husband and I 2 months to conceive. Also, I'm 14 weeks; both baby & I are 100% healthy.
