I noticed my dogs face near her cheek is swollen and her neck on the same side is also swollen, its soft in her neck not hard. It wasnt a gradual growth i just notices it last night. Shes acting completly normal shell let me touch it. She does have bad teeth but my vet has never been able to check her mouth for as long as ive had her. I adopted her and she not very nice with other people (we have to muzzle her and sedate her prior to going to the vet).
Any ideas of what could be causing this?

How would it be seen easily? What would the symptoms be for a soft tissue abscess? I have a appointment with the my dentist next tuesday, and I plan on asking him about my symptoms. There is something really bad going on in my mouth, and I thought with all the X-rays and dental work I have had done somebody would have found something by now. The other symptoms I can handle, and am working on with my doctors, but these mouth symptoms are terrible.
It was on a tooth than previously had a root canal performed on it. I was put on antibiotics, but the abscess moved into my cheek and my face became huge. My Endo. was unable to drain the abscess because of where it was located (under my cheek muscle), but went ahead and did the re-do root canal anyway after I was on antibiotics for four days. Presently, he cleaned out the old roots that were missed, but no pus or other type of discharge was cleaned out (I watched the whole thing).
I still need 2 crowns upper right, and one crown lower right with a few more cavities filled. My dentist says there is no signs of dental abscess, but I have been having a lot of bad symptoms that seem to be getting worse. I feel really ill all the time. All my teeth hurt, It comes, and goes for what seems like no reason at all. My face feels tight, and puffy sometimes. My eyes burn. I get headaches, and sensitivity to light.
hi dr....left side of my face feel stiff when i moved my muscle or jaw...i can see some nerve moving when i try to move my jaw...the stiffness come from the chick side of my face or beside my nose...i went to doctor and doctor said is due to infection because i has flu at the same time...i used to develop bell's palsy as well...what actually happen to me? is that an infection or something else?...hope to get reply soon....
She has swollen glands in the neck and cheek and inner ear pain or the left side of her face. She also has pain on the left side of her face and the left side of her tongue running down her throat. When she touches it, it prickles, like there should be an open cut there. There are swollen bumps on the highest part of her cheek bone. Her glands, ear, tongue, and lip hurt the worst after eating or drinking. Any idea what could be causing this?

Hi i started with really bad tooth pain and went to the emergency dentist who said its infected and got an abscess. They give me amoxicillin 500mg i started them yesterday teatime then last night my face started to swell up on the right side where the bad tooth is never had this before. Now i look like an hamster what i want to know is how long will it take for the tablets to work i have taken 4 so far. Also most of the pain as gone but still really soar.
Feeling very unwell, sometimes unable to get out of bed, pain on left side of face and head. Had x rays, cat scan, MRI, blood work. All normal except for slight thickness on left side. Nobody can find infection, and yet I respond to antibiotics to the point I am able to function, ei. Get out of bed, shower, go for a walk. I am currently taking ibuprophen for pain. Outside of this, I was a very healthy, active person.

I get a gross taste when I yawn almost feels like pus draining throught my 2nd to last upper molar on the right side of my mouth. I have had all my teeth checked by a dentist and no abscess has been found, or anything else that would explain the drainage. I have been seeing a lot of doctors recently, none of which seem to help me out with anything. I get some dizziness, and pressure in the ears sometimes as well. I also have what feels like swelling on my hard palate.
Hello.. I recently had an emergency abscess drained and a tooth removed because of the infection. I had the draining done on a Sunday morning and the extraction done on Monday morning. Monday morning I was very nauseuated, prior to the extraction. The dentist said this was normal. My face swelling had went down alot, but was not back to normal size. After the extraction (day 3) I am still nauseated at times. My face is still swollen, though not as bad.
I woke up on monday morning in extreme pain and with a completely swollen top lip, stretched nose and puffy cheek. Otherwise, just watch for swelling, cloudy drinking water and external holes. Like I said before, if the symptoms continue, a vet visit is a good idea for antibiotics and a firm diagnosis. Otherwise, if there are no more symptoms, then it's probably already resolved.

This only numbs the pain slightly and wears off quite quickly. Ive also got a swollen left side of my face and a lump on my gum. I know I need to see a dentist and probably get antibiotics but the problem is its christmas day and I wont be able to seek help for several days - possibly a week or more and I cant cope with this pain. Any advice on what I can do at home in the meantime to make it bearable?
I just took my cat to the vet because one side of his face was swollen. He said that he's got a tooth abscess in a healthy tooth and that the tooth should be extracted. He said it is unusual in cats and that they don't know the cause. He also suggested some antibiotics for a few days before the surgery to help with the infection.
Just wondering if it is worth trying to save the tooth. Go through the course of antibiotics and see if he gets better.
