Zoloft side effects muscle spasm

Common Questions and Answers about Zoloft side effects muscle spasm

zoloft

Avatar f tn Muscle spasms and cramps are a common side effect of antidepressants. The reason most likely is interference with the absorption of magnesium. Rather than using a muscle relaxing medication, possibly increasing side effects, I'd try a magnesium citrate or taureate supplement and see if it does the trick. I got this problem when I started antidepressants, and the magnesium solved the problem.
Avatar f tn Pain in the flank region could be due to various reasons like renal stones, muscle spasm, urinary tract infection etc. I would recommend that you get a urine analysis, ultrasound abdomen and consult a urologist for further assistance on this. Best.
Avatar n tn Apparently the ice freezes the muscle that is constricted and it relaxes eventually and eases the pain and with no side effects. The next day though my chest feels sore inside and I usually take only soups. Sometimes it hits me two or three nights in a row. This brings a terrible fear of night approaching and not knowing what to expect. And that I think compounds the issue. I have had H.Pylori and have been treated for it and it cleared up.
Avatar m tn ve had a few side effects. I read somewhere that muscle tightness is one of the SERIOUS side effects. I think I've had that but not so bad as the first day. I also cant tell if its tightness or just really bad restlessness that i'm feeling because I've had that too. anyway, I'm not sure if I pulled a muscle earlier when I moved my leg a certain weird way or if its the side effects from the Zoloft .
Avatar f tn Hi, I have frequent twinges in the right side of my head/brain (under the scalp), almost like a little muscle cramp, spasm or flash of pressure. It's not associated with a headache or any other symptoms, and it's not especially painful just distracting and disconcerting. Sometimes I have a lot of them (today for instance, I've had a twinge every minute or so) and sometimes I go days without them.
Avatar f tn When I came off of it, my doc put me on a taper as I came off of it. I did notice some side effects like naseau and increased anxiety, however I kept an open line of communication with the doc. I asked if it would be okay to go on a slower taper as I came off of it. He agreed and the slower taper seemed to help with the side effects. I am glad that you are seeing a psychiatrist to help you with your medication prescriptions and questions.
Avatar f tn didnt have any of the side effects... Only side effects im feeling now is this...
Avatar f tn I had terrible side effects from Zoloft not pregnant. I would be terrified to take while I was pregnant. It has to be very unsafe for baby. Hope you feel better.
Avatar n tn m paranoid about side effects, and I started to feel very disoriented at night and had side effects such as, muscle twitching, ticking, confusion, wierd vision change, so I told my doctor this and I was exspecially concerned about the muscle twitching, I get it all over my legs, arms sometimes in my cheeks, and sometimes even my abdomen, my doctor kind of shrugged it off thinking it was due to my anxiety and not my meds, but this never happened before my medication, maybe occasionally, but not e
10361664 tn?1409609407 thats why my anxiety got bad...so he wants to up the paxil and take me off the zoloft cause of the side effects. I cant even work im sleeping til 2 in the afternoon and stomach is so upset! Thank you for your input I really appreciate it!
Avatar f tn I believe you can continue to take your Ativan as it is in a different class of drugs from your other meds. BUT.................I am NOT a doctor nor a pharmacist and I will tell you right now that you MUST check this out with someome with real knowledge of the interactions of medications. And that is NOT me! Zoloft, an antidepressant, normally reaches steady state in about a week and in my humble opinion, you should not still be feeling "really anxious and nervous.
Avatar f tn Has anyone here ever taken Zoloft? If so wat were your side effects? I started Zoloft on Monday. I only took one pill n within a couple of hours I felt horrible! I had nausea n diarrhea. Today is Thursday and I still feel nauseas. Keep in mind it took one pill on Monday n no more after that. Please give me some input.
Avatar f tn Zoloft has a fairly long half-life of 26 hours. A half-life is the amount of time it will take your body to excrete 1/2 of the amount of Zoloft in your body. I really suck at math, so I'll leave that up to you. Bottom line though is that it's not going to take very long. Couple days at most. Hell, you only took a grand total of 75mg. Drink lots of water and understand that your anxiety about "withdrawing" from that tiny amount of Zoloft IS just that......anxiety.
Avatar f tn Facial twitches are caused by stress and anxiety, muscle fatigue, side effects of medicines, high intake of caffeine, Parkinson’s disease in elderly, magnesium deficiency etc. Hemi facial spasm may be seen in tumors, multiple sclerosis, stroke etc. treatment may include balanced diet with mineral supplements like potassium, calcium, magnesium, massages for fatigue, B complex supplementation like avocadoes, bananas, legumes etc. drugs like gabapentin, phenytoin are used for hemifacial spasm.
18070169 tn?1463175914 One of the most common side effects of antidepressants is muscle pain, and many people confuse joint pain with muscle pain. One of the reasons is that antidepressants interfere with the absorption of magnesium. Another problem is that interfering with serotonin also affects areas other than the brain -- most serotonin isn't in the brain, it's in the digestive system and also helps relax muscles and blood vessels. Most people experience this as muscle cramps.
Avatar f tn Hello there! What you describe can happen during medication changes. It is probably a combination of coming off the Lexapro and possibly a few side effects of the Zoloft. You should notice improvement after a week or two. If the side effects are bothersome, ask your doc about possibly prescribing a short term anti-anxiety med (like Xanax, Ativan) to help with the side effects. That's a pretty typical approach to managing the side effects or medication adjustment issues.
20632981 tn?1503687567 My question is, does Prozac have low side effects like Zoloft but does it work better? And should I be taking a SSRI or SNRI for depression and anxiety, what works better with less side effects?
Avatar n tn If mixed with these, Zoloft can cause serotonin syndrome. This includes fever, sweating, muscle stiffness, trouble thinking clearly, a change in mental functioning, sleepiness, or change in your breathing, heartbeat and blood pressure disorder. If this is the case, you should stop taking Zoloft and speak to your Doctor. I can never emphasise enough, always insist medication comes with a leaflet which states possible side effects.
2044839 tn?1331255841 I was recently tried on Zoloft and I thought the side effects I was having were withdrawls from my Effexor and new side effects from the Zoloft ... but it turned out I am allergic to the Zoloft and was having a reaction to it!
Avatar f tn I have been having really bad muscle spasms lately like to the point I'm crying. It's only on my left side though like my left hand, calf and left side of my back. It's not just during the night either and it's causing me to be so sore and tired. Has anyone else had this? Is this normal?
Avatar n tn There are certain causes responsible for muscle twitching like diet deficiency, drug overdose, and side effects of diuretics, corticosteroids, estrogens, exercise, benign twitches, and nervous system conditions like amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or ALS, muscle dystrophy, spinal muscular atrophy and myopathy. Your neurologist needs to look into these conditions one by one. The other possible cause could be multiple sclerosis and is a diagnosis of exclusion.
Avatar f tn They just put me on zoloft?? Anyone have bad side effects? I never in my life have had anxiety anda I have the worst:( please help??
Avatar f tn Zoloft, like other SSRI's, often makes anxiety worse before it gets better. Sometimes a doctor will prescribe something like Klonopin (which is basically a longer-lasting benzo like Ativan or Xanax) to take along with the SSRI for the first 2-3 weeks to help keep those temporary negative side effects at bay, then wean the patient off of them about the time the SSRI benefits kick in. Also, it is often recommended to "start low, go slow" with an SSRI.
Avatar n tn I too am on 175 - 200mg of Zoloft and I admit when first starting the medication I was feeling quite dizzy and nauseated. Dosage started at 50mg, then after a week increased, and every week increased until I reached 175mg. In the past my doctor has had me on Celexa and Effexor but Zoloft seems to work the best, for me that is. Everyone is different. I waver between 175 - 200mg depending on the kind of day I'm having.
Avatar f tn I stared zoloft 2 moths ago and was on it for 3 weeks the side effect was horrible dry mouth muscle pain in legs abdominal pain mostly loss of appetite and more anxiety. I stop and after 2 weeks i felt better for like almost 2 weeks. Now im back to loss of appetite dry mouth and muscle pain.
Avatar f tn I experienced the most significant side effects at about the same time period on zoloft that you are. Some good folks on here, plus my psychiatrist, advised me to wait at least 4-6 weeks, because it takes time for the meds to level out in your system. I'm on day 55 on zoloft and all my side effects are gone. Just my experience, though, yours may be different. I'd give it a solid 2 more weeks. Keep focusing on good things - what is better vs. what is worse.
