aldara

Avatar n tn I was prescribed aldara for the treatment of genital warts about two weeks ago and have used it as directed by my provider. The patch of lesions is located on the shaft of my penis, are small, relatively flat, and 1-2 cm in size. I started aldara therapy roughly two to three weeks after onset of lesions. My only concern is that the Aldera isn't triggering an immune response like it should. I have no erythema, edema or any other typical "side effects".
Avatar m tn That is great that it is working. Was the doc unable to freeze them? Why surgery?
Avatar f tn Hello Doctor, I'm a 20 year old girl, and I have been going crazy for months and months now and I finally need to ask you after all the reading I've done on here. At the very beginning of December I noticed one or two skin tag looking things, my GP said it could be GW and gave me aldara but said to go to a gyno to confirm. One week after using aldara the bumps disappeared, and I went to my GP a few more times the next few weeks and she too said everything looked clear.
Avatar m tn if aldara not working go back to ur doctor....freeze off is not for genital warts....sometimes they hafta use laser surgery.
Avatar m tn I've been using Aldara for over two weeks now and am experiencing absolutely no side effects at all. Now I'm not disappointed believe me, but the one and only nice thing about side effects is that they indicate that whatever you are using is not "working" per-se but that it's doing *something*. Is this normal? Also, my doctor did a pretty deep freeze of the warts before sending me home with Aldara.
Avatar m tn I have a few questions about using aldara. 1) is it harmful to shave on off days from using aldara? 2) Can shaving make the warts worse? 3) Is sex okay when the cream is not on the skin? Thank you!
Avatar m tn Hello, I'm a male, 26yrs old. Can anyone describe their experiences with Imiquimod? I am on the 3.75% cream which my doctor has told me to use every other day for a month. In the first 2 weeks, nothing happened, only just a couple days ago I noticed a very slight indication that the medication might be working, but I'm still not sure. I have about 20-30 very small warts, and notice 2 or 3 of them showing a bit of redness and drying up a bit.
Avatar f tn Redness Swelling A sore, blister, or ulcer Skin that becomes hard or thickened Skin peeling Scabbing and crusting Pain Tenderness Itching Burning Most of these skin reactions are mild to moderate and they disappear when treatment is completed. They may be signs that the product is working. If your skin reacts badly or the skin reaction becomes too uncomfortable when using Aldara cream, wash the cream off with mild soap and water and contact your doctor.
Avatar n tn ve been using aldara for about 3-4 months now. It took about 6-7 weeks to start working for me. It cleared up my warts in about 8 weeks but had another outbreak. It has cleared up everything so far. I'm waiting to go on a follow up appt so I guess will find out soon. How long have you been using aldara? I also had a yeast infection when i was diagnosed w/ hpv.
Avatar m tn However, some articles stated that it is more effective for minimally keratinized warts (ie may not be effective for warts with harded skin) Try and finish your course (I thought it has 12 sachets per box). If you think it is not working and dont want to finish it, you might want to consider Podophyllotoxin? Although Podophyllotoxin is also said to be ineffective for highly keratinised warts http://www.nzshs.org/treatment_guidelines/Genital_Warts_2009.
Avatar f tn However the warts that were still present in the inside of my vagina were treated at the obgyn with Trichloracetic acid because the aldara was not working for me at all.
Avatar m tn Thanks for the reply empathy.. though I think you misread my question. My issue is that I'm NOT getting any redness, itchiness, etc. I am not expecting that the Aldara will work after three applications on the warts; I am concerned however that my complete lack of other symptoms i.e. redness, itchiness, blisters, etc. means that the drug is not working. I would like to see if anybody has used Aldara, not had any noticable negative side effects, and had it still be effective.
Avatar m tn The other morning after using my aldara cream overnight I noticed a lump under my skin where I applied some aldara. It is very tender to touch and very noticeable. I was wondering if this is a normal side effect and what I should do to make this go away and if I should keep using aldara on that area while there is a lump. Thank you.

If bleeding sores is a side effect of Aldara, why not just get the warts zapped or burnt, have the sore, let it heal and be done with it. That's my perspective. I've got one more month and the bumps are still there so I'm gonna stick it out and see what's up. I'd advise against Aldara and go with immediate destruction.
Avatar n tn s personal statement that Aldara and there was this one instance when a lady reported 10 week into the treatment that aldara only started working when she started scratching or scraping off the genital warts. So is it safe to assume that it's better to puncture the warts then apply aldara, or will that only make it worse?
Avatar m tn I'd return to the dermatologist for further evaluation to see what all is going on. if the aldara isn't working or you are somehow spreading it to other body parts by touching, perhaps you need these all surgically removed instead of trying the aldara to treat it. not to panic you but no easy way to ask this - do you have any underlying medical issues? also have you been tested for hiv?
Avatar f tn I was prescribed aldara about 4 weeks ago but was not able to use it continuously because I also get the doctor to put podophilin on the warts when they are visible and that sometimes cause the irritation of the area, hence, I had to stop aldara for a few times already when that happened. I had my Pap Smear done 2 weeks ago and the test result was negative. I also had Gardasil vaccination last week. My questions are: 1. My gyno confirms that I don't have any warts inside my vagina.
Avatar m tn If that isnt working, get them cut off, then treat with aldara. your skin takes 45 days to surface, so it just takes time. Here is where im at.... I was in the same boat as you 1 year ago. I didnt get it taken care of and it spread EVERYWHERE. I just had surgery today to remove about 35 around my shaft and HUNDREDS around and IN my anus. Dont **** up like I did and go get those taken care of YESTERDAY. I cant stress that enough. DONT WAIT!
Avatar f tn i have noticed now i have only had two small outbreaks in the past several months, and when i do get a few warts usually withing 1-2 days later the center gets a black spot and within 4-5 days after it comes up it is gone... im not against modern medicine but i think alot of thigns can be take care of yourself if you try and live generally healthy, and clean...
Avatar m tn I posted a question about a month ago regarding genital warts, I can't find the post, so here goes again. A couple of years ago I noticed warts on my anus, I thought they were skin tags so I did nothing about it. Eventually I had them checked, they were warts and I had them removed and was put on Aldara. I used what my dermatologist gave me but I had no insurance so I never actually filled the prescription. The warts came back months later.
Avatar f tn well a few months ago i began to get genital warts i used aldara and they went away not to mention the symptoms was very painful, anway a few weeks later i put alot of it on my inner labia but didnt have an warts i just wanted to make sure none were there, any way a few days later i seen these round white ulcers looking things on the outer part of my labia i didnt think it was from the aldara because of the first time using it i never got this but im not sure, i automatically thought it was herpe
Avatar f tn tas careful as i should of using it, but 2 days later this thing is painful as hell, i call my gyn and he tells me to come in, i told him i suspect is a side effect from aldara, he has a look at it and tells he he think it looks just like a herpes open sore, he sent me for a blood test for that. My gyn says that these side effects aren't alll that common but frm what i;m readin i think they r...?! so i'm confused... do i have herpes or is it just the side effect of the stupid cream....

Avatar m tn There are no over the counter remedies that work. If the Aldara isn't working, then you should consider having them frozen off by your dermatologist. Also some of us on here (who are not doctors) believe that a strong immune system can help the recovery. This means taking vitamins/supplements that boost immune systems, exercising, getting more rest, reducing stress, no cigs, no or much less alcohol, meditation, etc.
Avatar m tn the procedure was over 2 weeks ago, and i dont beleive this problem is related to the aldara cream. i think it is just very irritated, but it doesnt seem to be getting better and im worried it could be infected. i've tried applying vaseline at night, but it didnt help. i know when applying the aldara treatment, it is very important to be completley dry down there, but what about when im not using the cream, is it still as important to be completley dry?
Avatar m tn So, unfortunately I was diagnosed with genital warts a little over a month ago. I thought at first the warts were just right outside of my vagina, but after inspection, I'm realizing that I think there are some inside... not substantial though. I'm EXTEMELY PARANOID THOUGH. I was perscribed Aldara Cream for my external warts. I dont feel like they are spreading but I'm really not seeing much improvement with the warts.... Honestly I'm not really sure what to expect........
Avatar n tn i would stop the use and the redness/ swelling would go away and i would contine use and everything would be okay. recently i bought an aldara imitation cream, not the same brand name as aldara and have been experiencing more of a rash like reddish irritation where i use the cream. when i stop using it it will almost go away totaly but when i start back up using the cream the same rash in the same place will re appear. so im not sure if its the cheaper cream or if i have herpes.
535760 tn?1213891166 Still, I do not know how credible this information exactly is. I found using Aldara to clear up the majority of warts, and then using a different treatment (such as cryo) to clear any remaining warts seemed to be effective. I used a combination of TCA and Aldara, and have been wart free for a month now (took 3 months to entirely clear). Aldara has some discomfort associated with it, but I found it less painful than TCA (though much more itchy!).
