1839856 tn?1318553457 I can honestly say quitting anything cold turkey during pregnancy is never a good idea. The stress of the withdrawls as well as the stress from the pain can cause you to miscarry. I'd say consult with your doctor and see about lowering the dosage and taking them only when the pain is unbearable. Before I became pregnant I was taking 10/325 mg 6-9 a day. During my pregnancy I was down to no more than 4 a day and there were some days I wouldn't take any and just dealt with the pain.
Avatar n tn I've been taking hydros, percocets, and other related pills for about a year and a half. I'm tired of it and decided to stop today. It's been 30 hours since my last pills. Then i took 3 oxycodone 15s. I have been experiencing cold sweats, runny eyes, aches, irritability, anxiety, and irregular tiredness. How long does this withdrawl last? I've decided to stop cold turkey, is that dangerous. I tried to wean myself off before and was unsuccessful.
Avatar f tn My husband was taking 15 10 mg hydrocodone a day for the last three months and quick cold turkey yesterday. He is having a really terrible day, He does not think he will be able to make it though. He has convinced him self that was taking to many to have just quite cold turkey, I know this is a very painful process, should I be worried?
Avatar m tn No, you won't die from hydrocodone withdrawals, maybe Methadone or Tramadol but not hydrocodone. But cold turkey don't seem to be a very good option for you. That's how I did it, three (3) times. Cold Turkey and I did not use any other drugs either. All three times I made it to 100% normal again. It took 21 days to be at about 95% Normal each time, but the bad part for me was only for three days. After that it was much easier. And I worked every day while withdrawaling.
Avatar f tn I was taking tramedol first and then got on hydrocodone for a while but was able to switch to hydro w no problems. My last dose was 5 days ago of hydro. I pretty much quit cold turkey. Does that help?
Avatar f tn My story consists of having infection of the left knee and surgery to replace same with months of antibiotics between surgery and norco 5mg/325. Went cold turkey after 2 1/2 years of narcotics cold turkey. 10 months go by and the knee failed again. It was replaced on January 5, 2016 and still had a variety of narcotics after surgery, dilaudid, oxycodone and finally back to the norco. I took my last Norco 5/325 on Sunday March 27, 2016. I am now at 73 hours out.
Avatar m tn IT'S HARD COMING OFF O PILLS COLD TURKEY,I HAVE CAME OFF XANAXS,LORCETS,ALSO OXYS COLD TURKEY.IT'S THE HARDEST THING YOU WILL PROBABLY HAVE TO DO.THE WITHDRAWS ARE A KILLER.BELIEVE ME I HAVE FAITH IN YOU AND YOU CAN DO IT.TO BE HONEST IT CAN BE HELL,BUT YOU JUST GOT TO FIGHT THE URGES AND THAT'S HARD.I LEARNED IN REHAB YEARS AGO,YOU HAVE TO TAKE ONE DAY AT A TIME.JUST TRY TO THINK OF OTHER THINGS,TRY TO NOT THINK OF THE PILLS,AND THAT'S VERY HARD SOMETIMES.BELIEVE ME I KNOW .
Avatar n tn It depends on the amount. if you have been taking a low dose you should be fine. If it's been a high dose tell your doc and I'm sure he will help you taper down until your off them.
Avatar f tn t get me wrong....w/d does cause anxiety but once I decided to just go cold turkey I was a lot less scared. That was along time ago and I'm back on medication since I just had back surgery last Thursday. If I could do it anyway I wanted I'd probably taper down pretty fast and take something strong for anxiety. I didn't have anything before so I just went c/t. I was on this site so much. I would alternate between a hot shower-medhelp-hot shower-medhelp for days.
Avatar f tn Do you expect to get it prescribed post-surgery? My mother-in-law just had knee replacement surgery and was prescribed Tramadol but only took a couple. I don't imagine you would have a horrible time, but you'll feel crappy for a week or so, especially if you plan on not taking any post-op. Might work out good though if you do it that way and try to get by with the minimum amount. Will help trick your body and raise your pain threshold.
Avatar n tn Hey Donnie. Im not sure waht Bontril is, but I know she should not stop the xanax 'cold turkey'.. that needs to be tapered. As far as the hydrocodone, she should be safe stopping cold turkey.. keep her hydrated, well fed. She will feel sick for about 5 days - flu like symptoms (aches, pains, runny nose, restless legs, hot/cold flashes, sweating, stomach problems) and then start to feel better...
Avatar n tn I recently went from 8 a day to cold turkey. However, besides taking myprescribed ones I was also taking my husbands. The dr found out when the pharmacy called in to approve a refill. I have to go talk to him tomorrow and am scared to death...what is gonna happen? I have two children and my husband can't work.it doesn't help that I feel horrible from the withdrawls.
Avatar f tn I wanna stop but when i tried quitting cold turkey the withdraws got so bad i felt like i was gonna die. What can i take to help myself detox?
197480 tn?1300891097 t know if it helped or not. My wds were brutal. I recommend just stopping cold turkey and getting it over with. The mental part of the taper was also pretty bad. I felt pretty bad for 7-10 days but I've felt great this last week or so. Still only sleeping 6 hours at most a night but it's tolerable. Just hang in there it's so worth it and just remember that you will feel better eventually. I promise you that.
Avatar f tn I went as long as 30 days before but the cravings never seems to go away. Have anyone here quit cold turkey and was successful? Any encouragement would be greatly appreciated!
912614 tn?1242992657 How bad is it to stop taking Vicodin cold turkey. I was taking at least 20 a day for about 2 years now. I just woke up one day and said "that is it"! I am going to OD or die from this stupid drug! Why do doctors just keep giving them to us. I just don't understand. Anyway I am on day 6 and feeling pretty good. I, unlike most of the post that I have read, have TO MUCH ENERGY! I can't stop moving. I can't sleep or sit still of 5 minutes. Is this normal?
Avatar m tn (do NOT go to methadone) I went cold turkey. i also know people from this forum that have taken even more..Do you want to stop? I'm not trying to be a smarta$$.
Avatar m tn I am terrified this time around for some reason. I have always quit cold turkey in the past and just went through the horrible withdrawals. I have looked into suboxone and wondered if anyone has used suboxone for maybe like the first 2 weeks after quitting opiods just to ward off the severity of the withdrawals. I am currently taking about 20 5/500mg a day.
Avatar n tn I've been going cold turkey off of hydrocodone. It has been 72 hrs,was rough still is but a little better.
Avatar n tn Yep! Sounds familiar. Takes just 4 days of continued use to have some withdrawals. I'm only on 7 days of Cold Turkey but, it's an awesome day! The fog has lifted and I can see my faults. I'm not focusing on them, just know I have them. Cold Turkey is not unbearable, its just extremely difficult and doable. Talk to your Doc, let'em know whats going on. I was prescribed lorazepam yesterday and have followed orders!
