Avatar m tn Hello, If you are having pain in the ischial region, then it is recommended that you get a CT scan or MRI o the area done to confirm the diagnosis. It does not look like an abscess which does not cause deep seated pain but confirmation should be done first. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor.
Avatar f tn Hello, From the symptoms it looks like abscess or kerion( fungal infection and superimposed bacterial infection). To confirm the diagnosis you need to get a bacterial culture of the discharge from the lump and a KOH examination to rule out any fungal infection done. Treatment is different for both. It is antibiotics for abscess and antifungals for kerion.
Avatar f tn 4 weeks ago I had what felt like an abscess in my rectum. After a few days I went to the toilet and passed out a bit of blood and what looked like an abscess. I went to the doctors the next day and he said that the bleeding looks like it's coming from further up and not near my rectum. After that I had a day of passing small amounts of blood and after that bowel movements were normal, no blood or diarhhea just a bit of mucus.
Avatar f tn Pain in abdomen can be serious and needs urgent medical attention. Some of the common causes of pain in abdomen are hepatitis or hepatic abscess, cholecystitis, perforated duodenal ulcers, appendicitis, diverticulitis, adenitis, abdominal abscess or hematoma, inflammatory bowel disease etc. You must consult a gastroenterologist as soon as possible for proper examination with tests like ultrasound, blood tests, biochemical tests etc.
Avatar n tn my husband had a huge abscess on his left frontal lobe, that along with the inflamation and fluid encompassed the majority of the area. Six weeks prior to finding this and the subsequent surgery, he was laid off from his job. 2 days following that he made an irrrational impulsive reaction by changing a password in a computer system so they could not log into the files until they figured out what happened(it took a few hours I guess).
Avatar n tn [edit] Breast cancer Breast cancer may coincide with or mimic symptoms of mastitis. Only full resolution of symptoms and careful examination are sufficient to exclude the diagnosis of breast cancer. Lifetime risk for breast cancer is significantly reduced for women who were pregnant and breastfeeding. Mastitis episodes do not appear to influence lifetime risk of breast cancer.
Avatar f tn I had an abscess in my right breast 10 years ago and it left a little lump after it healed. Two weeks ago I developed an abscess in the same spot. My GP recommended a week of antibiotics (Augmentin) and it started to drain on its own two days back. I feel a thickened area which hasn't gone down. Should I be worried? The abscess continues to drain slowly and I have covered it with sterilized gauze. Please help.
Avatar f tn You have already been taking antibiotics but the symptoms have worsened so you may need draining of the abscess and using antibiotics to treat non-serious infections and for a prolonged period can make them less effective at treating more serious infections causing antibiotic resistance. Amoxicillin is drug of choice.Metrogyl can be used as an alternative drug. A dental examination and X-rays are important for correct diagnosis and management of your condition.
Avatar n tn How would it be seen easily? What would the symptoms be for a soft tissue abscess? I have a appointment with the my dentist next tuesday, and I plan on asking him about my symptoms. There is something really bad going on in my mouth, and I thought with all the X-rays and dental work I have had done somebody would have found something by now. The other symptoms I can handle, and am working on with my doctors, but these mouth symptoms are terrible.

Avatar f tn m scheduled for a MRI tomorrow. Anyone ever have a situation like this? I was hoping it was an abscess, but now worried it could be return of cancer. I hear there is one breast cancer with these symptoms. any information you can provide will be helpful.
Avatar f tn Is that better and you are just seeing spots or do you still have symptoms? They do sometimes lance the abscess which it sounds like they do and often that and antibiotics will do the trick. However, sometimes the tonsils have to be removed. As to tonsilitis, that's a different diagnosis. Your doctor will likely swab the white spots. Keep in mind if you have no symptoms of a sore throat, it could be something like oral yeast infection from taking antibiotics.
Avatar f tn Hello, Ingrown hair or boil also referred to as a skin abscess, is a localized infection deep in the skin. A boil generally starts as a reddened, tender area. Over time, the area becomes firm and hard. Eventually, the center of the abscess softens and becomes filled with pus. Finally, the pus "forms a head," which can be surgically opened or spontaneously drain out through the surface of the skin.

Avatar f tn Well, without a clinical evaluation it would be difficult to determine the cause of your symptoms. Based on your description it is quite possible that you are having Bartholin's cyst .This cyst is formed due to blockage of Bartholin’s gland leading to formation of a fluid-filled cyst. A Bartholin's cyst is not an infection, although it can be caused by an infection, inflammation, or physical blockage to the Bartholin's ducts .
