colon

Avatar m tn I had a sigmoid colectomy six months ago, I have Hyperplastic Polposis Syndrome, a large number of polyps, one specifically golf ball size detected by a colonoscopy that had be removed surgically. Fortunately no cancer!I'm a 52 year old male and this was my first major surgery, had my tonsils out as a child. I had 7 inches of my sigmoid colon removed. I was given the impression that in 2-3 months I'd be "as good as new".
Avatar n tn I had my colonoscopy today and he said he found 2 polyps in the sigmoid colon and biopsy a thickened fold in the sigmoid colon. Also said I have Diverticulosis of the sigmoid colon. Does anyone know what this means?
Avatar f tn i had a colonoscopy the other day. the dr went around the first 'bend', but couldn't push thru any further. he said that he didn't want to push any further because he didn't want to 'tear' anything. he was being very vague about why it was blocked. i am not having any pain and my BMs are normal. i thought there was a scope on the end of these things so you can see what you are looking at. why couldn't he tell me what the blockage was?
Avatar f tn CT enterography evaluates the stomach, small bowel (duodenum, jejunum, and ileum), large bowel (ascending colon, transverse colon, descending colon, sigmoid colon, and rectum) as well as appendix. On the other hand, colonoscopy evaluates only rectum, sigmoid colon, descending colon, transverse colon, ascending colon, and terminal ileum (very end of small bowel).
Avatar n tn I recently had a colonoscopy, which revealed tubulovillous adenoma, 1 CM, with focal high grade cell dysplasia. The doctor removed the polyp, with a diagnosis appearing to be free of dysplasia. Frankly, I am from the Boston area and now reside in Florida. I have a LOT more confidence in a Boston doctor's opinion. I am 54 years old, smoke and drink occasionally. The doctor suggests I have another colonoscopy in 6 months.
Avatar f tn in the left colon in the region of the descending colon and junction with sigmoid colon, there is wall thickening with adjacent inflammatory changes suggestive of diverticulitis. the possibility of an underlying neoplastic process cannot entirely be excluded. i recommend a follow up endoscopy when the patients symptoms improve." my husband followed up with his PCP after he finished his antibiotics. she recommended a second ct to see if the colon had healed.
Avatar f tn I had a colonoscopy a couple of years ago my question is what is a sigmoid colon-hyperplastic polyp
987242 tn?1335490770 I under went a colonoscopy on Thursday and they found inflammation and diverticulitis in the sigmoid colon. He also found something at the other end of my colon and is awaiting biopsy results. What I don't understand is my symptoms don't match diverticulitis and have been on going for over a decade. In 2001 I started having bloody bowel movements with extreme abdominal pain, I also lost forty pounds in six months.
Avatar m tn My husband had blood when he moved his bowels and I got him in right away and they did a colonoscopy and other tests, he had cancer in the sigmoid, they removed the whole sigmoid and the lymph nodes all around it and there was no signs of cancer there, so everything went well. That was because they caught it early real early. This is a treatable cancer if it is caught very early. So I would suggest you get in now.
Avatar f tn I want to know why I didn't receive any treatment after my colonoscopy. The summary conclusions from the procedure is as follows: Colitis found in the sigmoid and descending colon. The colon was mildly edematous, and granularity noted, no ulceration present, random bx obtained. And I am curious as to why it hurts really bad on my right side and not my left? Should I be worried?
Avatar n tn i had a colonoscopy in jan. 2012. now i find myself waiting on biopsies on 3 more that they removed last week dec 2012. I would like to know do these grow that fast and this time it was not a full colonoscopy. could these 3 grow within a year or could they have missed them.
Avatar f tn t get past recto sigmoid junction, so virtual colonoscopy next week. All of my other colonoscopies have been fine . Biopsies done . All normal. I have bladder discomfort and back pain. I'm assuming I now have adhesions. Have had hysterectomy in 2007 and further prolapse surgery in 2015. So a lot been done down there. Anyone else had back pain, bladder problems from adhesions. He doesn't seem to think fistula . Because no nasties coming from bladder ( sorry tmi but he means pooh) .
Avatar n tn t always as accurate as the original version of a colonoscopy, the other GI may want to do a regular colonoscopy to see if you have anything else wrong with your colon such as inflamation (which can cause a stool to take a terribly long time to pass). Hang in there and I hope you get all this sorted out!
Avatar f tn Found I have hyperemia of rectal sigmoid colon. I still had to push for Colonoscopy. Still bleeding after 5 days of 50mg prednisone. Preliminary diagnosis proctocolitis. I'm concerned, what is going on?
Avatar f tn MY colonoscopy was not bad at all. I wasd put to sleep. now the prep i think is the worst part. having to clean out your system. my dear friend i wish yous all the best!!!!
Avatar f tn My question is, is the left ovary located in the front, with the sigmoid colon running behind it, or is the left ovary and sigmoid colon side by side or is the left ovary located behind the sigmoid colon? The reason for this is because I can feel a lump in my lower left side, right where I think my left ovary is located, however, know that the sigmoid colon is located in this same area and so I'm trying to determine whether the lump is caused by my ovary or by my colon?

Avatar n tn When grooves or other patterns are found in the stool day after day, it may indicate changes are occurring within the colon. You may want to think about discussing having a colonoscopy done with your doc just to make sure nothing is amiss.
Avatar f tn After antibiotics, bowel rest and iv fluids, it went away. I am going to have a colonoscopy this summer as a follow up. Since then, I have had three different episodes of discomfort and the feeling that I need to have a bowel movement, but can't...or having many, many small bowel movements for a 24 hour period. I have never had this problem before. each time that happened, I was sure I was headed down the same path of diverticulitis...but by the next day, things were back to normal.
Avatar m tn My general doctor says this isn’t concern enough to get a colonoscopy. I also got a digital exam from a doctor who confirmed I had no hemmerhoids or anything wrong that was in range of the digital exam.

Avatar m tn The duodenum is not entered during a colonoscopy. The only portion of the intestinal tract that are investigated during that test are the rectum, sigmoid colon, transverse colon, ascending colon and, when possible, the last part of the terminal ileum. An upper endoscopy visualizes the first part of the duodenum. A double-balloon enteroscopy is the only test that can really 'get into' the whole of the duodenum and other portions of the small intestine.
19897556 tn?1486207659 Hi, I had a colonoscopy and Esophgogasroduodenoscopy done yesterday. A summary of their findings was a Hiatus Hernia in the cardia, an antral/pyloric ulcer in the pylorus, and a sigmoid polyp that was removed. I have been in a lot of abdominal and back pain. There were multiple biopsies taken of the "ulcer" and of course the polyp will be looked at. All I was told was that my Dr would be in touch next week.
