3113005 tn?1341773834 I am little confused by your question. The depo provera shot is given once every three months not for three months at some unspecified interval. If you mean that you received the depo shot 4 months ago, and hence, the last month, you did not get a repeat depo shot, then the answer to your question is, yes, you can get pregnant. I was on the depo shot for about 5 years before stopping to try to conceive. It took me 3 years to conceive my son who is 6 years old.
16411434 tn?1447717985 A LITTLE OVER 3 YEARS AGO I GOT THE DEPO PROVERA SHOT. I ONLY GOT IT ONCE BECAUSE IN THE 3 MONTHS AFTER I GOT IT I GAINED OVER 70 LBS. I IMMEDIATELY NOTICED THE WEIGHT GAIN AND STARTED BEING EVEN MORE ACTIVE AND EATING BETTER. BEFORE THE DEPO SHOT I WALKED 6 MILES A DAY AND DID CALISTHENICS EVERY MORNING AND NIGHT. I GAINED EVEN MORE WEIGHT AFTER THAT 3 MONTH PERIOD AND NOW AT 250 LBS., OVER 100 LBS.
Avatar n tn ve never been on the depo for 10 years I was told by my doctor to only use the depo for 1-2 years the most, it does cause bone loss. I was on it before for 3 years and just went back on 2 months ago. It is the only birth control I like. I'm surprised you doctor didn't mention the effects the depo can have when on it for long period of time.
Avatar f tn So i started the Depo-Provera Shot in November its now March and i just randomly started spotting. When i first went on it my doctor said it stops periods. Well for the past 3 days I've been spotting and don't know why. Can i be having implantion bleeding?
Avatar f tn I am currently on a prescription for vitamin D to prevent bone loss and have undergone bone density tests in the past, which have all tested negative for irregularities and loss of bone mass. I am beginning to get the horrible debilitating pain and bloating associated with Endo now worse than ever. My doctor wants me to begin a new treatment method, either the implant or IUD.
Avatar m tn I just got a shot of depo-provera birth control 3 days ago and my period was supposed to start yesterday and it hasn't. I am sexually active and the last time I had sex was on my period last month and we used condoms but I wasn't on birth control and my partner did not go all the way. I just went to the GYN and got my annual pelvic exam and my first shot of depo and so far everything has been okay.
Avatar n tn I have been on Depo Provera for 13 years. I have not had a period in probably 10 years or longer. I got the flu and started taking flu medicine and two days later all of the sudden - a period. I am freaking out. What would cause a sudden period after such a long absence? I want it to go away NOW. Did the flu medicine kill my depo shot?
Avatar n tn I would suggest that you start doing ovulation predictors once you have a normal period and if you are not ovulating regularly, you could start a medication like Clomid to overcome the after effects of the depo. Also, you should take lots of vit D and calcium--depo can cause thining of the bone, but that is reversible when you stop it. Good luck!
Avatar n tn Hey there, I have the same problem and they have stopped trying BCP's on me. Have you tried Depo Provera? That can work, it stops your period also. It can cause weight gain and bone density thinning and I *think* depression but its not common the depression I dont think. If you keep a balanced diet the weight gain often isnt a problem, its more an increase in apetite. Have you been back to your doctor about it? It would deffinately be worth going back, 7 months is a bit too long!
Avatar n tn HOW CAN I SUE DEPO PROVERA WHICH I WAS ON FOR 8 YEARS AND BY AGE 25 I WAS DIAGNOSED WITH THE OSTEOPOROSIS AND I AM 29 NOW AND CONTINUE TO BREAK BONES IN JUST SIMPLE ACTIVITIES. I HAVE RESEARCHED AND CANT FIND ANY ONE TO TAKE THE CASE?
Avatar f tn Hi there, It is known that women who use Depo-Provera may lose significant bone mineral density. It is more common after using depo for increasing duration of use and may not be completely reversible. It is advisable to avoid using it for more than 2 years .The exact cause of your pains in knee joint is due to depo or some other cause can be confirmed only after a thorough evaluation. You also need to consider other possibilities of joint pain like rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, gout etc.
Avatar f tn m outside the normal range of time after stopping Depo Provera to have gotten my periods back. Could Depo be causing these problems or does it sound like something else could be a problem?
432411 tn?1206472109 I was on Depo Provera for BC for 8 years with no side effects but headaches, which were manageable. Also had no periods, which was great! However, I became ill when I stopped having the injections at age 45. I experienced fatigue, joint pain and swelling, and depression. I was tested for everything from Lyme disease and Lupus, to thyroid conditons - all negative. My Dr. finally gave up and diagnosed me with Chronic Fatigue syndrome.
Avatar f tn If you were using Depo-Provera it may take longer for your cycles to return to normal. Keep in mind that Depo-Provera is designed to be a long-lasting form of birth control. Even though it is intended to help you avoid pregnancy for up to three months, it may actually prevent pregnancy longer. Depo-Provera is a synthetic hormone similar to progesterone.
438443 tn?1241995685 So, a woman has nothing to fear if she was to mistakenly receive Depo Provera early in a pregnancy. Best regards, Dr.
Avatar f tn Recently, Me and My Boyfriend had un-protected sex.. and afterwards i started bleeding. we haven't had sex in a week, what could time be a sign of.. I am on Depo Provera-the birth control shot?
Avatar n tn I would like to say that my doctor actually went to a seminar regarding depo and calcium loss and their is no substantial evidence that state this is true. I've been on depo for nearly 10 years straight with no calcium loss. I actually quit depo because of that rumor, and I gravely regret that. After visiting my doctor, he found this seminar and went just to learn more about my inquiry of the long term effects.
Avatar n tn Hello, Irregular bleeding like you describe is a common side effect of Depo Provera. Your girlfriend should have been counseled about this possibility when initiated on the medication. If she has any questions/concerns she should see the provider who is prescribing the medication. Best regards, Dr.
Avatar f tn I've been on depo provera for 15 years and my periods stopped right away. I'm 45 years old and just had a period that lasted 5 days. My question is whether or not depo provera is still working as my birth control choice? Is there a way to know if depo provera is no longer working and if I may get pregnant?
1305767 tn?1361192676 At the same time I was having female discomforts so I was also seeing a gyno. I was put on Depo Provera birth control (been on it about 9 months so far) and most of my digestive problems cleared up. Now in the past week I've been feeling like I can't stay full! I'll eat and about an hour later I start getting "hunger pangs" or a gnawing in my upper abdomen so I eat again.
