Avatar f tn If you were my patient, I would advise you that the depo provera injection is a very good and convenient form of birth control. Many patients use if for years and love it. Often there is some irregular bleeding initially when the shot is first begun, but after that most people don't have much more than infrequent spotting. If you get your shots on time the method is approximately 99% effective. I DO advise my patients to take a calcium supplement while on Depo. Good luck!
Avatar f tn i was on the depo provera twice last year, after the second shot i got chest pains and heart pulputations,i went to docs who rushed me to hospital, all my tests came back fine other than a stressed heart, they sent me home with no answers, now 10 months after my last shot iv only just got my period back but its coming every 8 days and iv still got the chest pains and heart pulputations and im getting sick of it, just wondering how long does it realy take to get fully out of system???
Avatar f tn m outside the normal range of time after stopping Depo Provera to have gotten my periods back. Could Depo be causing these problems or does it sound like something else could be a problem?
Avatar f tn If you were using Depo-Provera it may take longer for your cycles to return to normal. Keep in mind that Depo-Provera is designed to be a long-lasting form of birth control. Even though it is intended to help you avoid pregnancy for up to three months, it may actually prevent pregnancy longer. Depo-Provera is a synthetic hormone similar to progesterone.
Avatar n tn I had been on the depo-provera for a little over 2 years. I decided to stop because i was putting on alot of weight. My local doctor told me to wait 2 months before i could go on the pill. I was due for me needle on the 28th of November and have not gotten it. But i recently had unprotected sex, Could i fall pregnant?
Avatar f tn Recently, Me and My Boyfriend had un-protected sex.. and afterwards i started bleeding. we haven't had sex in a week, what could time be a sign of.. I am on Depo Provera-the birth control shot?
3113005 tn?1341773834 I am little confused by your question. The depo provera shot is given once every three months not for three months at some unspecified interval. If you mean that you received the depo shot 4 months ago, and hence, the last month, you did not get a repeat depo shot, then the answer to your question is, yes, you can get pregnant. I was on the depo shot for about 5 years before stopping to try to conceive. It took me 3 years to conceive my son who is 6 years old.
Avatar f tn Irregular menstrual periods, or no periods at all Headaches Nervousness Depression Dizziness Acne Changes in appetite Weight gain Excessive growth of facial and body hair Hair loss Loss of bone mineral density Most of the side effects are not common. Change in the menstrual cycle is the most common side effect. You may experience irregular bleeding or spotting. After a year of use, about 50% of women will stop getting their periods. Their periods usually return when they discontinue the shots.
Avatar n tn Hello, Irregular bleeding like you describe is a common side effect of Depo Provera. Your girlfriend should have been counseled about this possibility when initiated on the medication. If she has any questions/concerns she should see the provider who is prescribing the medication. Best regards, Dr.
Avatar f tn I've been on depo provera for 15 years and my periods stopped right away. I'm 45 years old and just had a period that lasted 5 days. My question is whether or not depo provera is still working as my birth control choice? Is there a way to know if depo provera is no longer working and if I may get pregnant?
1909968 tn?1322063912 I was on the depo needle for years and recently stopped, the last needle I was supposed to get was in July. I recently started my period(light) the week of the 8th of nov 2011. My period seemed normal, so in my mind all was well. My boyfriend and I had sex the 13th (the end of my period) and did not use a condom.
Avatar f tn Quick question... which Depo are you on? There are two kinds, that I'm aware of: Depo Provera or Depo Lupron. I had tried the Provera when I was about 16 for about a year. I had to stop because I could not handle the side effects any longer. I did spot for about 3 months. It usually takes a few months for your system to get used to it. The Lupron stops your period completely and basically puts your body into menopause, which is the one I am currently on.
494555 tn?1228504371 hi every1 im new on here and i really need ur help.
3105573 tn?1355979465 depression and mood swings so bad it almost ended my relationship. Depo Provera is used as a chemical sterilizer for sex offenders. Probably the single most effective birth control barring a hysterectomy! It does not have that effect in all women but I would be extremely careful with it. I love the NuvaRing but if you are going to breastfeed you won't be able to use it because of the progesterone. If you can not be consist with pills I would look into an intrauterine device (IUD).
Avatar m tn It was probably depo provera (if it was birth control). How long have you been TTC? If it's been a year or more then it's time to talk with your doctor because he may want to do some testing on your hormones. If there are something wrong with your hormones I don't think it's from the depo though. If anything birth control doesn't have you ovulate so your eggs are preserved (that is of course until you go off the medication and start ovulating again).
Avatar f tn So I got put on depo provera friday and my period had came on the wednesday night before that friday. Well I had sex that saturday after being on the shot for 24hr and my bf *** inside of me could I be pregnant or no?
Avatar f tn i decided to not go on any other birth control for awhile. What are the side effects of coming off the Depo Provera and is it ok to not be on any birthcontrol at all for awhile??
Avatar f tn I have been on the Depo Provera shot for more than 5 years now. I read that the recommended amount of time that a young woman should be on Depo is only 2 years. I am 20 now and I have been on it since I was 15. I have tried to come off of it once. I bled for about 3 weeks and then got back on it. Currently I have all kinds of pain. Back, kness, neck, arms, and I have migraines. I read about a calcium deficiency when doing research about Depo Provera.
Avatar n tn Hello I just got my cycle back after being on the depo provera shot and it been down since 12-18-2010 I wondering when will be the best time to try for a baby?
Avatar f tn i'm on the family planning medicaid insurance and the pharmacist said it doesn't cover it.
Avatar f tn Can the depo-provera shot be given in between periods and still be affective? What would the effects of this be?
Avatar f tn I have a history of anxiety and depression. Is depo-provera a good choice or a bad choice for birth control? Thank you!
