1840402 tn?1355432565 A UTI is nothing to play around with. Left untreated it can travel to the kidneys and cause a kidney infection that can be dangerous to both you and your child. Amoxicillin is one of the most widely prescribed antibiotics during pregnancy and has not been shown to cause any harm to a human fetus. Take the medication to clear up the infection, the last thing you want is for it to get worse.
Avatar f tn Uti is something that needs antibiotics to cure and if it goes untreated then can develop into a kidney problem which in some cases can cause early labour. Much safer to take the meds. I've been on the same antibiotics twice during this pregnancy and am now 36+ weeks and baby is perfectly healthy.
Avatar f tn your body is probably immune to the antibiotics, hense why they aint working ,plus some antibiotics do cause other infections,as your doctor to further tests to rule out kidnet stones ect.
1194973 tn?1385503904 ve been cramping and getting back pain where my kidneys are. (They also said I have an upper kidney infection) And the doctor said it can cause vomiting and nausea. Has anyone else ever heard of this? I thought it just caused problems with urination and nothing else. How would it even affect the rest of the body?
Avatar f tn You need antibiotics. Your rememdies only help to limit uti not cure it.

Avatar f tn Around 3 weeks ago I had a really bad bladder/ kidney infection and took antibiotics for 5 or 7 days and 3 days ago I noticed I have swollen tender lympnodes in the right side of my neck. Also I suffer from anxiety and some hypocondria I tend to rub them and check on them alot could the constant rubbing cause them to hurt more or grow more? And my minds pretty much set on cancer. I'm scared. Also does anyone know what can help the tenderness and help it go down?
Avatar f tn I had diarrhea before I got the antibiotics but I read that depending on what part of the bladder ot affects can cause diarrhea. I have a kidney issue so I get them alot. I know when I was younger and it spread to my kidney I had diarrhea and couldn't keep anything down and my taste buds were affected this happened.
Avatar n tn CBC normal, though ER doc said all the antibiotics could possibly mask something. Renal CT scan showed 1 mm stone in right kidney, 2 even smaller stones in left kidney. Was given hydrocodone for pain and phenagren in case pain meds cause nausea and told to see a urologist asap. My question is, if the stones are still in my kidneys how can they be causing all the lower abdominal pain and pressure. This pain is worse after I walk much, and when my bladder is getting full before I urinate.
Avatar m tn I don't think kidney stones themselves can cause erectile dysfunction (I've never heard of that). But I do know that urogenital infections can and do cause ED. Infections almost always accompany kidney stones. Did the ED go away yet?

9584608 tn?1413678892 UTIs can cause early labor and you will lose the baby if you're not far enough along or you do not treat it early enough ): it's extremely sad. Even being a bit dehydrated can cause a UTI and can cause you to lose your baby. Get your antibiotics as soon as possible momma!
Avatar n tn I have had a bladder/kidney infection for about 2 months now. I have had four antibiotics. First was suprax, which gave some relief for a few days, then levoxacin, then ciproxin, then sefaklor. I had a cytoscopy that revealed the bladder infection. I have very bad pain in sides, back, and abdomen and am on pain medication for this. Burning pain in urethra and frequent need to urinate. Last night I was in hospital with IV antibiotics.
Avatar f tn Hi, it may be because you are hypersensitive to beta lactums (penicillin, cephalosporin like cephalexin) and it is known to cause skin rash, blistering, swelling and itching in susceptible individuals and you should better avoid this drug including penicillins in future and should go for other alternatives. If it is allergy, it can be managed by using of appropriate anti-histaminic and steroids after consultation from physician.
Avatar f tn No major visible damage to kidneys, minor signs of chronic kidney disease in an ultrasound but they said nowhere near end stage chronic kidney disease. After 2 days of fluids and a brief treatment with antibiotics (which they discontinued when culture came back negative) his creatine was down to 1.6, BUN of 74 and they sent him home on a kidney diet.
Avatar f tn It is a kidney infection. I've been given antibiotics and sent hone.
Avatar f tn Calcium Oxalate Dihydrate (Weddellite) 10% Calcium Oxalate Monohydrate (Whewellite) 45% Carbonate Apatite (Dahllite) 45% The first two are food related but the last one (according to what I read) is an infection. I read that you are suppose to be on antibiotics when you have Carbonate Apatite in your kidney stone and have UTIs (which I get often). But my PA won't put me on antibiotics because my UA did not show an infection.
1123420 tn?1350561158 I was on antibiotics for a bladder infection I didn't even know I had. They say the infection could cause more problems then the antibiotics. (I guess preterm labor is the risk with a bladder infection)I've been taking cranberry pills since the infection to try to prevent future infections. Most importantly drink plenty of fluids.
Avatar f tn If she does have one then she needs to get antibiotics, if treated then it will be absolutely fine but untreated can lead to kidney problems which can cause preterm labour.
1711570 tn?1309811718 Recurrent urine infections could be due to various reasons. Most common cause is stones in kidney which is blocking urine pathway. Other causes are changing sexual partners frequently, pregnancy, diabetes and of course childhood infections. The urine can also be due to retention of urine anywhere in its flow due t obstruction. The obstruction can be due to abnormality of structures since birth, stones or diseases like tumors(unlikely). Females are more prone to urine infections.
