Zoloft side effects insomnia

Common Questions and Answers about Zoloft side effects insomnia

zoloft

Avatar f tn I experienced the most significant side effects at about the same time period on zoloft that you are. Some good folks on here, plus my psychiatrist, advised me to wait at least 4-6 weeks, because it takes time for the meds to level out in your system. I'm on day 55 on zoloft and all my side effects are gone. Just my experience, though, yours may be different. I'd give it a solid 2 more weeks. Keep focusing on good things - what is better vs. what is worse.
Avatar f tn I had terrible side effects from Zoloft not pregnant. I would be terrified to take while I was pregnant. It has to be very unsafe for baby. Hope you feel better.
Avatar f tn Zoloft has a fairly long half-life of 26 hours. A half-life is the amount of time it will take your body to excrete 1/2 of the amount of Zoloft in your body. I really suck at math, so I'll leave that up to you. Bottom line though is that it's not going to take very long. Couple days at most. Hell, you only took a grand total of 75mg. Drink lots of water and understand that your anxiety about "withdrawing" from that tiny amount of Zoloft IS just that......anxiety.
Avatar m tn Definitely a better choice than the Ambien for this kind of short term course. You should only need something to help you sleep until the insomnia side effects start improving, which they will. Typically, side effects start improving after about 2 weeks of therapy, give or take. Also, if you happen to be taking the Zoloft at night, ask your doc about dosing in the morning instead. Changing dose times is often fix enough for these kinds of side effects. Hang in there...it will get better!
Avatar f tn ve never heard of any of my acquaintances who take it complain of insomnia either. My side effects were low libido, weight gain, decreased appetite, and apathy, but nothing I couldn't manage. Take care.
Avatar m tn One of the side effects of Zoloft can be insomnia, but it seems rather odd that it would begin affecting you after 2 months. Everybody goes through bouts of insomnia, so it's possible that this has nothing to do with the Zoloft. I would advise giving it another week. If it has not resolved itself by then, speak with the doctor who prescribed the Zoloft. Even though you are on the lowest dose, he/she may have you cut the dose in half to see if that helps.
Avatar n tn Yes wellbutrin is stimulating and zoloft has insomnia as a potential side effect as well. Do discuss with your doctor. Trazodone is helpful with insomnia but adding it to your current mix may not be the best approach. Let your doctor decide what's best.
Avatar f tn t really work, or may just have annoying side effects, or even intolerable side effects, such as insomnia, or more often being tired all the time. Either one can happen. (One med kept me awake like drinking 20 cups of coffee. The same med put my mother to sleep for 18 hours.) Keep hope that there's a medication out there that will work wonders, and keep searching for it, and understand it's normal for any particular one not to work for everyone. Each one works for some.
Avatar m tn I was feeling good on 100 mg and side effects were subsiding. How long will it take to adjust to 150? I also was just put on 10mg of lisiniprol for high blood pressure. And I'm taking gabapentin for insomnia from the Zoloft. I really appreciated any advice! I've had Hiv OCD for a long time and it started up again over a scraped knuckle and cutting my thumb on a tape measure! All irrational and ridiculous but that's OCD!!! Really trying to live life and be happy!
Avatar f tn drowsiness, tremor, fatigue, diarrhea, dyspepsia, nausea, insomnia, loose stools, dizziness, headache, paresthesia, delayed ejaculation, ejaculation failure, xerostomia, anorexia, diaphoresis, and decreased libido. Other side effects include: agitation, pain, vomiting, abdominal pain, anxiety, hypouricemia, and malaise. See below for a comprehensive list of adverse effects.
1872071 tn?1320287532 Melatonin is a naturally occurring hormone in your brain. It doesn't interact with Zoloft. That said, melatonin doesn't work very well for insomnia but fortunately doesn't have the numerous side effects that most insomnia medications do. The best treatment we know of to date is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia which a Harvard study in 2004 demonstrated was better than medications and didn't have any of the side effects or long term expense.
Avatar n tn In general, Lexapro has fewer side effects than Zoloft and Luvox. Zoloft causes more nausea, and sexual dysfunction. Sexual dysfunction is also common with Luvox, but less than that caused by Zoloft. Withdrawal symptoms are highest with Zoloft and Luvox. However, due to lower protein binding in blood, Luvox gets cleared from the body pretty fast compared to Lexapro and Zoloft, so withdrawal symptoms can abate faster.
Avatar m tn Zoloft caused insomnia and sexual side effects for me. I could not even drink a 4th cup of coffee without feeling like I was on crack. I stopped Zoloft and went back on prozac. I stopped the prozac after a couple traumatic events with increased panic. For some reason i thought the prozac no longer worked. i doubt the zoloft would have either. The sexual side effects will happen with any ssri, but prozac was much more suttle and only lasted a few days.
Avatar m tn I know this was a really long post, but I truly do appreciate any information or answers. This is a really deep subject for me and I am sure others on this board.
Avatar m tn ve noticed side effects like insomnia, loss of appetite, tremor/shakey, headache, nausea, fatigue and such. I've also noticed something different about my left foot. it feels very weird. it feels kinda like it wants to move on its own. at first it didn't, but now my toes kind of just twitch a little. it doesn't bother me to walk or anything. I feel it more when i'm laying down or just relaxed. i'm a little concerned that it might get worse when i move up doses.
Avatar m tn If you had been taking the melatonin every day for a while, you can notice some side effects when stopping, mainly some rebound insomnia. I agree that you need to consider a dosage increase with your doctor. PLEASE don't let the Zoloft run out. You don't want that to happen and have to abruptly stop taking it. That will put you in a bad position and set you back. Find a new doc ASAP.
Avatar m tn You can look at my other posts they may help you. zoloft will cause insomnia and I myself could not put up with it. karen is correct you should gradually feel better after several weeks but..........I firmly beleive that side effects should be minimal. I think if the SSRi is correct the effect at first will be placebo like, you will feel nothing then gradually feel better.
Avatar m tn Needless to say I quit the Zoloft and guess which SSRI gave me none of these side-effects............Celexa. Probably just not the right one for you unless the floaters are totally unrelated.
Avatar f tn The Zoloft has helped my anxiety a lot but I have had bad side effects from it - almost constant weird/cloudy feeling in my head and headaches that are almost constant and so painful like no other headache I've ever had.
Avatar m tn I had insomnia and fibromyalgia. My doctor put me on Cymbalta. He said it would help me with sleep and pain. It was 2 weeks of hell, no sleep and constant pain and I wanted to kill myself!!! I was not depressed and have no history of depression. my doctor switched me to amitriptyline. It helps with sleep but not pain, I would never recommend Cymbalta to anyone !
Avatar f tn When I came off of it, my doc put me on a taper as I came off of it. I did notice some side effects like naseau and increased anxiety, however I kept an open line of communication with the doc. I asked if it would be okay to go on a slower taper as I came off of it. He agreed and the slower taper seemed to help with the side effects. I am glad that you are seeing a psychiatrist to help you with your medication prescriptions and questions.
Avatar n tn He is the one that can help you the most about complementing the Zoloft to get rid of your side effects, or change the meds.
