zyprexa

874521 tn?1424116797 Zyprexa is still on the market. There was just a concern at the time that the company under reported the rate at which it causes diabetes. That issue has been addressed. All atypical antipsychotics can cause diabetes, Zyprexa being the one with the greatest potential.

Avatar f tn The finding is the latest in a succession of recent reports contradicting the long-held assumption that the new drugs, which include Risperdal, Zyprexa and Seroquel, are safer than the older and much less expensive medications that they replaced. The risk of death from the drugs is not high, on average about 3 percent in a person being treated at least 10 years, according to the study, published Thursday in The New England Journal of Medicine.
Avatar m tn Then, about 2 ½ years ago I had a near-psychotic meltdown, mostly about the devil and evil spirits, and was diagnosed with OCD and prescribed Anafranil and Zyprexa, which helped with the irrational thinking and obsessive thoughts a little. Between now and then, I have been diagnosed with OCD, Social anxiety disorder, GAD, major depressive disorder, ADHD, and most recently, aspergers/high functioning autism.
616450 tn?1228433627 I've been taking Zyprexa at bedtime for the past few nights, per Endo #3, and I feel a lot better, folks. As a matter of fact, I felt better almost immediately after taking the first dose. It seems to act quick, like Xanax, but stays in the bloodstream longer or something. Dr. Pretorius was concerned that I was getting a little too used to Xanax, so he wants me to try to gradually come off of that and he'll increase the Zyprexa dosage.

Avatar m tn Hi I would like to know if after three years of taking low doses of sertraline 25 mg and 2.5 mg of Zyprexa the nausea and dizziness I feel can be due to the discontinuation of the meds. I was prescribed due to a depresion an chronic anxiety conduct. I also experience a bbit of tingling in my hands and feet that goes on and off switching around.
1082697 tn?1260064616 Sounds like that Celexa was pooping out on you and you needed the Zyprexa to jump start it. Same thing has happened to me on more than a few antidepressants. Lithium also makes for a good booster drug, but most people don't try it as an add on because they think it's only for Bi-polar.
Avatar n tn i work with the elderly and am currently looking into training in the ombudsman program, which means in plain old terms, becoming an advocate for people who need help and don't know where or how to go about getting it...
1848481 tn?1319676852 It's only the second night taking it, not on any other medication at the moment, and it has completely woken me up (which is kind of an understatement)... I'm wondering if it's the beginning of a manic episode, or if instead of a sedative effect, for whatever reason it's having the opposite effect. So, my question (posed to anyone bipolar who's taken the med) is how did your body/mind react the first couple of days on Zyprexa?
Avatar f tn I lost my insurance and cannot afford the Zyprexa I have been on for nearly 10 years due to having panic attacks and anxiety. It has been 4 weeks since I took my last pill and have not slept very much at all and feel alot of anxiety and feel like I have bugs under my skin and have no appetite. I find it very diffifuclt to make it through the day at work and my mind is mush. I was told to take 5-htp and would make a big difference.
Avatar n tn I'm worried about the weight gain with Zyprexa, is there something else that could be used with the Prozac instead? Also until now I've also been taking 1 mg. Ativan in the morning and 1 mg Ativan before bed. Is it safe to use Ativan with the Zyprexa?
1713187 tn?1368462822 I have been off of Zyprexa for 9 days now and was on it for 47 days only. The past 6 days i have been feeling withdraw symptoms. Shacks, stomach cramps, cold chills, muscle tightness, teeth clinching almost like it put me into methadone withdraws! I am sure thats not it, but i am worried. I don't want to start another medication that has addiction properties. I cant find any solid info and i trust medhelp's info. Please am i right about any of this? Or am i going crazy again?
Avatar f tn Hello, I took zyprexa (antipsychotic) for 4 years and have taken cymbalta (antidepressant) for 5 years. I gained a lot of weight (50lbs), and started to have insulin resistance problems and high glucose levels. I was put on metformin 500mg once a day for a year. I was told that if I lost the weight my numbers would go back to normal. I lost 40lbs, I am exercising and eating healthy. My doctor told me that I could quit metformin.
Avatar f tn Hi, I am experiencing burning feet, skin sensitivity and pains in my hands and feet during Zyprexa withdrawal,I`ve been on Zyprexa for 6 years and off it for about 5 months now. Please let me know if the burning feet and all other symptoms will go away with time? Has anyone quit Zyprexa successfully? Please help with any information, many thanks!!
Avatar m tn There are some considerations when on Zyprexa, you will have to have occasional blood work done, as Zyprexa can cause high blood sugar, increased cholesterol and lipids. If you are at increased risk for heart disease, there may be some risks that you would want to talk to your doctor about.
Avatar n tn I was see a phyciatrist and he had me taken off of zyprexa since my liver enzyme went up and doing so well that if I have problem in the future that I can come back to see him. I had anxiety after stopping the zyprea so tried using herbal medicine but it didnt work so I went to my regular internist who checks my liver and cholesterol for anxiety medication. I had mentioned that I used kolonopine and it worked for me fine.
559058 tn?1215810834 Depakote made feel like a zombie. I hated it. I am soooo stable and normal with the zyprexa. I dont have any bad side effects and even my sex life is great. For me the zyprexa is so much better. I think depakote andlithium should be take off the market. But again thait is my opinion. There are much better meds out there than those two.
Avatar n tn In anycase, I am really depressed about this and am thinking of switching medications or just getting off the zyprexa itself. I am also taking 20 mg. of lexapro and this has not caused a past weight gain. Please help!
1257808 tn?1322762215 Please read all side effects on the meds you take. Always go with the lowest dose that works for you. Many pdoc's just randomly increase a med for no reason at all, disregarding that the lower dose works. The more of a med you take, the more chance of side effects. That's not to say you won't get any side effects on any dosage. Hope this is helpful.
Avatar m tn It is probably not a good idea to use Zyprexa (which is an antipsychotic) as a sleep aid. Zyprexa can cause both sedation and insomnia. The dose you took is relatively small, but it can still cause side-effects and withdrawal effects. Did your doctor prescribe this to you? If you are having trouble sleeping, there are many other techniques and medications that can be used.
Avatar f tn Thanks for the information. He started on Rispidone 18 months ago, and was changed to the Zyprexa when he began to have accidents while he was playing. Since then, his doctor had tried several combinations, like Ritilin, Zoloft, Clonidine, trying to stabilize the Zyprexa. None have worked, and have made some symptoms worse. Zyprexa alone is not helping either. It has been almost 2 years since he started taking medications, but I dont think that his symptoms were this bad before we started.
