depo-provera

Avatar f tn I recently started having hot flashes and I wake up at night sweat profusely. Once I sit outside for a couple minutes I am fine. Also I have noticed since I have been on the shot I am very anxious. I would like someones opinion if their is a way to counteract these side effects or if I should just switch? I just really like the depo because so is very reliable for my-self. Please I would love some opinions.
Monkey Depo Provera injections could cause sweating and/or hot flashes. Hot flashes are actually not uncommon at all, occurring 1-5% of time according to information from the manufacturer, -Dr.
Avatar n tn When I finally looked online to find out what was wrong with me (no period for 6 months, difficulty sleeping, incredible hot flashes and night sweats, excessive weight gain, a lot of crying, etc.) menopause kept coming up as one of the possible causes. After extensive testing at my doctor’s office I was told I was menopausal.
Avatar f tn Irregular menstrual periods, or no periods at all Headaches Nervousness Depression Dizziness Acne Changes in appetite Weight gain Excessive growth of facial and body hair Hair loss Loss of bone mineral density Most of the side effects are not common. Change in the menstrual cycle is the most common side effect. You may experience irregular bleeding or spotting. After a year of use, about 50% of women will stop getting their periods. Their periods usually return when they discontinue the shots.

Avatar n tn How long we're u on depo? I was on it for nearly 12 years & it's taken me 2years for my periods to get back to normal.
Avatar f tn Last Wed they removed my other tube and ovary as well as my uterus and cervix. My doctor put me on the Depo Provera shot to help with the hot flashes. I was wondering if anyone could guide me with all the controversy of the hormones. This happened very quickly for me and I am really struggling with my feelings regarding this. Today has been very hard for me crying not sure why or if it is the fact that the hysterectomy is settling in and is so FINAL.
Avatar f tn i have tried everything, from lupron, to laparoscopies, to yaz, to smoking marijuana - currently i am on Depo Provera and have been for the past year and a half. I am noticing a lot of side affects from this as time goes on, and unfortunately for me this has been the only thing that even remotely helps, and i still have a lot of pain.
1305767 tn?1361192676 When I was 16 I started taking the BC depo provera and was on it for about 10 years then decided to stop. I didn't have periods while on depo but they eventually returned to normal and ran like clock work. Last year I started having problems with pelvic pain, painful intercourse, bad menstrual cramps, low back pain, and flu like feelings at certain points during my cycle. I saw the gyno in April this year and had a pap and pelvic exam and even a pelvic and abdominal ultra sound.
5108300 tn?1371827320 When i feel nausea i get hot flashes and i just want to lay down and i lay down for hours and hours at a time. I also get irregular heart beats and fast heart beats. I was perfectly fine until i got this 3rd injection. Now, I called where i got the shot from and spoke with a nurse there and she said since this is my 3rd injection my body should be use to it. So now i am very stressed out that this is not the depo shot doing this to me.
772910 tn?1249563035 I have been having awful hot flashes all weekend. Could I be starting menopause at age 43?
Avatar f tn My body hurt too. I was on Depo for 8 years. I too got the hot flushes. Turned out I was in a chemically induced state of menopause. Go to the Dr and get treated. It will take months for your body to recover but get started now.
Avatar f tn My doc mentioned estrogen too, if my hot flashes were too much but I declined. The hot flashes actually went away for about 6 - 8 months and I thought maybe it was a change of climate and also I did some online reading and found that some women say some foods, like spicy foods might trigger hot flashes so I limited my diet. They're back now though and I'm not sure why except I am back to eating more variety in foods, even spicy foods.
Avatar f tn I have had the exact treatment for endo and i am 28 yrs old. I had the surgery 13 months ago followed by depo shots for 6 months. I am booked in for the 12th of May for another surgery to go in and see how its worked as i hadnt fallen pregnant on Clomid in the last 4 months. I only experienced hot flushes while on the depo shots and felt ok. After i finnished the shots i became regular in ovulating where prior i would only ovulate every other month. Good luck and let me know how yours goes.
Avatar f tn Depo Provera { Started 5/20/2010, Last Shot 2/9/2012 } Before I started getting the Depo Provera Injections I always had a normal, slightly heavy period. Minimal cramping. After taking Depo Provera for 1 year I finally lost my periods.
Avatar n tn What is the best way to do this? Everyone talks about the Depo Provera, but what is the side effects and would this by any chance bring problems in the near future when we want to concieve a baby?
Avatar f tn If you were using Depo-Provera it may take longer for your cycles to return to normal. Keep in mind that Depo-Provera is designed to be a long-lasting form of birth control. Even though it is intended to help you avoid pregnancy for up to three months, it may actually prevent pregnancy longer. Depo-Provera is a synthetic hormone similar to progesterone.
3113005 tn?1341773834 I am little confused by your question. The depo provera shot is given once every three months not for three months at some unspecified interval. If you mean that you received the depo shot 4 months ago, and hence, the last month, you did not get a repeat depo shot, then the answer to your question is, yes, you can get pregnant. I was on the depo shot for about 5 years before stopping to try to conceive. It took me 3 years to conceive my son who is 6 years old.
Avatar f tn I Have Been On Depo Provera Since October 22,2010, I Have bleeded for 1/2 months straight on my first inject of the depo... But, I dont think I have bleeded after sex before while on Depo.
Avatar f tn I've been on depo provera for 15 years and my periods stopped right away. I'm 45 years old and just had a period that lasted 5 days. My question is whether or not depo provera is still working as my birth control choice? Is there a way to know if depo provera is no longer working and if I may get pregnant?
Avatar f tn It sounds to me like some of the people who are writing may be confusing the Mirena with Depo Provera--those are definitely side effects of the Depo shot. In fact, the copper IUD has been a bigger cause of problems than the Mirena in my clientelle. It tends to make period cramping worse, And the bleeding heavier! Women who like it, really swear by it though. The Mirena, in my experience usually lightens the flow tremendously--or even stops the bleeding altogether.
Avatar n tn I was on the Depo Provera for about 4years, and just recently i had a period that lasted for about 1 month off and on. The Dr. has taken me off the Depo Shots and I was put on Birth Control Pills. The blood was very dark red and blood clots. I was given an altrsound was told nothing was wrong. Is this normal with the Depo Provera?
Avatar f tn This was about 20 years ago. They gave me depo-provera shots for three months that shrunk the tumor but also put me in menopause temporarily. It was the most "down" psychologically I've ever felt in my life including the rough time in my life right after my 65 year old mother suddenly passed away. NOTHING made me laugh! I felt sooooo depressed. So, I'm not sure I would highly recommend it.
801413 tn?1333539276 You might need Provera to jump start a period. If you have pcos and are not getting your period Provera may help to induce a period for you. See your doctor.
