Avatar f tn re stressed your biliruben count increases, which makes processing normal toxins, like alcohol, in the liver more difficult. So, when stressed, or having been for that week, alcohol wasnt processed as well by my liver and the side effects were greater chance of racing heart, sweating etc, just like drinking a heap, but caused by a little amount.
Avatar n tn As noted above, many Asians have trouble processing alcohol due to certain genetic predispositions. Better safe than sorry. It can be reduced (or at least slowed) by special diets and medications.
Avatar m tn When you drink alcohol, you are consuming water, ethanol (drinking alcohol), and things like sugars and fats, depending on what’s mixed into your drink. Your body can store sugar, fat, and water, but it has no way to deal with alcohol other than to filter it out. When alcohol gets into your bloodstream, your body essentially treats it like poison and prioritizes processing it.
Avatar f tn Now I work in a hospital lab where clearly we test all sorts of bodily fluids. Well, last night I was processing a HIV viral load sample. Well, it had been spun down and all that we got was the plasma. Well, while I was handling the specimen some of it leaked out the tube and got on my gloves. I immediately freaked out. I took off those gloves and immediatley washed my hands with soap and water and than washed down my work area with alcohol swabs.
Avatar m tn My guess is that your liver is at its limit for processing alcohol and that you are experiencing acute alcohol poisoning. If you do not get control of this The damage can be irreversible. One of the most horrific deaths out there is liver failure and liver cancer One suffers so much.. I pray you get a handle on this and go for help as it is dangerous to cold turkey alcohol.
Avatar n tn Alcohol consumption prevents the liver from dumping emergency sugars that the body needs when glucose levels start to drop because the liver is busy processing the alcohol instead. So a person can have a very severe hypoglycemic episode and not be able to recover because the liver is not doing its proper job. This is made more complicated by the fact that being in a drunken haze blocks the awareness of warning symptoms of both high and low sugar levels.
Avatar f tn If u sip it over the course of 45 mins or an hour, then not much of the alcohol will get to ur baby as ur body is processing it in very small amounts. Plus fetal alcohol syndrome is caused by the alcoholic/ regular drinking pregnant woman, not a once in a while drinker who never gets drunk.
988694 tn?1332359479 Just wondering if when consuming alcohol hypo people get palpitations, like feeling hyper. I am not adjusted yet with my meds. Every time I have a glass of something I get that, is it just me or wine and thyroid do not go together? Other times I get a headacke right away.
Avatar m tn I had to have my biopsy quickly (one week after seeing the breast surgeon). Fish oil was a concern because it thins your blood. So we decided to just go with the multi vitamin. supplements can be helpful but I think they have to be considered like medication Everything has side effects. BUT . . . my son was already doing much better--- This was when he was 5.5 yrs. So I wasn't feeling like it was necessary.
Avatar f tn Another thing to consider is that your body may not be processing alcohol efficiently, which could indicate digestive problems. A doctor visit including a liver panel (blood test) would be a good idea.
Avatar m tn Hi child psychologist is not sure whether my child is suffering from sensory processing disorder. Wants to have him evaluated. We´ve already gone through 8 theraphy sessions with one psychologist and now she wants us to go to another institute to have him checked out. At first she said it´s a thing of setting limits at home, then after having me describe the most difficult moments of the day she phoned and said she suspects a sensory issue.
Avatar f tn t eat anything for 2 days, I think you know what you need to do. Stop drinking any alcohol. I used to drink some alcohol occasionally with friends in my twenties and thirties. I haven't had any alcohol for more than 2 years. I don't miss it at all. The cost of wine and beer is a factor too. Both my husband and I don't drink any alcohol. We're saved a lot of money by not drinking and it gets easier as time goes by. Good luck to you.
475300 tn?1312423126 My understanding is that your genealogy has a lot to do with it, in that countries that have ancient histories of producing wine/beer have had longer for their bodies to adapt to processing alcohol. This explains why native americans, eskimos, asians (although there is rice wine in asian history), etc.
Avatar f tn Does Synthroid affect the processing of alcohol? Since going on it (50mcg), I have noticed I experience a sort of hangover even with low alcohol intake (i.e. less than 2 beers). It is not, however, like a normal hangover, but almost like I have ingested too much salt. I will have a headache, but it is not the classic spinning, throbbing, nauseous feeling. Any ideas?
Avatar f tn I am not too familiar with blood alcohol, but I would think that maybe you could have been dehydrated and that could have caused the reading. Try drinking more water next time.
Avatar m tn Is there risk for infection if the superficial nonbleeding wound was caused by knife cut during large specimen processing?(such as lung, liver,...). The blood is not dried. Would HIV in undried blood on the knife be transmitted via cut? 2. There are small vessels in dermis. Would HIV be transmitted via a cut into dermis? Or did it need a deeper cut into larger vessels?
Avatar f tn its a neurological pediatrician. shes also got to get blood work done again to check on her red blood cells because there abnormally large.
Avatar f tn People who drink heavily tend to be very low on thiamine because the liver is working to process the alcohol in your system as opposed to processing other things (B vitamins for example). Severe Thiamine deficiency can have a whole slew of problems and for the reason above a lot of alcoholics can progress to the point where they need to start taking Thiamine intravenously. It's a serious state that is usually treatable but very dangerous if not taken care of.
Avatar f tn Your body is still adjusting to a drastic experience, so it may not be able the added strain of processing the alcohol. I would call your dr Monday and ask if it ia something considered normal or something to worry about. I hope you feel better!
Avatar m tn Ferritin levels are not normally linked to alcohol intake so I am not sure why you mention drinking alcohol unless your have already been diagnosed with alcohol related liver disease. Since your ferritin level is above normal, your doctor will need to evaluate the results and perform other tests to determine exactly what is going on. While it can cause anxiety knowing something is not as it should be...
