Aldara and hair loss

Common Questions and Answers about Aldara and hair loss

aldara

Avatar m tn The doctor called it vulvar dysplasia, and he prescribed aldara cream 3 times a week because he said that since there are so many a laser would be very painful and that we should try to remove some with aldara first. I have a few questions about using aldara. 1) is it harmful to shave on off days from using aldara? 2) Can shaving make the warts worse? 3) Is sex okay when the cream is not on the skin? Thank you!
Avatar m tn My question is do you think that this could be an STD or some sort of irritation from the sex or natural occurance? Also I had Molluscum Contagiosum (misspelled prob) once and treated it with aldara and since I saw these areas of concern this morning I applied it to the areas just in case since I had some cream left over. Am I just over inspecting possibly? I wouldn't think that any STD would show this soon but thought I would ask regardless.
Avatar m tn I have been using aldara for about a month on my genital warts and have had no burning or tenderness that I have heard people talk about on these forums. It has been working great and I am noticing my warts are starting to shrink. The other morning after using my aldara cream overnight I noticed a lump under my skin where I applied some aldara. It is very tender to touch and very noticeable.
Avatar f tn I had mild skin irritation while I was on it, but a week after I had stopped the Aldara I developed a rash around my anus near where I had been using Aldara and I’m worried it’s herpes. It was a red rash. It itched, felt irritated, and the skin was shiny. I would compare it to mild sunburn. I never saw breaks in the skin: no blisters, ulcers, or scabs. There were, however, tiny, red, separated dots in the rash around the hair follicles I think. I didn’t have any fever, aches, or tingling.
Avatar f tn At the very beginning of December I noticed one or two skin tag looking things, my GP said it could be GW and gave me aldara but said to go to a gyno to confirm. One week after using aldara the bumps disappeared, and I went to my GP a few more times the next few weeks and she too said everything looked clear. It took until late January to get into the gyno, she also assured me there was nothing there.
Avatar n tn I waited a month but no resolution or going away so I decided to see a dermatologist and he diagnose the MC. He used liquid nitrogen to freeze those and prescribe me Aldara. As far as I know, MC is not spreading anywhere it been in one place for a month about 20 or 30. My questions are as follows: 1)I don't have any girlfriend neither I am sexually active at all. last time I had sex was in last summer 2008. So, I don't know how I got those.
Avatar f tn I asked him to look at the warts - he told me there was no evidence whatsoever of warts. He then gave me thorough vaginal and anal exams. He could see hair folicles growing where I had get waxed (I get a Brazillian). He advised me to stop using the aldara immediately. He told me everything else looked healthy and normal. I used the aldara as instructed. I saw my first doctor on Friday and used it that night - then Sunday, Tuesday and Friday.
Avatar n tn I am at a loss what to do, the biopsy was high risk hpv, the site has been treated 2-3 times, the Aldara cleared a smaller wart near the biopsy site and Aldara has the lowest recurrence percentage of any treatment. I will try to get in to see the dermatologist ASAP, but should I ask for a biopsy to confirm? He may just want to freeze it, but I can t seem to clear the infection. Are there HPV experts I can go see? I am in the greater Washington DC area. What do you recommend?
Avatar n tn I did not know I had it and I started dating a girl months after that and the warts started to appear more and more; freaked the **** outta me. I have used Aldara and it works but I'm running out of it and I'm just so frustrated. I feel inhuman because of it. I just beg it goes away for good or a vaccine is developed to kill it.
Avatar n tn Yes, I'm not saying that Aldara acts on HPV itself. It is indeed the body's own immune system that gets rid of HPV-infected cells, however since the virus is not systemic and lays on the outskirts of your skin, it is hard for the immune cells to detect it and excrete cytotoxins that destroy compromised cells. That's why Aldara is marketed as "killing HPV from the inside out".
Avatar n tn s activity is, at least in part, correlated with the reaction that it generates. If you have been using Aldara for 4 weeks with no effect and little local reaction, it is time to try something else such as freezing with liquid nitrogen. In answer to your specific questions however: 1. No, the location has little to do with response. Warts that have appeared more recently tend to respond better.
Avatar n tn I just found out I had HPV yesterday and had my warts frozen and was given aldara to use in two days time. My question was, when would it be ok to masturbate again, and when would it be ok to have sex again?
Avatar f tn The following day I noticed I had discolored white spots on my penis that later on turned into shiny tiny pink pimple look alikes. I have quite a bit of them and starting to get some in the pubic hair area. They don't hurt. I payed my doctor a visit and told me it was genital warts. I got tested for STDs and came out negative. I've been using aldara tropical cream but haven't notice any difference. Is there some sort of treatment I may use to stop anymore from coming out ?
Avatar n tn Hello, I have had a yeast infection on and off for about three months. I went to my doctor three months ago and was prescribed medicine. One day after my appointment I noticed a few slightly raised bumps on the very inside of my vagina. After messing with them they became more raised, like skin tags. They have remained the same for 3 months (I haven't slept with anyone other than my boyfriend).
Avatar n tn Upon very very close inspection, many more of the bumps appear to have some sort of hair association than I had previously thought. A few have a hair growing right out the center, and others have a hair growing out of the side/bottom. Although warts usually appear on the penis and not the pubic region, I am a religious condom wearer and if I did have sex with someone where I caught this long ago, I would have gotten an std on the perimeter only- due to condom usage.
Avatar m tn I did drastically change my diet though eating more vegetables and fruits and taking a daily vitamin and reducing alcohol intake and not smoking at all. I will continue using aldara and hopefully *fingers crossed* all the warts will go away :) im very thankful and hope i dont need surgery which the date was already set for. so for all of you that are in the same boat as i am in I would strongly recommend taking aldara its worth a try!
Avatar f tn Only in the past 20 days, hair fall has gone up. Does hair straightening dry out the hair causing lack of moisture and thus hair fall?? I truly hope that this is temporary as you mentioned!!
535760 tn?1213891166 I used aldara with great success. However, I have read it has a higher success rate in females than males. Still, I do not know how credible this information exactly is. I found using Aldara to clear up the majority of warts, and then using a different treatment (such as cryo) to clear any remaining warts seemed to be effective. I used a combination of TCA and Aldara, and have been wart free for a month now (took 3 months to entirely clear).
Avatar f tn I just finished Sovaldi and olysio and no hair loss at all, in fact hair looked great I do have hypothyroid which is familial, mother , daughters have it, Check your thyroid levels That can effect hair loss, dryness etc( even my eye brows and under arms thinned from hypothyroidism ) You may need to be on thyroid medication such as synthyroid if it is off
Avatar n tn i would stop the use and the redness/ swelling would go away and i would contine use and everything would be okay. recently i bought an aldara imitation cream, not the same brand name as aldara and have been experiencing more of a rash like reddish irritation where i use the cream. when i stop using it it will almost go away totaly but when i start back up using the cream the same rash in the same place will re appear. so im not sure if its the cheaper cream or if i have herpes.
Avatar m tn I've been using Aldara for over two weeks now and am experiencing absolutely no side effects at all. Now I'm not disappointed believe me, but the one and only nice thing about side effects is that they indicate that whatever you are using is not "working" per-se but that it's doing *something*. Is this normal? Also, my doctor did a pretty deep freeze of the warts before sending me home with Aldara.
Avatar f tn My hair has ALWAYS been so thick and moisturized and healthy and now its dry and frizzy and falling out! Its awful im so embarrassed it literally never stops falling out.
Avatar n tn If your thyroid gland is overactive or underactive, your hair may fall out. This hair loss usually can be helped by treatment thyroid disease. Hair loss may occur if male or female hormones, known as androgens and estrogens, are out of balance. Correcting the hormone imbalance may stop your hair loss. Many women notice hair loss about 3 months after they've had a baby. This loss is also related to hormones.
