I have had bleeding gums and gum disease for years. Im 28yrs old now. Each time i go to the dentist they tell me about best ways to clean and floss. I try my best but still never seems to go away. I have brought a very good new oral b electric toothbrush to ensure I clean to the best of my ability. I also floss. I have tried natural mouthwashes and toothpastes containing herbs like myrrh etc which are known to help keep gums healthy.
Took my mother to the dentist finally since she had refused to go for several years and since shes been having problems with loose tooth and was a problem that needed to be addressed prior to spinal surgery. Dentist diagnosed her with severe gum disease that was causing bone loss and said most of the tooth has to be extracted eventually or they'll fall out. Cause may be cause of smoking (which she quit) or braces that she had at a late age.
I have been told that I have gum disease and have been refered by my dentist. I also have suffered with chrones disease for the last 23years and was wondering if this could be a factor to gum disease. My teeth are in good condition and I only have 3 fillings. I am 39 years of age. Please could you advise.
Im taking Celexa while on tx and my hepatologist advised me it was fine to take for the liver.
Its possible that previous history of gum disease could have caused the recession and now the gum disease is no longer present but a dental cleaning is almost always advised on a routine basis to maintain healthy gums.
A dental cleaning should remove any irritants and allow the gums to heal. If they're healthy already, there should be no problem.
About 1 year ago, I had a physical done and my blood work was perfect. I have been taking the generic for Zoloft, Sertraline, for about 8 months now. I did another physical 3 wks ago, and it showed my TSH levels off and my Cholesterol as 276 with high LDL cholesterol also. My HDL level was high, which is great. I exercise and eat very healthy.
just to add some more information I am being treated right now for the periodontal disease and the time of the incident I did not have any visible bleeding of the gums but I do have deep pockets (gaps in the gums) and deep gum recession for one of my tooth in the lower jaw. What are my risk of HIV after this incident?
My question to the forum is do I do the flap which will cost around the 3000 and get a healthy gum and keep my teeth - or get a full denture and although have false teeth will also provide a healthy gum but a decent smile as well.
Any advise would be welcome and any insight about why I should do any dentures is welcome as that is definitely sounding like the best option at this point.
I do know that recent research is indicating that gum disease (not cavities like you asked) are shown to increase the risk of premature and low weight babies. Have you had a dental evaluation prior to or during the pregnancy?

I did ask him about his dental situtation before TX and he did mention Gum disease. I don't know about the cavities. I wonder if the interferon might have excelerated the gum disease?
Hello to all Im a female who has an iud in place to prevent pregnancy which periodically causes me to get bacteria vaginosis I drunk a little 2 much on my b day and ended up giving and receiving oral sex with same sex first time and did not know her status but do know after she said she had gum disease in a later convo. My question is with the bv and her gum disease am I at risk?? And also what's my chances if she is positive with me going down?
I have never taken St Johns Wart but I am curious, does the Zoloft just not work any longer for you? I would not encourage stopping anything you have taken for so long without a doctors supervision. It could be deadly. Good luck!
Hello everyone. I have some gum problems as I have periodontal disease. I need to take some antibiotics to get the inflammation and bleeding down in my gums before I can get them worked on. I am afraid to take any antibiotics because it is a drug. I am sensitive to caffeine, alcohol, sugar, salt, and any source of stimulants where as I get heart palpitations and flutters.
