Can i use dandruff shampoo on my dog

Common Questions and Answers about Can i use dandruff shampoo on my dog

dandruff

We've had him bathed a few times using oatmeal shampoo at a groomer we really trust, but it doesn't seem to have made much of a dent in the dandruff. Like I said, the dandruff is minimal on some days and heavier on other days with seemingly no rhyme or reason. I've tried adding some olive oil to his food, and even rubbing some on him because I read it might help, but really when I massaged some olive oil into his skin it almost seemed to make the dandruff worse. What do you all think?
Okay I ned help my cat has dandruff and I am pretty sure it is coming from the lack of dry air here in the house it has been very cold.. So i am sure there isnt much mositure in the air... So are their any shampoos I can get to help clear this up for a cat like at petsmart??? Also he is on strict dry food diet because his tummy cant handle can food and he makes a very unpleasant mess.. So I am thinking of adding a tablespoon of olive oil to help to..
I appreciate any help, she's a sweet dog and I just want to hold her on my lap again without having to shower off afterwards :)
I had to put my dog down on Saturday, the 15th of December. My heart is broken. How are you doing? My dog was 12 and had advanced heart disease and (without knowing) the beginning of kidney disease. She was a slow dog at this point but very content. 2 weeks ago she was attacked by a german shepherd while my husband was walking her. She survived the bites, but within the next week she stopped eating completely and her kidney values were very high.
My Dog is a Chow-Lab mix and my dog has this problem for over 6 months now, we have taken him to the vet and my dog already took many vaccine shots but none seem to be working, maybe because its the wrong vaccine. Here is a photo of the problem. http://i1082.photobucket.com/albums/j369/ashieboy/dog/C360 _2012-01-18-15-51-21.jpg http://i1082.photobucket.com/albums/j369/a shieboy/dog/C360_2012-01-18-15-51-11.jpg http://i1082.photobucket.c om/albums/j369/ashieboy/dog/C360_2012-01-18-15-51-04.
And I feel for you on the bitter tasting stuff. When I was trying to get my one dog to stop chewing the ridge of her crate I kept using stronger and stronger stuff until I was shopping at ethnic markets for super hot pepper juice.

Drs tell me all sorts of diagnosis such as, rosacea, psoriasis, hives, systematic allergies, fungus but I feel its always been seborrheic dermatitis. What should I use on my face that wont over moisture and irritate me? I'M open for suggestions you know it makes me feel like my dog does when her skin allergies flare up.
They are not noticeable but when I rub my tongue on top of my lip I can feel it. So is it the lip gloss I've been using that I had for a while or is it from dry skin? And I also had a dry patch of skin under my bottom lip. Any suggestions on what to do?? Should I use blistex to make sure my lips are not dry?
99) and this stuff is fantastic at moisturizing skin ( and smell great, Coconut!) and you can eat it if you want too. I use it on my hands and my hand skin looks awesome! I used to have my hand skin badly damaged in the winter but no more. My hand skin go to perfect in about 2 days.
Not only that but my blackheads on my nose aren't there anymore! I even had blackheads on my shoulders. Sometimes on my back... always had many pimples on my back... tried so many things... using clean towels, clean bed sheets, wearing 2 shirts a day, Differin prescription acne cream, Proactiv. For everything I have tried, I have never been able to accomplish my goal of no acne, the closest thing was a rigorous Proactive regime, which I used twice a day on my back.
I have heard that you can use human dandruff shampoo on them
I am having the itchy bumps on my neck and scalp also. I have been using the shampoo and hair products for 8 months to a year and never had any problems. Is it possible to develop an allergy after that long of a time? It is embarrassing to constantly digging my head, I know its not lice because I have everybody and their mother check my head. Can anybody give me any ideas.
It might be a yeast problem, which the grains would also contribute to. If it were my dog I would change the diet and give baths with dandruff shampoo (15 minutes contact time) every other day for a week and see if that begins to help.
I use two different shampoos on my dogs. I usually use a mild baby shampoo, which I started using on my German Shepherd. He had terribly sensitive skin and almost any shampoo would irritate his skin and break him out in a rash. Even pet shampoos that were supposed to be hypoallergenic. Our vet advised us to use baby shampoo for Smokey and I just started using it for Cookie (our Border Collie mix) too.
There is a sandy-grainy like build up on my scalp This is also accompanied by an itch. Even after I wash my hair, the grainy like build up is still there. It is NOT flaky what so ever. My hair has also started to fall out and at the end of my hair, a white little grain is at the end. Hair will not stop falling out. I have gotten blood tests at a dermatology office and everything was normal. I also have tried about very type of zinc pyrithione shampoo, at the highest concentrations.
Every morning, I strip my bed and wipe down the plastic cover I have on my mattress. Before bed, I wipe it down again and put on the clean sheets. I am usually able to get a good night's sleep. But in the morning, the sheets are slimy and itchy with the buggers again. This week, I tried something new that seems to be working: I sprinkled flea powder on the carpet--even under the bed.
But it makes prefect sense. In always stressed out. I have it bad on my feet. I use a towel to sratch between my toes but it leaves it raw and bloody. The fluid filled bumps r down there and there is cracking. Its only on my left foot the right feels great. The left drives me crazy i sratch everyday. I used to get alot of bumps on my hands as i was yunger. I kept popping them. Thankfully they are gone and the itchiness too because ppl see the hands alot. My foot drives me crazy.
I can usually can pin the itching down to sweat, humidity, wearing clothes that aren't cotton on my legs or showering without a filter. I don't use soap on my legs. I also try to keep them moisturised with Extra virgin olive oil (ordinary olive oil has been chemically extracted) or 100% coconut oil. I also recommend research into candida and how it can effect the skin.
I bought Head and Shoulders Citrus Breeze shampoo, applied it to my scalp only, before I shampooed, on a dry head. I left it on my scalp for ten minutes, wet my hair and washed it with the shampoo already on my scalp, rinsed, and washed my hair two more times, scrubbing thoroughly. For the first time in forever, my scalp smelled so fresh when I dried my hair and on the second day after washing, NO SMELLY SCALP.
I just brought a rescued chi-pom, and the lady who had him says she had a wood stove in her house with very dry heat. This little 4month old dog is going crazy with itchy skin (no fleas, I checked). He has dandruff and is scratching constantly. Any suggestions?
Both contain oatmeal and salicylic acid. I must use both. If I just use the shampoo, she itches but if I use them both together as directed, we can usually sleep at night. The ear solution for cleaning is called Epi-Otic by Virbac. It says that the active ingredient is salicylic acid as well. I don't use a topical flea product.
During the treatment I used Aqueous Cream to moisturise my eyelids and occasionally I use it now but less and less as time goes on. My eyelids aren't back to their normal colour but they are not dry at all or itchy and definitely not swollen, so I'm very happy. The lady said it was caused by an allergy because it was cleared by cortisone. Hope this helps someone.
Thanks, I'll look into the Malaseb shampoo - hope it is more than an anti-dandruff (Head and Shoulders) shampoo. I understand the benefit of medicated shampoo, I use a prescription KetoChlor shampoo, which contain Ketoconozole and Chlor... and is widely used in the Westie community. It doesn't do the job for our dog, but it may help control a condition that is just starting. I had our Wilson (name of dog) to the vet yesterday and got a steroid shot, ketoconozole tablets and an antibiotic.
Hi there! I hope someone out there can offer some insight. I have an almost 7-year-old Boston male who is a very, very picky eater. We tried every brand under the sun and the only food he would eat unfortunately was Beneful so that's what we were feeding him. On his last vet visit the vet recommended Natural Balance. I wanted to get him on something more nutritious, so I gradually switched him over to the Natural Balance limited ingredient chicken and sweet potato variety.
My Yellow Lab is 8 1/2 months old, she is in very good health overall besides this, spayed, all shots, on interceptor, and IAMS puppy food / large breed (coming off gaining to much weight 78.5#) About 2 weeks ago while i was bathing (use oatmeal shampoo) her i noticed this red area on her back, i looked farther into it almost looked like blisters? also on her neck right about where her collar sits . .
And a doctor advised me to use Denorex, which is a dandruff shampoo. It helped the rash fade away, but it would come back in a couple days. I really need some advice that can get rid,or help get rid of this problem,it would definetely be appreciated.
