Hello All. I'm really new on the panel and I'm searching for help. In the last two weeks I have not been able to have a BM. My doctor gave me some samples of amitiza 24 mcg. I've been taken them 2 per day for the last 4 days - One at night and another in the A.M. With the 1st tablet I had a BM. I have not had another BM since. It doesn't seem that I'm having any normal digestive sounds or movements. I don't even have the urge to have a BM.
The first couple weeks my wife and I both noticed a big improvement with my symptom of ADD. Than all of a sudden it stopped working. I told my doctor, he changed it to Bupropion 300mg XL. Its been a week and a half since its been changed and no improvement. What happened to make it quit working? Will it start if I give it some more time?
My daughter began amitiza and it has worked wonderfully, however, she is spotting in between periods. Is this common?
The injections have greatly helped me, (until they just stopped working as well after getting them for 2 years). Very unusual for them to stop working as well. The injections can work for up to 3 months or longer.
It's well worth a try for you to ask about getting them. They were approved for migraines by the FDA in October 2010.
I'm dealing with the same type issue. I am 33 & my body stopped working in the past 6 months. I am hoping they fig it out with my next tests. I was in ER last week because it had been 17 days since I had a BM - and that hurt. Now, it's been 7 days since my last BM - I am on softeners, fiber, miralax, water, amitiza & NOTHING! I'm beginning to get worried.
Aww. Been there, still there now. Just had my colonoscopy. I found that ant-acids have been helping the gas. They somehow make their way to my colon. As far as pooping I finally got bad enough that I couldn't go because the poop was larger than the opening that seem to close off and not let anything out.
I learned that the more I tried to go the tighter my muscles in my colon would get. I could not go from eating foods and the gas would bloat and come back up my small intestine and burp up.
No which I'm surprised, sounds like it could be useful but he hasn't mentioned it. I've been on colofac for IBS which worked for a couple of weeks initially but then stopped. Can't even remember the names of half the meds, mostly laxatives and stimulants,. duclolax, mirolax ( i think) milk of magnesia, senakot ( which crippled me) movicol, fybogel, fibre sure ( just adds fibre to diet), 2 pints of the prep stuff because it had gotten so bad, enemas..
Background: I'm a 26 year old female. Health nut. Fruits/veggies, whole grains, beans, lentils, hardly any dairy, and small meat portions a few times weekly. Drink water only, no soda, but 2 coffees per month and one glass of wine or beer per month. Non smoker; exercise often. I do NOT take medications at all. ***I have 1-3 normal bowel movements daily.
Have you tried taking magnesium citrate every morning? Have you tried Amitiza? I have not tried Linzess yet, but Amitiza is pretty good for me.
You could try taking walnut hull and wormwood preparation for parasites to see if that helps you.
I wanted to let you know that I went on Amitiza for about three weeks last year and got violently sick after my lower intestine stopped working- this was after I had switched to Amitiza. My doctor actually found a slight blockage in my instines, they had let it get that bad and I was vomiting constantly.
I don't want to sound gloomy here, but seriously, I had to switch to Miralax, which is a lot quicker and yet is not like a laxative(is gentle and safe to use long term).

Everything started in January , I meet this girl at the place were i was working ,well we started to talk ( she had a BF at the time and I have a wife. .... one day she invited me to her house around middle february ... we end up having oral sex and 1 minute unprotected sex and we stoped because we did not have comdons( there was not ejaculation )...
