i dont know maybe they are looking for something to blame for their babys problems which is understandable but i dont know why doctors would still be prescibing this to pregnant women if they think it can cause birth defects...birth defects happen sometimes for no reason so i dont know if id blame this drug as it could just be one of things too..
ironic that under your question the Zofran lawsuit ad is there... I personally wouldn't take it because of the birth defect thing. but five also only get nauseous & don't puke.
I been really sick my first couple of mouths and my doctor had offered me the zofran medicine which I been taking for a while..I read up on the medicine and I saw so many bad comment about it causing birth defects to the baby my doctor or no one didn't tell me about this..what should I do?
Yeah I was prescribed zofran but didn't take it! The nurses I work with said it can cause birth defects like cleft lip and stuff.. They've heard of it happening and I just didn't want to risk it.

However I looked at every study I could find and spoke to numerous doctors, each said that there is zero proof Zofran causes birth defects such as cleft palate. Cleft palate/spina bifida etc is usually caused by low levels of specific vitamins in diets and the reason it has been found in women who have taken zofran is more related to the effects of HG such as the constant vomiting and inability to keep food down. This goes hand in hand with the weight loss.
I seen that on TV that it's causing birth defects I HAVNT taken any CUZ I've never had morning sickness but I would deal with it n other ways b4 using that med if I had to. I'm sure we all want healthy babies and would deal with anything to make sure of that. Glad U stopped taken it!
Am I the only one who doesn't understand why doctor keep prescribing zofran and its on commercial saying it may cause birth defects in your baby. Sorry but I don't wanna stop throwing up that bad.
s already bad enough that they have those Zofran commercials about birth defects. Someone went as far as to call my cell phone on Friday about a Zofran lawsuit! I flipped my lid, how dare they call me for that how do they even know what medications have been prescribed to me?? All tests and scans show that my baby is healthy but they really upset me.
I have a perfectly healthy 20mo i Took zofran from week 4 till week 30.
Defects are noted of the recommended max dose has been breached.
No more than 32 mg in a 24 hour period.
There has been studies proving the benefits outweigh the negatives and lawsuits that have been debunked proving that it's safe and doesn't cause birth defects.
Zofran had a recall on it and cause birth affects to your baby. Please don't take it. You can also google zofran during pregnancy it's bad for you.
However I saw on the TV that zofran causes birth defects! So of course I did more research. Zofran is a class C drug. Meaning they don't really have proof either way [as to if it does or does not affect babies] it was originally made for people who get nausea while undergoing chemotherapy treatment.
So here's my question. Is it safe? I'm not saying my 2 miscarriages were because of Zorn but who knows!

I'm now 12w3d and I've been having really bad morning sickness to the point I have to go to the hospital 3times a week just for fluids and I've been taking the prescription zofran since I was 9 weeks. I recently saw that zofran is being sued for causing birth defects.. I've asked my doctor about it and she just says that there is no evidence yet.. I'm trading the pill form and getting thru iv.. I'm a ftm and I just don't know what to do right now.

I wouldn't go to the ER until you've been throwing up for 24 hours straight with a fever. And I'm pregnant as well and I took zofran at the beginning and my child is fine. I do recommend getting a second opinion because of the reviews that are going on but don't stress that you've been taking it.
So I've been seeing all this negative stuff about zofran causing all kinds of birth defects to unborn babies. I'm 30 weeks pregnant & I've been taking zofran my entire pregnancy, so it's worrying me. Has anyone else taken zofran? What are your opinions on it?
