Clindamycin and doxycycline

Common Questions and Answers about Clindamycin and doxycycline

benzaclin

has given me 10 days of clindamycin to be taken 3 times a day at a dose of 450 mgs. this is fine, i can take clindamycin with no ill effects. HOWEVER, i have read that this drug is not commonly used to treat std's as there are so many better options. Is clindamycin going to work??? Thanks.
hi i am on doxycycline and i was told by the doctor that it would stop the pill working. but i dont take it anyway so i couldnt tell you from experience.
I use Clindamycin gel to help with acne I still have and I am on oral antibiotics too. I have found the Clindamycin really helps (after using it a while) with keeping surface breakouts away (or to a minimum). If I forget to use it for a couple days I can start to get acne popping up. Compared to other topical medicines, I think the Clindamycin does the best job and is the least harsh on my skin.
Hello, I'm 30 years old, and I have moderate acne, mostly around my mouth. I use a 1% clindamycin solution called Clindagel. I've been using it for about 6 months. I'm concerned about bacterial resistance. What is the likelihood that the bacteria on my skin will become resistant to the Clindagel? Is inevitable? I asked my dermatologist about this, and she had a very "oh, don't worry about it" attitude that, of course, made me worry.
Doxycilin 100mg, late in evening cause im really fair and sentivity to sun. At night before bed I wash face with a soapless gentle cleaner, or brevoxyl 4 and use clindamycin lotion. The clindamycin lotion makes my face more oily it seems, and is pretty thin, like milk. So far i've been on this regime for more than 3 weeks ,and the doxycilin and brevoxyl has cleared up my chest and back, and thighs almost completly, but my face has just been getting worse. Should I have seen results by now.
I went to a dermatologist who prescribed doxycyline 100mg/1x day, clindamycin topical for night use, and 2% hyrdrocortisone for day use. I did not ever use the cortisone as I read that it was not a good treatment for the condition and could actually make it worse. I have taken the doxycycline for over a month with no listed side effects or problems. However, this past weekend I developed an intense itching on my legs and arms only. There is barely a visible rash...
Cetaphil Cleanser, Clindamycin Phospate/Benzoyl Peroxide Gel, Desonide Lotion, and Doxycycline Antibiotics. The lotion does help to dry up the pimples, but the breakouts won't stop. I have been on this regimen for approx 2 months. I stopped using the lotion because I read it's a steroid, and started a new regimen: in the A.M. I use Cetaphil Cleanser, and BP....in the P.M. I use Cetaphil and Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair (Retin A), and Antibiotics.
Hello, Unfortunately I am unaware of sona gel but clindamycin is one the best treatments for acne vulgaris. Continue taking the doxycycline capsules and try for cleocin gel which contains clindamycin. Also keep you face clean by washing with a mild soap atleast twice a day.Pat it dry and do not rub it.Avoid picking or pressing the acne. You can also use Benzoyl peroxide 5% lotion or gel once at bedtime. An amount of lotion the size of a pea should be enough to cover most of your face.
I went to my GP who then prescribed me clindamycin on top of the erythromycin and codeine for pain. When I was only taking erythromycin, my stomach was hardly upset, if at all. Now that I'm taking the clindamycin, my stomach is killing me. There's no diarrhea as of yet, but the amount of stomach cramping I have is insane. It's not abdominal pain, but stomach pain, just below my chest.
i was given doxycycline and more metronidazole and finished these about three weeks ago. the tests results for stds and candida all came back negative, but the sympoms are still present. i am going back to the gum the next time i can get away from work, but no one has been able to tell me what kind of infection this is or what kind of treatment will work. i would think it was only bv but the doctor said that it was an infection of some kind.
Finally went to a dermatologist and he diagnosed as Roscea. Prescribed Sodium Sulfacetamide and Sulfur solution cream and doxycycline once a day. Over the last year, worse it ever got was maybe 5 flesh colored bumps on my forehead. Two days after starting the treatment, my forehead now looks like a war zone. Maybe 50+ red bumps and now they actually look like pimples with some black heads. (that is new). Did a google search and was hoping this was common.
I ended up going to an ENT who explained that sinus infections require 14 days of antibiotic minimum when it is that deep seeded. He put me on Clindamycin and it cleared it completely after none of the other things worked from my GP. I think he made me do 21 days because it was so bad. It was sinuses, ears, chest, etc like you. My GP had given me so many WRONG antibiotics, that I was reacting to a bunch of them.
I picked the scab off, and placed hydrogen peroxide on it. It fizzed and it was a bit painful and bled a little when I squeezed it. It looked a lot like a syphilis Chancre (an ulcer with a yellowish crust and a crater edge). It seemed to weep water just a little bit. Over the next week it started to look like it was slowly healing with the crater starting to shrink, but still had a little yellow crust in it and when squeezed hurt.
I apologize in advance for the novel I'm about to write! I've always had moderately problematic skin: blackheads, whiteheads, & papules,& I see a derm. In an attempt to try a different avenue, I went to an aethestician in April & I allowed her to do a "mild" chemical peel on my face (20% glycolic acid). As a result, I got contact dermititis on my neck & was prescribed Bethamethasone Valerate .1%. It cleared up the problem in 2 days, & I thought it was great.
Hello, Isotretinoin and other retinoids, minocycline, doxycycline and other tetracyclines are generally avoided during pregnancy. Since you have taken the medicines in early stages of pregnancy it is unlikely to cause significant harm to the fetus. For more queries and assistance visit a dermatologist. Hope it helps. Best luck and regards!
I did get a blood test for syphillis after being on doxycycline for 8 days, and after having all of those other antibiotics. Obviously that test came back neg, but I am assuming it wouldnt be any good due to the antibiotics. I tested neg for HIV at 4 weeks ( I had got mixed up and posted it was at 5 weeks, but it was only at 4 weeks). I never had any chancers though. I have been off of the doxy for two days and the pain in the lymph nodes has increased again.
Doxycycline is another one they use for acne and it's much cheaper than the minocycline. I was given Spironolactone for acne as well as thinning hair and it works very well with virtually no side affects in my case. However, its use in women versus men might be something to talk to your doctor about. Men may have more side affects with it because it does affect testosterone. It does come with a nice benefit of helping keep blood pressure down because it is also used for that.
I reported back to the clinic, I was put on Ceftriaxone and Gentamicin injections. I took it and the dicharge stopped. But the rash persisted. I was given clindamycin and asked to do a urethral swab which failed to detect any pathogens, (only yeast cells were discovered). I was given fluconazole(single dose),and also loratyn and predisolone and asked to change to Canesten cream.
I went to a dermatologist and he prescribed me doxycycline for a month a long with a mixture made of Clindamycin 2%, HC 1% in 80% H20 and 20% isopropanol to apply to the area. This took away the red dots and a lot of the papule's (not all) but I seemed to get more of those red pimple-like bumps around my mouth while I was on it.
Treatment consists of oral antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs. The specific antibiotics are tetracycline and doxycycline group of antibiotics. I suggest you to get it evaluated from a dermatologist and discuss about the use of tetracycline if you have apprehensions about Clindamycin cream. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
I just have a question about an antibiotic I am about to start taking tomorrow. I have hidradenitis suppurativa and have just finished a course of doxycycline which I was on for 6 months. Tomorrow I am starting a new course of cindamycin hydrochloride and when I went to the pharmacist I was advised by the chemist to take a pro biotic which contains 12.5 billion lactobacillus acidophilus (NCFM) organisms and 12.5 billion ifidobacterium lactis organisms. I was just wondering..
I and my husband received IV continous infusion Clindamycin treatment times 7 days and the followup testing showed we were both positive with clamydia. I still have pain in my right kidney that I usually have with chronic UTI. I am taking Cipro now for E. facelis but infection will not go away. It is too the point I don't want to have intercourse with my husband. Also did two months of oral macrobid and clarithomycin both I and my husband. Don't know what to do please advise.
My lymph nodes have been slightly swollen since last year, even though I was treated with cirpo, arithromycin, doxycycline, ceftriaxone, and clindamycin. The swelling had gone down in the lymph nodes with the use of doxycycline, but never completely. Nothing else helped. Anyway, I started exercising about three months ago with weights and riding a skateboard. This dramatically decreased the nausea and pressure in my lymph system.
Hi, I just got home from my dermatologist , and he prescribed me Doxycycline 100MG and Niacinamide 500MG. He also gave me a sample box of Monodox and on the bottom it says Doxycycline Monohydrate Capsules, and the box has about 30 capsules inside. I paid 10 bucks for the prescription total, but I check online the price for Monodox is really expensive. Why would my dermatologist gave me that really expensive box? Last, I want to know what do you think of the medicine he gave me ?
After seeing a dermatologist he prescribed me Doxycycline for 1 month and an ointment made of Clindamycin 2%, HC 1% in 80% h20 and 20% isopropanol. This ointment took away the red spots before I even started the anti biotics but once I ran out, the spots came back again... After this, I started Doxycycline and the dry spots disappeared but a few days after finishing this treatment, the small red dots below my mouth are returning and it's always in the same area!
I know this is weird, but the taste of my discharge becomes bitter. After treatment of oral clindamycin and diflucan all my symptoms are relieved, sometimes for along time. I had read an article many yrs ago about chronic BV . I was first diagnosed with BV when I was 20, but I had no symptoms. Most of the time, doctors say they don't see any infection, but treat me any ways for BV because it does relieve my symptoms. I have been on on metrogel, 2 times a week, vaginally.
Clindamycin, erythromycin and/or metronidazole are better treatment of choice than doxycycline.
Effective topical lotions include Differin (adapalene) Duac (Clindamycin and benzoyl peroxide) and Dalacin (Clindamycin). Effective oral antibiotics include oxytetracycline, doxycycline and erythromycin. Ideally use a topical and oral remedy for at least 12 weeks to achieve best results. Eloise.
