You need to let your doctor know what is going on as soon as possible..You can't just abruptly stop taking Zoloft, it has to be tapered slowly. I suggest looking for a new doctor who actually has some understanding of the psychotropic medications he/she is handing out.

I am taking zoloft in pregnancy right now and no problems so far and I know many many many women on here and not on here who are taking zoloft or have taking zoloft during pregnancy.

I would have to agree with Paxiled. You were on Zoloft for a long time. When I came off of it, my doc put me on a taper as I came off of it. I did notice some side effects like naseau and increased anxiety, however I kept an open line of communication with the doc. I asked if it would be okay to go on a slower taper as I came off of it. He agreed and the slower taper seemed to help with the side effects.

thats why my anxiety got bad...so he wants to up the paxil and take me off the zoloft cause of the side effects. I cant even work im sleeping til 2 in the afternoon and stomach is so upset! Thank you for your input I really appreciate it!

I believe you can continue to take your Ativan as it is in a different class of drugs from your other meds. BUT.................I am NOT a doctor nor a pharmacist and I will tell you right now that you MUST check this out with someome with real knowledge of the interactions of medications. And that is NOT me! Zoloft, an antidepressant, normally reaches steady state in about a week and in my humble opinion, you should not still be feeling "really anxious and nervous.

Has anyone here ever taken Zoloft? If so wat were your side effects? I started Zoloft on Monday. I only took one pill n within a couple of hours I felt horrible! I had nausea n diarrhea. Today is Thursday and I still feel nauseas. Keep in mind it took one pill on Monday n no more after that. Please give me some input.

Zoloft has a fairly long half-life of 26 hours. A half-life is the amount of time it will take your body to excrete 1/2 of the amount of Zoloft in your body. I really suck at math, so I'll leave that up to you. Bottom line though is that it's not going to take very long. Couple days at most. Hell, you only took a grand total of 75mg. Drink lots of water and understand that your anxiety about "withdrawing" from that tiny amount of Zoloft IS just that......anxiety.

I use to take lexapro, but now on Zoloft, but anyways... the only thing I didnt like about lexapro is that I was always tired and had problems waking up in the morning on time for work... I have to get up at 4:30am in the morning and I would sleep right through... it is a good med... but the one that I like the best is Zoloft... it causes a little probs on getting up, but not as bad... I have also taken welbutrin and xanix...

I was recently tried on Zoloft and I thought the side effects I was having were withdrawls from my Effexor and new side effects from the Zoloft ... but it turned out I am allergic to the Zoloft and was having a reaction to it!

My question is, does Prozac have low side effects like Zoloft but does it work better? And should I be taking a SSRI or SNRI for depression and anxiety, what works better with less side effects?

Zoloft is a great drug, I have had panic attacks and anxiety for years and they went away after being on Zoloft and xanex as needed. It does take some time to find the right dose and the side effects to go away but stay with it!! Before I started the Zoloft I was taking 2-4 mg of xanex a day, after some time I was not taking any, and my life was normal again. Unfortunately after 12 plus years on Zoloft it pooped out on me a year ago...

Yes, it will get better. I felt worse when I started on Zoloft, but the effects do ware off and you will start to feel better. How long have you been on the pills? And what is your dosage? A higher doseage may mean that you are feeling the effects more, and it might be worth talking to your dr about reducing the dosage amount and building back up slowly......But have no fear the effects will ease with time.

I experienced the most significant side effects at about the same time period on zoloft that you are. Some good folks on here, plus my psychiatrist, advised me to wait at least 4-6 weeks, because it takes time for the meds to level out in your system. I'm on day 55 on zoloft and all my side effects are gone. Just my experience, though, yours may be different. I'd give it a solid 2 more weeks. Keep focusing on good things - what is better vs. what is worse.

I have been on zoloft for two weeks and the side effects are still pretty bad, without any benefits (it seems like it has been two years!). (I have tried lexapro, paxil, and celexa, but zoloft was the first AD I have taken and from my first experience seemed to produce the least side effects for me (although this time seems bad). I know it takes awhile for SSRI's to get working and initial side effects are common. I started taking 25mgs for a week and have been on 50mgs for a week.

I can relate to not wanting to take meds. I do take zoloft (50mg) and have for quite some time. Often my therapist suggests either taking a higher dosage or switching meds. For me to switch is like asking me to lop my arm off with a rusty butter knife. I just don't want to do it. My rational is how do I know if I'm truly getting better through therapy if I mask the symptoms? My goal is to be med free if possible.

Hi there, I had a episode about 3 months ago of unexplained anxiety, no trigger or history of it.. MD thinks hormonal change, I am 39 years old. I felt a little depressed with the anxiety and he started me on Zoloft at the beginning of November. I have been having the jittery caffeine feeling with this med consistently having to take klonopin ..25mg in the am with the dose as it seems to be works about 5 hours post dose.

I'm a psych PA and I prescribe Zoloft routinely. You don't mention the dose your doctor started you on, but if you were feeling more agitated and irritable it's probably a good thing you stopped. Most side effects will resolve within 2 weeks. Please let your doctor know that you've stopped the medication and why. If you're struggling with depression and/or anxiety I strongly recommend you consider therapy. It can be very helpful and has no side effects.

I started zoloft last night at like 9pm. 25mg. I have bad anxiety about being dizzy...huge phobia...so my doc suggested this drug to help. Obviioulsy I am TERRIFIED the drug will cause me to be dizzy. So I finally took it after many times putting it off. So I haven't noticed any side effects yet, and obivously it has only been less than 24 hours, so I am soo worried the bad side effects are coming...

t take it during pregnancy but I was started on 50 mg of zoloft. The side effects are bareable, but they were pretty bad for the first few days. I was really jittery and shaky, and I had no appetite. It can cause sleeplessness so I recommend taking it in the morning. I took it before 11 everyday otherwise I wouldn't take it because then I couldn't sleep. I felt like **** a lot but I mean...it wasn't the end of the world.

Try getting another prescription for something else like Lexapro or Welbuturin. To many side effects with zoloft. In the meantime try to get some low dose zanax to calm your nerves until you get different meds. Remember anxiety is an over exhagerrated nervous system that needs to be nourished and medicated because of imbalances in the brain. Does this run in your family?

I was on Zoloft for panic attacks, It never worked for me, I was on it for over a month with no results & I had no side effects!! But, they say everyone is different!! Best of luck & hope it works for you!
