1396846 tn?1332459510 Well a couple days off the antibiotics, I started getting feverish again, and the pain in my kidney came back. Well I called the doctor and she had me come in and they did some bloodwork and a urine test. Once again there is blood in my urine and elevated white cells, which indicate the infection is still there. She gave me another prescription for antibiotics and said that she is going to order a CT of mykidneys to see what is going on. I am worried why it won't go away.
1194973 tn?1385503904 ve been cramping and getting back pain where my kidneys are. (They also said I have an upper kidney infection) And the doctor said it can cause vomiting and nausea. Has anyone else ever heard of this? I thought it just caused problems with urination and nothing else. How would it even affect the rest of the body?
Avatar f tn You need antibiotics. Your rememdies only help to limit uti not cure it.
Avatar m tn I don't think kidney stones themselves can cause erectile dysfunction (I've never heard of that). But I do know that urogenital infections can and do cause ED. Infections almost always accompany kidney stones. Did the ED go away yet?
1840402 tn?1355432565 A UTI is nothing to play around with. Left untreated it can travel to the kidneys and cause a kidney infection that can be dangerous to both you and your child. Amoxicillin is one of the most widely prescribed antibiotics during pregnancy and has not been shown to cause any harm to a human fetus. Take the medication to clear up the infection, the last thing you want is for it to get worse.
Avatar f tn If she does have one then she needs to get antibiotics, if treated then it will be absolutely fine but untreated can lead to kidney problems which can cause preterm labour.
Avatar f tn With kidney infections while pregnant and untreated could cause dozens of other problems for you and baby as well as after pregnancy Good luck and I hope everything works out for you
Avatar f tn What tests did they do to tell you you weren't fully emptying your bladder? Did they do a CT scan? This is an old post but I know others suffer from the same thing. I went through a point where I felt like my bladder was a waterballon. like any pressure on it would cause something to rupture. Well, one night something did and i was urinating nearly pure blood all night. Super dark red. I was drinking liters and liters of water. When I went to urgent care, they said there was no infection.
Avatar m tn No blood was taken, what would cause a kidney problem. I have looked at her pee and there was no blood in the pee.
Avatar f tn Uti is something that needs antibiotics to cure and if it goes untreated then can develop into a kidney problem which in some cases can cause early labour. Much safer to take the meds. I've been on the same antibiotics twice during this pregnancy and am now 36+ weeks and baby is perfectly healthy.
Avatar n tn went ahead and treated me for kidney infection. now they say no kidney infection because culture was neg. Antibiotics caused yeast infection. They treated me for yeast infection. Also saying they think I have pinched nerve and will do an MRI this week. Went back to dr still in pain and was running low grade fever. Still had white blood cells in the urine. Again culture was neg. Gave me a shot of cortizone in my hip and a 15 day script of prednizone.
Avatar f tn You need the antibiotics if you have a UTI. It's a bacterial infection and won't go away without it. Macrobid is safe during pregnancy. Having an untreated infection to on is dangerous for you and your baby. It can cause you to have a kidney infection and go septic (which is when the infection gets so bad it goes into your blood stream). Take the meds and you'll be fine!
Avatar n tn I have been suffering severe right flank/kidney/back/right side pain with swinging fever for two years. Last July i was found to have a pelvic mass which was successfully treated as an in parient. I had approx 8 weeks where i felt back to my old self, since then i have had recurring symptoms as above, i am hospitilsed every few weeks, they get symptoms under control with medication, i have had mri scan, ultra scans, all normal.
Avatar m tn gave antibiotics but because it was caused by sport injury i could not see what antibiotics had to do with it so did not take. now my girlfriend tells me it really is caused by infection and because i didnt get antibiotics for it long ago it will be too late and i will just have to live with the pain. is this true? it stops me from running, jumping, kickboxing, playing with my kids etc..but not from sex by god! never that! but seriously, does anyone know answers to this?
Avatar f tn Stones can be extremely small like a grain of sand or much bigger. But they do cause pain and discomfort when they start to move and can cause recurrent kidney infections as they damage the inside of the urinary tubes as they move. Your daughter may experience pains in her tummy like wind, this is called renal colic. Whether your daughter still has an infection or a kidney stone it is important that she drinks a lot of water.
Avatar f tn I was wondering if anyone has had any heart rhythm problems attributed to antibiotics. I have pvcs/pacs, all tests, ekg, echo has come back completely normal. Im just worried about taking a new medication,, afraid it may cause the palpitations to be worse, better yet cause a dangerous arrythmia!! Any advice would be great!!
Avatar n tn If the pain is dull than get to a urologist ASAP. Kidney infections left untreated only get worse. They can cause other problems as well. My pain has come back, so now my doctor is sending me for another CT scan monday. unfortunately i have to wait that long. my pain is getting worse, but not as bad as it was. doc thinks i may have a blockage in my kidney cause my infection was so bad.
Avatar f tn I am also very anti-antibiotics. My recommendation is to take a probiotic - like acidophilus or do the probiotic yogurt. It at least helps put back the good bacteria in your stomach the antibiotic is stripping out.

Avatar f tn i almost lost my kidney a year ago and they can only give me a low dosage of antibiotics for a bad infection! The antibiotics are not working and the pain hasn't gone away after three days. They measured the baby and said he is already 7.5 pounds and fully developed! Through my whole pregnancy these doctors have been lousy and they haven't checked my cervix at all and I've only had two ultra sounds through out my whole pregnancy!!
Avatar n tn Hey- just a quick question, can any of the tx meds for Hep C cause kidney problems? I just have had some issues lately and was wondering if they could be linked to tx.
