Common Questions and Answers about Effects of zoloft and pregnancy

zoloft

Avatar f tn I've been on Zoloft my whole pregnancy. And I've never had that effect. Maybe you should call your dr.
Avatar f tn my doctor wants me to start on zoloft...any one else take it during pregnancy and what is or was your dose? when i read online about it i am pretty sure they dont recommend using it in tyour 3rd trimester though? any feedback would be helpful...
Avatar f tn Category A Adequate and well-controlled studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus in the first trimester of pregnancy (and there is no evidence of risk in later trimesters). Category B Animal reproduction studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women.
Avatar f tn I stayed on it through the first two trimesters of my pregnancy. And I had the support of my OB and my GP. There are risks, but that is with anything. Like you said Tylenol has risks. My dr's considered 50mg a really low dose, so I know that 25mg would be considered low. I wish I had saved the research my dr. gave me, but it listed out how Zoloft breaks down in your body and how the lower the mg the lower the amount gets to baby.
Avatar f tn Hey I also stop med because of my pregnancy I am now 36weeks+4 days and my second and third trimester were rough especially after my ex left me but I say try and continue without it .I started therpy when the depression got really bad but when u start to feel the kick and movement of your child I swear everything seems to just go away! !! I wish the best for u and yours .. and pray everything will work out for u!!!
Avatar f tn Zoloft is a great drug, I have had panic attacks and anxiety for years and they went away after being on Zoloft and xanex as needed. It does take some time to find the right dose and the side effects to go away but stay with it!! Before I started the Zoloft I was taking 2-4 mg of xanex a day, after some time I was not taking any, and my life was normal again. Unfortunately after 12 plus years on Zoloft it pooped out on me a year ago...
Avatar f tn One of the great ironies of depression treatment is that while depression can rob you of your desire for sex, the drugs that treat it can be much worse. Common side effects for women are lessening of sexual desire and ability to orgasm. However, this isn’t true for everyone. There are, however, some actions you can take that may help restore your sexual satisfaction. You may wish to discuss these with your prescribing physician.
Avatar f tn Also your friend or someone could have taken a drug either by a dr or not and have no effects and then you try it and something goes wrong. Everyones different. My friend was prescribed the zoloft by her dr and he assured her it was safe.....obviously not.
Avatar n tn Hello, new to the community here...I've been dealing with anxiety since I was 22 (am now 34). Been in therapy almost the entire time and on meds as well. Took Paxil and Klonopin until a few months ago. My therapist and ob/gyn switched me to Zoloft because my husband and I want to start a family. I LOVE the Zoloft, feel much better than I did when taking Paxil. Clearer, more energy, just more awake to the world in general. So...my problem is the Klonopin.
Avatar f tn lots of things is thought-about on why ED happens which has the employment of antidepressants. The antidepressant Zoloft for example, has listed erectile dysfunction as one of its side effects in men whereas Zoloft birth defects are listed in women. http://www.zoloftsertralinebirthdefects.
Avatar f tn Lastly, you just increased your dose of Zoloft, and it is common to experience a resurgence of those initial start up side effects again. Usually you would see those side effects start to abate in a week or two. So, to recap, I would ask for a more thorough assessment/diagnostic approach with your suspected hormonal issues. If need be, your doc can ever refer you to an endocrinologist (I would personally recommend that).
489656 tn?1249999983 i am on 100 mg of zoloft now for ocd and depression since my last child, and the dr has said its safe during pregnancy so im not going to stop it, altho i have been reading and ive heard its advisable to stop in the last trimester, i dont think i will tho the dr said he has many women who have taken it while pregnant.
Avatar f tn All meds come with side effects. And some of those side effects can be very bothersome. How long have you been on Zoloft? If it's been for a short time this side effect may go away. If it keeps up though, ask your Dr about changing to a different med.
Avatar f tn My doctor has just prescribed Zoloft and Ativan to help me cope. I am really worried about the effects on my baby. Is there anyone out there who has been on one or both of these drugs while pregnant. I desperately would like to hear about your experiences.
Avatar f tn I took Zoloft throughout my entire pregnancy. My dosage was 75mg. Zoloft is the most widely used medication of this type used in pregnancy and breastfeeding. I am not going to tell you to start up without talking to a Dr, but I am telling you is that most Dr's agree that it is safe for use in pregnancy. Good luck!!!
12693075 tn?1442246392 I'm a psych PA and I prescribe Zoloft routinely. You don't mention the dose your doctor started you on, but if you were feeling more agitated and irritable it's probably a good thing you stopped. Most side effects will resolve within 2 weeks. Please let your doctor know that you've stopped the medication and why. If you're struggling with depression and/or anxiety I strongly recommend you consider therapy. It can be very helpful and has no side effects.
Avatar m tn So i go on Zoloft and by the 3rd day I felt anxious, like I was on speed. I called my doc and she said to stio taking it. A month later I see her again and she claimed that it was impossible that I was feeling what I felt the first time (anxiety, jitteriness, tic increase, hard to think) becuase I had only been taking it for three days. She bascially siad it was all in my head.
Avatar m tn She said that it is a better drug than Zoloft and that I would experience less side effects. With Zoloft, I had gained much weight and was continuously having extreme fatigue. When I began seriously TTC-ing, I did research about Lexapro and found out that it is relatively safe. I stopped taking it three months before I got pregnant with my second one, not because I was worried but because I lost my health insurance and couldn't afford the drug.
Avatar m tn I had no problem with the Zoloft for 14 years and I am back on it now and have recovered from all of the phyciatric effects of this medication change. The Paxil on the other hand in my opinion is a dangerous drug. If you send for the side effect list from the drug company itself and not the pharmacy one because it doesn't list them all, then you will see all the horible side effects that this drug can cause. I am living proof that it does cause these things.
1481291 tn?1287793105 I am taking zoloft in pregnancy right now and no problems so far and I know many many many women on here and not on here who are taking zoloft or have taking zoloft during pregnancy.
763297 tn?1281379425 Thank you so much. I am taking Celexa 20 mgs and I know I cannot stop suddenly, it has put me in the hospital before.

Avatar m tn After I had my son a year ago I had very bad anxiety and depression and my ob at the time gave me zoloft. The anxiety eventually went away and I accredited that to the zoloft, so remai ed on it. Now that it has returned while I was on the zoloft I can see it is not helping, but rather my hormones were "off". Since zoloft is not advised during pregnancy I have d/c it and switched to the buspar yesterday.
Avatar f tn when i explained these symptoms to her she acted like they were not syptoms of Zoloft and Zoloft only stays in your system for 2 days and that i needed to get a checkup before she would even want to see me again. but i told her no thanks, well then, why did i start having these side effects before and after taking Zoloft. Any suggestions, comments, etc would be extremely helpful.
