Zofran route of administration

Common Questions and Answers about Zofran route of administration

zofran

Avatar n tn Its toxicity depends on the route of administration, duration, exposure and dosage. The route of administration is the most important determinant of toxicity. I hope this helps.
Avatar f tn I took two months of throwing up and struggling to keep water down as I didn't want to take zofran...The idea of it gave me huge anxiety, even though it hasn't been fully proved, the risk was too much for me to take, I lost 5 lb by the time I was 16 weeks...I'm now nearly 34 weeks and I'm up 40 odd lb, with a very healthy baby...its all about what risks you want to take, it's your choice..
Avatar f tn Keep something small your your stomach at all times. No need to get zofran unless you can't keep anything down. How far along are you.
Avatar f tn m overly susceptible to sedation side effects from most anti-nausea meds (as in becoming nearly unconscious), but 4mg of Zofran 1-2 times daily as needed worked incredibly well for me, with no sedation at all. In fact, I had no noticeable side effects at all from Zofran, but be aware that at least two forum members have reported severe headaches from Zofran. I wish that wasn't the case, as for me it was nothing short of a miracle. Good luck!
Avatar f tn She is tonite extrememly ill with nausea and headache . Zofran nor Emend bring relief. I take Zofran prn during chemo, along with the E the first 3 days and have not had much of a problem. Is there something else out there aside fro Compazine, Zofran, Emend that she may speak to Doc about? Thanks in advance.
Avatar m tn Would this route of administration work similar to faster acting benzodiazepines such as Xanax or Ativan, or does it depend solely on having a steady amount of Klonopin in your bloodstream already? I'm confused; why would a doctor prescribe Klonopin for anxiety attacks (i.e., take it as needed)?
Avatar f tn If you all will look at the HealthPages, I did one on other ovarian cancer sites. At the bottom is Side Effects Help and a link to mayo clinic that has all the info you all listed and so much more. Please take a look at it and let me know if you think it is inclusive enough for nausea. I found it very thourough. Somehow we need to get the regulars on here to look at the HealthPages more so you all can tell others what is on there.
Avatar f tn I went the drug route....second trimester is having worse morning sickness ever so far. I'm taking zofran.
2062505 tn?1331089288 In humans, urinary 5-HIAA (5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid) excretion increases after cisplatin administration in parallel with the onset of emesis. The released serotonin may stimulate the vagal afferents through the 5-HT3 receptors and initiate the vomiting reflex." Basically it blocks the release of chemicals that cause the nausea. The interferon is most like causing the nausea but the other drugs could be adding to it. http://www.drugs.com/pro/zofran.html http://www.drugs.com/zofran.
Avatar f tn Try ginger ale. I had HORRIBLE morning sickness and that was the only thihng that kind of eased it. Eat slower and more times a day but smaller meals. Don't drink as much while eating. Don't move too fast. Try crackers or toste. Preggy pops. Motion bands. Those are somethings I tryed. They didn't really work, but you would always try it. I had to get a prosciption medication and stop my prenatal vitamins. I take Zofran before I eat. It's such a life saver, honestly.
Avatar n tn Hello other mommies, I am 7 weeks and 4 days. I've had a lot of problems with morning sickness which I told my doctor about and was given zofran, didn't really work much and now I am out and have no sense of an appetite at all. I feel hungry all day but still can get myself to eat anything everything just turns my appetite off, anything that could help this?
11970398 tn?1443134602 I think that there are some medications that are on the edge (like zofran) and had many different opinions. I always choose the natural route during my pregnancy though and I've suffered with GERD or acid reflux my entire life!
Avatar f tn My all day sickness is kicking my ***! I called my Dr they would not phone in a prescription. Zofran from my sister had helped so much well kinda. I've been fighting morning sickness for about three weeks and only have had 4 zofran to help. I'm getting sick of being sick. I hope my Dr will prescribe me zofran on Monday and possibly something to help me sleep. I'm excited for my first obgyn appointment on Monday yay!! Let's hope we can get this puking under control tho!!!!
10909590 tn?1416437106 My doctor said when I'm out of zofran I can take unisom. I though it was weird because its a sleep aid but he said its very good for nausea and completely safe for the baby.
5045042 tn?1365890100 If you are having trouble with nausea and/or vomiting, that can be treated. Many of us took Zofran to prevent the nausea and vomiting. There are other drugs too, but Zofran works very well and won't make you sleepy. I took it 3 times a day (8 mg every 8 hours if I recall correctly). Just give your doctor a call. You need to eat and keep food down and there is no reason to suffer nausea and/or vomiting while on Tx. Hope you feel better soon.
Avatar f tn I so sick all day everyday not even my zofran works anymore:( 13 weeks no relief
1194973 tn?1385503904 Here's a list of foods/drinks that should be avoided, as well as foods that you can try to keep down. Remember to never start or stop anything without speaking to your doctor first though. Things to avoid would be some of the follow: Greasy, fat foods. Fried foods. Gravies/heavy foods. Try to eat small meals throughout the day. Avoid large amounts at one time. Take small breaks in-between eating and try to eat slowly.
Avatar f tn How many of you ladies are still taking zofran? My morning sickness is terrible. I'm 15 weeks and I throw up at least 5 times a day unless I take zofran and I've tried everything else and nothing works. But I know my doctor like personally and she assured me that it was safe and if it were her she would take it. I've lost about 30 pounds and only gained back 7 so she's worried about my weight. And I've lost it because of nausea. So how many Andre still taking it?
Avatar f tn There is no benefit to taking this sublingually that I know of. Generally the reason you take anything that way is to get it into your system as quickly as possible or because saliva is beneficial to absorption. With 5-HTP, it takes some time for your system to react to it assuming your body finds it necessary to have more coming in -- if it doesn't, it just evacuates it. The same thing is true when you take medication targeted at serotonin, though they work quit differently.
2147300 tn?1369689688 after taking the Zofran, all of those symptoms cleared up within days and I have not had any of them since. They were all part of the systemic reaction. I should have been on Zofran 2 months before I got it but my team just ignored side effects. Anyway, hope the Zofran works well for you.
Avatar f tn I am on Zofran for HG and have been since 8 weeks (now 17). I looked up lots of info regarding safe use and the large majority of women had healthy babies. Cleft palates are also formed in first 10 weeks and can be due to diet so many doctors consider it could largely be down to HG (poor diet because of constant vomiting/nausea) rather than zofran itself.
Avatar f tn Any reviews on zofran ? Im 20 weeks and ive been taking it once a day almost my whole pregnancy to help me keep down food. But now im hearing bad things about it. I havent had an ultra sound yet so im worried about it?
7753764 tn?1401853590 Oh im sry hun I was able to keep the others down after I got out of hospital adter having iv zofran. It may seem extreme but won't hurt to ask and you sound like a really severe case in fact I've never talked to someone who was worse than it than myself but im pretty sure you are worse than I was and I was really bad :-( ask you doctor about a pic line for iv zofran at home.
Avatar f tn Im in a group on facebook coz my baby has a heart condition and a lot of the women on there have ongoing lawsuits as they believe zofran has caused their babys to have heart defects..never took it myself and no heart problems in either side of our families and my baby still had this happen to her..docs says its just unfortunately one of those things that happen...a lot in the group though truly believe its zofran that caused their babys condition though..
Avatar f tn So I've been seeing all this negative stuff about zofran causing all kinds of birth defects to unborn babies. I'm 30 weeks pregnant & I've been taking zofran my entire pregnancy, so it's worrying me. Has anyone else taken zofran? What are your opinions on it?
