zofran side effects ondansetron

Has anyone taken Zofran and what are some of your side effects? My morning sickness has been horrible...the worst ever. I am usually in bed all day and feeling like I can't do anything. My doctor initially prescribed Diclegis, but it doesn't help me. It made me sleep all day, causing me to skip meals and drinks. It also have me bad headaches. So I asked my DR to please let me try something else. At this point, I'm in tears because I can't keep anything down. Dr calls in Zofran.

I have terrible morning sickness and I was given a prescription for ondansetron 4mg which is the generic version of zofran. I'm scared to take it because of the possible side effects and the warnings I've seen on TV. I don't want to take any risks when it comes to my baby. Any thoughts on this?

As with all meds, there are potential side effects and a specific contra-indication when liver failure is evident, but other than that, I have no hesitation in recommending it for CKF dogs.

Yours is definitely extreme. I understand now why they gave me only 4 mg tabs. Now the prozac, thats a different story for me. My first round of tx they started me on prozac before tx after interview with wife and then doubled it when tx started. This time I am on nothing but am headed to gp for script before I wake up dead. I have butt head syndrome magnified with the incivik and really need the smile pill. Seems like everyone else has it quite mild and is using as needed.

Ondansetron is Zofran hun. Its just the generic name for zofran. Even though theres a lawsuit, id say its more of a money maker. I took it both pregnancies and my babies came out fine. Youve got to look at whether the benefits outweigh the risk with ANY medication. If youre miserable and need to eat for baby, take it. My advice is try to only take it when u really need it, not on a regular basis. Stop as soon as symptoms ease up. Lots of water too.

Zofran is a serotonin 5-HT3 receptor antagonist. Zofran reduces the activity of the vagus nerve, which activates the vomiting center in the medulla oblongata, and also blocks serotonin receptors in the chemoreceptor trigger zone. It has little effect on vomiting caused by motion sickness, and does not have any effect on dopamine receptors or muscarinic receptors.

Hi there, Ondansetron is used for treating vomiting. Constipation, dizziness and headache are the most commonly reported side effects associated with its use. I just had my 7th cancer treatment Monday (but who is counting?) under general anesthesia so Ondansetron (Zofran) has been a constant companion. Whether ChemoEmbolization, Ethanol injection into a liver tumor, injecting a cylinder of gold into my tumor or my upcoming radiation cancer treatments, I count and will count on these meds to help me deal with the common side effects post surgery. Of course the IV version is preferable after surgery.

Ondansetron is the generic for Zofran. Why would you refuse it? It's safe to take or your Dr wouldn't prescribe it to you. There's other meds out there if you don't want to take it. My Dr gave me Diclegis. It helped take the edge off the nausea.

I just want to say it is like night and day since they gave me a script for some , started today, I was up all last night vomiting, do not suffer ask your doctor for some!!

And now I have a prescription for it. The side effects list is soo long. It says to talk to your doctor to see if the benefits out weigh the risks. Now I don't even want to take it. :( I'm not sure what to do. I have morning sickness but it's not always that bad.

I went to the er and got ondansetron (generic for zofran) but the doc prescribed it bc I literally kept nothing but one icee a day down. I got a script for 12 and thats it. All I know is they do not prescribe it to one indivodual in large quantities and that bc it can affect and stay in your blood for so long they have to monitor how much an individual gets.

Everyone is different. People may get very mild side effects or none at all. Others may get some more problematic side effects. Each day may be different. Some side effects come and go. I found that the longer I was on Incivek, the worse I felt. But, I was also on Interferon and Ribavirin. My problem was not getting a prescription anti-nausea med soon enough and also not getting prescription ointment for the rash soon enough.

I was unable to tolerate all anti Parkinsonian agents because they enduced psychosis as well as alpha blockers such as Clonidine because they enduced suicidal ideations. Has Zofran been regularly used as safe and effective for Zofran? What are the side effects? And also given I read it helped psychosis from Parkinson's could it help what is being studied as tardive psychosis.

Not a question,just wanted to share-Just read an article about Zofran (ondansetron) a 5-ht3 receptor antagonist used to treat nausea in chemo patients is being trialled here in the UK as a treatment for HCV related fatigue and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome-looks hopeful!

Lol uh yeah if that's the case then doctors should be out of business. Trust me when i say we looked up EVERY remedy out there for morning sickness and NONE of it helped. This prescription definitely worked for her and I'm only saying to talk to your doctor.

I was prescribed Ondansetron (generic Zofran) by the hospital for hyperemesis from 6 weeks until 17 weeks after being admitted multiple times due to dehydration and starvation. I still felt ill after stopping but I was able to cope with it better. I asked my consultant the same question and she said no medication can be described as safe in pregnancy as no pregnant women will submit their pregnant bodies to a medical study (understandably!).

Ive been taking ondansetron my whole pregnancy, it usually keeps it under control if I take it regularly otherwise ill be vomiting.

I am not happy with taking drugs while pregnant but I have lost a extrem amount of weight and it has been stressed to me medication and iv fluids are absolutely necessary. So have been taking Ondansetron (Zofran) and another prochlorperazine. I am very scared of what I have heard about these two drugs and my huge question is what medications do you pregnant women out there trust???

However,as you are having these symptoms only after bactrim,pls don’t worry as GI symptoms like nausea,vomiting and diarrhea are common side effects of this drug. You should take a healthy light diet like soups,salads,curd,rice etc and avoid fast foods,fried stuff and spicy foods for a while.Use citrus fruits which may mask the nausea and if the symptoms persist then pls take some antiemetic drugs like promethazine or ondansetron(Zofran).Also get your PAP smear repeated.
