Avatar n tn My dr told me if I had a fever over 100.4 for more than 8 hours to call her. For other symptoms she told me sudafed for nose, chloraseptic spray and cough drops for throat and tylenol for headaches. And just lots of fluid and lots of rest!
689528 tn?1364135841 10mg every day for the first five days and then every other day for the next five, in addition he gets a generic Zyrtec everyday. Now he just gets a zyrtec every day, and if his allergies act up beyond the zyrtec's control, like this time of year ,he gets a prednisone per day for 3 or 4 days and then every other day for two or until things calm down. Zyrtec can be expensive, but we actually found a generic brand at the dollar store! $1. for 14 pills, so we clear their shelves!

Avatar f tn YES I have been trying to get off it for what seems like forever! I am taking 1/3 of a 10mg pill and if I skip a day, uncontrollable itching. My body is literally left with bruises because the itching is so intense and will not stop. Please let me know if you have been able to cut it, I am getting desperate.
1524212 tn?1291837200 My doc said to use zyrtec for a cold if you have afib, which I do. Most antihistamines will up your blood pressure causing worse fib action. Have you ever had shock treatment? I'm thinking about it.
Avatar f tn Try taking home remidies like plain water steam, twice a day, it gives awesome results for cold, cough and watery eyes. This is free from any side effects. I do this all the time.
Avatar f tn I had a massive cold around 7 weeks and dr told me to take Claritin. My cold turned to a cough and they told me I could take robitussin or robitussin dm. Cough turned to bronchitis and bronchospasms and was put on cough medicine with codine for bedtime and an inhaler every 4 to 6 hrs and robitussin dm every 4 hrs during the day. But you should definitely speak with your dr.
Avatar f tn thanks I'll try it, of course at this point I might try most anything.
Avatar f tn I have had a sinus infection and bad cold for over a month now....it's the worst feeling ever. My Dr prescribed me amoxicillin for the infection but it didn't fully take care of the symptoms, it is safe to take though! Also on my list of safe meds are sudafed, Claritin and zyrtec. Hopefully one of those will help you ladies out!
Avatar m tn My dry eye is treatable with Celluvisc and Refresh Gel drops and like all with dry eye ( moderate and above ) there are good and bad days--However I have run into a difficult situation related to the common cold. What meds can I take that will not effect my dry eye ???? I recently had a cold and took cold meds and my eyes burnt so bad ( even with drops ) that it was near unbearable . The Doc and Pharmacy both said it was the antihistomine and I quit the meds which relieved the dry eye symptoms.
Avatar n tn Cough drops are safe and I believe zyrtec is safe I would double check with your doctor about allergy meds. My doctor let me take zyrtec when my allergies got really bad I ended up getting a bad allergy cold one day I took allergy meds the next I would do cough medicine I couldn't tell if it was just allergies or an actual cold and I couldn't take multi symptom cold medicine only one that treated cough only.
Avatar f tn I was told to take zyrtec. Now I have a rash on my upper thighs. Is it the generic zyrtec? Would the regular Zyrtec do the same? Have you ever heard of Diamox being prescribed for Meneire's disease? I find nothing in the literature about it and am hesitant to take it as it makes me very tired. I need to sleep about 3 hours a day when I take it. I don't want to experience vertigo again.
Avatar n tn I was prescribed zyrtec during the first trimester when I got a really bad head and chest cold. It helped dry my sinuses up. However if you are getting an INFECTION you will need antibiotics. You need to go to your Dr and see what truly is the problem. They will tell you what you can and can not take. Neti Pot is a great way to help clear your sinuses I used one the whole first and second trimester I had bad congestion.

Avatar n tn My mom just saw a doctor for that exact same reason. She was told that it's a form of hypothermia. Every time she goes outside when it's cold her whole body suddenly gets itchy. She now wears slippers and socks in the house. I'm not saying that you have this, but it could be your problem.
Avatar f tn t seen your doctor yet, you should still be able to call them and they should still be able to give you medical advice for a cold. In all honesty, you may need an antibiotic. I did this last time. But also keep in mind that you can also go see your regular doc for a cold. It does not have to be your OB. Infact, my OB wants me to go see my regular doc for sickness (unless I already have an appt. scheduled w/ him). But if I get sick between appts., I go see my regular doc. Good luck!
Avatar n tn If my skin touches somethin cold, like if I'm holding a gallon of milk or a cold drink in my hands and it touches my arm, or like yesterday at work, was on the computer, the arm I was using for the mouse, was on the counter, which is marble, and was very cold, my arm it turns bright red an swells up and itches. Never had this happen before, been happenin last couple days. And idea what that is??
850029 tn?1238857820 i use 2 types of antihistamine for hayfever, i use them on alternative years - i find if i use the same one for 2 summers it does not work for the for the 3rd summer - but by alternating them i am fine.
714275 tn?1295226265 Greetings, I'm 40 years old and shower daily with a soap that leaves my skin dry. I don't like moisterizer soap or lotions on my skin. It doesn't feel clean to me. I've been like this my whole life...never had any dermatology problems. Anyway, I live in the California desert where tumbleweeds grow. Lots of people are allergic to the pollen including myself. Two years ago, my doctor told me to take Zyrtec. It worked within minutes!
Avatar m tn Never was able to find a cause but my doctor had be start taking an everyday allergy medication like Zyrtec or Claritin. Once I started that the hives went away and haven't came back. I would first see if you can find a common irritant you can eliminate. If not try taking Zyrtec or Claritin.
Avatar f tn Zyrtec, tylenol cold and sinus, Sudafed
