1840402 tn?1355432565 A UTI is nothing to play around with. Left untreated it can travel to the kidneys and cause a kidney infection that can be dangerous to both you and your child. Amoxicillin is one of the most widely prescribed antibiotics during pregnancy and has not been shown to cause any harm to a human fetus. Take the medication to clear up the infection, the last thing you want is for it to get worse.

Avatar n tn Renal CT scan showed 1 mm stone in right kidney, 2 even smaller stones in left kidney. Was given hydrocodone for pain and phenagren in case pain meds cause nausea and told to see a urologist asap. My question is, if the stones are still in my kidneys how can they be causing all the lower abdominal pain and pressure. This pain is worse after I walk much, and when my bladder is getting full before I urinate. Urination does NOT hurt though. I have had no fever at all.

1194973 tn?1385503904 So I know this is really off topic, but I also know many pregnant women get these while pregnant so they might be able to help me. Apparently I have a UTI in addition to the other problems, and I was wondering what they can also cause. I've been cramping and getting back pain where my kidneys are. (They also said I have an upper kidney infection) And the doctor said it can cause vomiting and nausea. Has anyone else ever heard of this?
Avatar f tn ve always been perfectly healthy but ended up with one in each pregnancy. UTIs are very common in pregnancy and cause kidney infections when left untreated. With my first it came on so fast I thought I was having premature labor.
1959722 tn?1338778115 If you think you have a UTI or a kidney infection you need to go to the doctor and get antibiotics. Kidney infections can lead to dehydration, which is bad for you and baby.
1403754 tn?1327998912 After multiple courses of antibiotics I was finally free of infection, but I still deal with chronic kidney pain. I was sent to a urologist to see if he could find a source for the blood and protein in my urine. He could find anything wrong. Because the high pain levels made me nauseated, they had me on anti-nausea meds. I finally jumped through all the hoops to get Medicaid and was referred to a nephrologist.
Avatar f tn You need antibiotics. Your rememdies only help to limit uti not cure it.
Avatar f tn I have an urinary infection but I'm really scared for my baby, tomorrow I'm going to the Dr for another fisit and I think he will give me antibiotics because I have back pain and under my belly hope it I'll be ok.
Avatar n tn I have had a bladder/kidney infection for about 2 months now. I have had four antibiotics. First was suprax, which gave some relief for a few days, then levoxacin, then ciproxin, then sefaklor. I had a cytoscopy that revealed the bladder infection. I have very bad pain in sides, back, and abdomen and am on pain medication for this. Burning pain in urethra and frequent need to urinate. Last night I was in hospital with IV antibiotics.
Avatar n tn I am about 3 weeks pregnant and I have kidney pain on both sides. Is there anything I can do to help my kidneys? This is my first pregnancy.
Avatar n tn Elipsis, I had chronic UTI's from 2 months until about age 14 consistently, ending up in the hospital on IV's more times than I can remember. It took five or six years of daily antibiotics to get mine under control, and I was left with severe scarring of my left kidney, so it is the size of a toddlers and functions very low if at all anymore. Since getting them under control, I have had one or two infections a year.
Avatar f tn This passed and all was fine until a month ago, I started having back pain again and discomfort when weeing then the pain started to go higher up my back, I went into hospital in agony and was immediatly put on a drip of iv antibiotics and given pain relief. after a week they had changed the antibiotics - as they didnt work and gave me some more, these helped abit but upon discharge I was still in pain, I also had a very swollen ankle to the point where I couldnt walk.
Avatar n tn I had this pain sensation in the scrotum and rectal area. After I developed a kidney infection, I was treated with Cipro antibiotics. The infection cleared only to develop epiditimytis a few weeks later. Further infestigation was done, and after several cystoscopies it was decided to proceed with a transurethral resection of the prostate as well as resection of the bladder neck. This was determined due to the fact that some outlet obstruction was found.
Avatar f tn I have kidney stones so I know the pain all to well. With you being in so much pain is it possible you have kidney stones that are trying to pass? The pain with that is comparable to contractions it hurts so bad.
Avatar n tn I have very bad pain in sides, back, and abdomen and am on pain medication for this. Burning pain in urethra and frequent need to urinate. Last night I was in hospital with IV antibiotics. US previously showed urine retention in kidneys and doctors thought because of narrowing of urethra due to infection this was the cause. I had another US yesterday which didn't show urine retention anymore but pain still the same.
Avatar f tn Uti is something that needs antibiotics to cure and if it goes untreated then can develop into a kidney problem which in some cases can cause early labour. Much safer to take the meds. I've been on the same antibiotics twice during this pregnancy and am now 36+ weeks and baby is perfectly healthy.
2176548 tn?1340677817 I have had kidney infections before. I found heat helps with the pain. You can get ThermoCare Heat packs meant for the back. If you attach it a bit higher than the back and towards the side it helps. It stays hot for 8 hours. How long it is painful depends on how well or how quickly the meds work. Your doctor or pharmacist may be able to answer this question better. Good luck. Hope your pain doesn't last long.
Avatar f tn I finished all of the antibiotics but I am still experiencing flank pain (upper abdominal, lower pelvic area, and upper and lower back). I also still have White Blood Cells in my urine. Even though I took all of these meds, can it be that I still have a UTI , kidney infection or kidney disease? I am in the process of getting a renal and pelvic sonogram but it is a long time from now because of the holidays. Please help! Pain is unbearable.
Avatar f tn If you have kidney pain I'd get to the doc asap! I had a kidney infection with my son at 25 weeks and it sent me into labor thankfully they were able to stop it after multiple bags of iv fluids and iv antibiotics and a 4 day hospital stay.
9584608 tn?1413678892 It will hurt with pressure when you urinate and eventually cause a burning sensation and a bit of pain and aching in your lower back (kidneys).
Avatar f tn m 34 weeks and was given antibiotics at the hospital on Sunday. The pain got worse and I went back last night and was given different antibiotics to try. From what I've read kidney infections can be dangerous for mother and baby during pregnancy and I'm concerned that I haven't been given proper checks. Maybe I'm overreacting but I just feel a bit uncared for medically.
Avatar m tn I don't think kidney stones themselves can cause erectile dysfunction (I've never heard of that). But I do know that urogenital infections can and do cause ED. Infections almost always accompany kidney stones. Did the ED go away yet?
Avatar n tn I have been out and on antibiotics for about a week and a half. My question is can you have kidney pain this much after recovery?? I feel like the pain is coming back. It is nothing like how bad it was the first time, but I definitely have some pain again in the same spot. The doctors think a UTI caused my infection in the first place, but I have no symptoms of a UTI now. I had some itching a few days ago, but that is gone now.
Avatar n tn went ahead and treated me for kidney infection. now they say no kidney infection because culture was neg. Antibiotics caused yeast infection. They treated me for yeast infection. Also saying they think I have pinched nerve and will do an MRI this week. Went back to dr still in pain and was running low grade fever. Still had white blood cells in the urine. Again culture was neg. Gave me a shot of cortizone in my hip and a 15 day script of prednizone.
