Aldara treatment warts

Common Questions and Answers about Aldara treatment warts

aldara

535760 tn?1213891166 I found using Aldara to clear up the majority of warts, and then using a different treatment (such as cryo) to clear any remaining warts seemed to be effective. I used a combination of TCA and Aldara, and have been wart free for a month now (took 3 months to entirely clear). Aldara has some discomfort associated with it, but I found it less painful than TCA (though much more itchy!). Any treatment for genital warts is uncomfortable though.
Avatar f tn Would it help to stop a weekly podo treatment and let the warts develop then get electrocautery performed again? Perhaps last time was too early in the infectious stage. 4.What's the average time between infection and warts start clearing up? Thank you for your time.
Avatar n tn The problem here to me is not entirely the warts, but after ending the aldara treatment i am experiencing redness around the areas of treatment and also other areas. The redness looks to be spreading like spots differing in size. I have had protected sex twice in the last couple of months and i am worried about STD's. Could this be a primary herpes outbreak or is it normal for the skin to react this way after ending aldara treatment?
Avatar n tn I noticed small warts on my penis about 1 month ago..doctor prescribed aldara...since then I've had about 10 more grow out..what the hell is up with this crappy *** drug they prescribe to patients??? I took all the STD tests and came out negative...
Avatar m tn Just started a treatment of Aldara today. I always seem to have a few small genital warts on me. Does anyone know what I can expect. I am 31 and healthy in every way. I have been receiving cryotherapy for 3 years and they always come back. I was told that Aldara will help get my immune system involved in fighting the virus so I will have a better chance of losing the warts. Has anyone out there used thus treatment ?
Avatar m tn later you should start the application but only on the warts, visible ones only... do not put aldara on bumps you just think can be warts... you should seek a doctors advice to confirm if those are warts...
Avatar m tn Welcome to the forum. Your dermatologist has much more experience using imiquimod (Aldara) than I do. We don't use it as the main warts treatment in our STD clinic and I have personally treated very few patients with it. Please confirm my replies with your dermatologist. 1) The research studies with imiquimod applied it only to overt, visible warts.
Avatar n tn t resolve over this period that is not a sign that something bad is going to happen however). That you have warts continuing to appear while receiving Aldara treatment is also unusual. If I were you, I would seek the input and care of a dermatologist at this time. Perhaps what you are treating are not warts.
2206935 tn?1373638605 No one treatment is better than another. People react differently to each type of method used. Your doctor may try to use liquid nitrogen and freeze your warts. I do not recommend surgery. Your warts will resolve eventually on their own anyway, be patient.
Avatar f tn t resolve with trichloroacetic acid, my guess is that they are not active warts -- maybe skin tags or simply hypertrophic (overgrown) tissue -- a form of scar -- where the warts used to be. If skin tags, the imiquimod (Aldara) will have no effect away. If warts, they'll eventually clear up -- either from the treatment, or on their own. And it sounds like your gynecologist was uncertain.
Avatar n tn im doing it when i get back to the states...ive gone the aldara treatment twice now and ive had a horrible last 4 months, side affects and warts still present. cyro them *******!
Avatar m tn As the treatment with aldara is over and I still have the pimples and THEY LOOK AND FEEL VERY MUCH LIKE WARTS (I have been browsing the net and looking at some pics) I wonder whether it is worth consulting another physician, going back to the same physician (as he asked) or keep applying aldara. I wonder whether the pimples are really warts. I would like to hear you medical insights. Here are some pics: http://img300.imageshack.us/img300/7070/21092008232lc9.jpg http://img146.imageshack.
Avatar m tn Hi i was diagnosed with Anal warts and was prescribed with Aldara. My doctor didnt really elaborate on how many times i should apply it but i did 2x per week (mon and friday) since its too expensive! this was my before treatment pic http://s3.amazonaws.com/medhelp_images/user_photos/277373?1339513577 and this is my 1st week treatment http://s3.amazonaws.com/medhelp_images/user_photos/277374?
Avatar f tn Aldara Cream should be applied 3 times per week to external genital/perianal warts. Aldara Cream treatment should continue until there is total clearance of the genital/perianal warts or for a maximum of 16 weeks." https://www.rxlist.com/aldara-drug.htm#dosage If you decide to use it, please clarify that you understand the instructions, because 3 times a day is VERY different than 3 times a week.
Avatar m tn In other words, in one third of patients, warts persist or recur. Be sure you follow the treatment advice exactly. If the warts don't clear up, or if they return again, you should discuss alternative treatments with the dermatologist. Or discuss it with him or her now, since you can't afford Aldara. There are other equally effective treatments that cost much less.
Avatar n tn My concern is that the new warts that have shown up will grow and spread without immediate, aggressive treatment. I have little faith in the Aldara to keep the warts in check given all that I have read. Do I need to urgently move up my appointment with my Doctor to, say, tomorrow or Friday of this week? 3. Can you give me any idea how long Aldara and/or cryotherapy will take to suppress the visible warts? 4.
1306047 tn?1333243591 Greetings, I don't come around here much any more, but two/three years ago I was quite active on this forum. Recently I may have had another outbreak after 2 1/2 years without. Doctor gave me Aldara. Thought I'd pass my thoughts along. I've had warts burned off with nitrogen and cauterized as well. Aldara doesn't seem to be an alternative to me. First, you have to apply three nights a week for three months.
Avatar n tn I was prescribed aldara for the treatment of genital warts about two weeks ago and have used it as directed by my provider. The patch of lesions is located on the shaft of my penis, are small, relatively flat, and 1-2 cm in size. I started aldara therapy roughly two to three weeks after onset of lesions. My only concern is that the Aldera isn't triggering an immune response like it should. I have no erythema, edema or any other typical "side effects".
Avatar n tn I was wondering what the cost to usually treat genital warts is..without health insurance?
Avatar n tn While other treatment options will remove warts quickly, it does not treat the virus so it is common for the warts to come back. I beleive Aldera boosts your immune system's response. I don't feel that 16 weeks is a particularily long treatment time, as people who have recieved other forms of treatment should wait 6 months to see if they are symptom free before moving on. Regardless, if one form of treatment does not seem to be working, it is a good idea to try something new.
Avatar n tn Do u know homeopathy has good result in removing these warts but one has to have patience for the treatment. Even I found n article under home remedies to remove wart by ginger. Make the ginger pointed like a pencil lead n then rubbing the wart will remove the wart. N this is pure herbal method n it heals after 2 to 3 days . U can try it n tell if u get success removing those warts. Plz reply.
Avatar m tn I'm a male in my early thirties. I've recently started to use Aldara on some HPV warts that I've developed over the last few months (what a pain). My dermatologist at the time gave me a sample and a prescription, and at first, I didn't feel anything. I wasn't sure if I was using too little, but I don't think so. I'm on my 6th treatment, and a few days ago when I masturbated, I found small tinges of blood in my semen.
Avatar m tn I understand there is a chance my immune system can suppress the virus. I am just starting my prescribed treatment of Aldara. My question is due to the location of the warts( no symptoms on penis or scrotum) is there a high chance of transmitting the virus through 'normal' vaginal intercourse? I am stressed to think this virus will impact my future relationships and be a risk that my future wife will have to overcome.
