Avatar f tn Hello. I am on my 3rd year of being on Loestrin 24 FE and in the first month or two I had the regular spotting and breakthrough bleeding. However, in the past couple of months I have experienced spotting and breakthrough bleeding all over again and that is not normal for me. What could be going on? I take my pill at the same time daily and there haven't been any changes of lifestyle.
Avatar f tn Has anyone ever switched from Loestrin 24 to Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo? Anybody ever gotten pregnant while on the "lo estrogen" pills? I switched from Loestrin to Ortho because I started not having periods AT ALL on the Loestrin and I had CRAZY PREGNANCY SYMPTOMS. I got a blood test but it was negative. Now I am on Ortho and am a little nervous because I've heard and read that some people have gotten pregnant on this pill. Any advice????
Avatar m tn I have been on Loestrin for about 4 months now, true it is low in hormones but I am taking it continuously for Endometriosis so I haven't had any spotting at all. Loestrin itself means low in estrogen.
Avatar f tn Also, I have very high estrogen levels so adding more of the hormone effects me badly. I haven't had any negative effects with the hormones on this pill...and I've been on many, many, many!
Avatar f tn s no evidence that lamotrigine decreases the effectiveness of the pill. The interaction is that the estrogen in the pill lowers your lamotrigine levels, which means you'll need a higher dose than you would off the pill. If you're really worried about pregnancy, consider a copper IUD or just use condoms with the birth control. I am on 200 mg lamotrigine and birth control pills right now.
Avatar f tn Anyone have any ideas or could point me in the direction of an article which could explain some of the details to me? I am educated and work in the medical field, so I should be able to understand some of the nitty gritty. I know I should go to my doctor, but my health insurance is so bad, it’s almost an impossibility for me to afford that right now.
Avatar n tn t sure if it was the estrogen or the progestin in the pill that was causing this so in a few months she may put me on some form of birth control that is not a combination pill. Not sure, but it is good to know that the higher estrogen pills seemed to have less of a tearing side effect for you. I hope you find relief for your endometriosis, that is tough :/ Thank you again for your responses, I really appreciate it.
Avatar f tn Din mean to post yet but low dose of estrogen nd progesterin sry for spelling. i have my alarm set on ny phone to remind me daily so i dnt miss it. So far it has good effects just waiting for a period which doc said will b very light. I. did read bad reviews but what don't have bad reviews now a days everyone is different. Avatar n tn I have been taking Loestrin 24fe for about a year, I have had increased amount of discharge that is white, kind of creamy and has a little odor to it. I have recently been checked by doctor to find out what is going on: nothing found, no yeast, no bacteria, no std. He has had me trying douching with different things and nothing seems to be working and I feel like I am putting my body through more by doing this, could this be my birth control?
181789 tn?1269794404 So I had a breast ultrasound and showed a mass that is benign..I changed BCP to one that has less estrogen in it. I also cut out caffeine, soda and meat to experiment with the pain. I haven't been eating much meat only if it is free of hormones and pesticides especailly beef..which I rarely eat. I found that switching over too the lower dose estrogen pill really helped. I don't drink soda anymore and seldom eat meat. I need my caffeine though.
405614 tn?1329144114 Are the headaches the main reason that you are feeling icky? I haven't had a period in 15 years, however, I can tell you that migraine headaches are effected by fluctuations in hormones. I went to a neurologist that only specialized in headaches a few years ago, because I was having them almost daily. I cut the caffeine out of my diet and made a few other dietary changes, which really helped. Also, I was put on a higher dose of the beta blocker I was taking.
Avatar n tn You can safely skip your period for an extended amount of time. Studies show no harm is done in skipping periods for even long amounts of time. Just don't take the placebo pills the last week of your birth control pills, instead go directly to the next package. Have fun on your vacation!
Avatar f tn I am concerned about the innitial effectiveness of the new pill because instead of starting at 35 mcg of estrogen I am starting on 20 mcg (will my body be used to the higher dose and cause me to ovulate)? I started the triphasic pack at the time that I would have started a new pack of my old pills ( on time after inactive week). The package insert doesn't have any information on switching brands. Should I be concerned about pregnancy?
Avatar f tn I am currently on birth control (loestrin 24) but I have been taking this pill for months and have not had these kind of symptoms with it before.
Avatar n tn My gf had not been on birth control for a year or more. She began taking Lo Loestrin Fe on Oct. 20, the first day of her period. The side effects (increased acne, severe anxiety and depression, emotional lability) were so severe for her that she decided to stop before the pack was done. I believe she took roughly 2 weeks and a few days of the pack (maybe 3 weeks total), then quit them because she was so miserable.
Avatar f tn Thank you so much for the help. I'm on the birth control Loestrin. By the name of it, I assume it's a low estrogen pill. Does this give you any more information that you can pass on to me? By the way, I am going to call my doctor to set up an appointment tomorrow. I'd like to prepare myself with knowledge though if I can.
Avatar n tn Hi there, I may be able to advise the exact treatment only after I examine you. There are many new pills available in the market with lesser side effects of weight gain, mood changes etc.Birth control pill containing Drospirenone and ethinylestradiol may be helpful since they have lesser side effects. Drink plenty of water everyday and avoid oily fried foods to prevent acne. For more queries and assistance do consult your gynecologist before starting any new pill. Keep me posted.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know the "right" combination of medications for someone who needs to suppress menstrual periods and is also taking Lexapro and Lamictal for Major Depression with Bipolar 2 ? My daughter tried taking Yasmin continually (not taking the "fake" week of pills for 3 months) but experiences almost daily cramping, hot and cold flashes, nausea. The gyne was stumped as to which BC pill would be best, as Yasmin is for the PMDD, but causes the side effects for her.
Avatar f tn I stopped taking ALL meds including the birth control pills in August of last year. I had a full period in September, the doctor said probably remnance of the bcp. Then I had another in October with heavy mucous and signs of ovulation. I was tested on day 3 and my estrogen was normal but my FSH was 120. My doctor said she didn't know what to make of that.
Avatar f tn I started the birth control le loestrin fe at the beginning of August (but I didn't wait until after my period came to begin taking the pills) I haven't had my period in those last four months. I had some weird symptoms like nausea and breast tenderness and discharge from late September to late October but not so much anymore. Is it normal to miss your period for that long after starting birth control or specifically lo loestrin fe?
Avatar n tn Also the effects of oestrogen dominance can be countered with the help of progesterone. Hence you should consult a gynaecologist for an evaluation. Hope this helps. The answer is based on information provided. Exact advice is not possible without a proper examination and investigations. You are requested to consult your Doctor. Take care and keep us posted.
Avatar f tn Laser will not get to the root of the disease/lesions and because of that lesions continue to spread because each lesion has estrogen in it and it takes estrogen to feed it. I hope you find the right medication to help you as that is very important. I got lucky and the BCP Marvelon has worked wonders for me none of those other drugs have.
Avatar m tn t had a checkup for a year or more, she could go in for one now and mention any issues dealing with estrogen and having no libido, as you describe, during that appointment. Of course, with any sexual activities, you need to entertain a good amount of foreplay with her that might trigger her libido.

The first month I moved to it from Yasmin I had some spotting but the next 2 months were fine. I am have now been prescribed with metformin/gylopphage. I have been taking it for maybe 4/5 weeks. I started at 500mg and now I am on 1500mg. I am thankfully not getting any of the bad side effects.
