Zantac liquid for infants

Common Questions and Answers about Zantac liquid for infants

zantac

Avatar f tn I feel Gerd and milk allergy are grossly overdiagnosed in infants. Lactose overload has been diagnosed in breast-fed infants now - and I believe it is also found in babies.
Avatar n tn For many years, GER [Gastroesophageal reflux] during infancy and childhood was thought to be a consequence of absent or diminished LES tone [lower esophageal sphincter, which is sometimes also referred to as the Cardiac Sphincter due to its proximity to the heart]. However, studies have shown that baseline LES pressures are normal in pediatric patients, even in preterm infants.
11116547 tn?1415690651 my dr said I could use tums, maalox or if it was bad zantac once a day. it is all over the counter and not harmful to baby.
Avatar f tn My daughter is 3 months old and constantly spits up clear liquid. I'm not so sure what it is any more because my first one had acid reflux so I assumed my youngest did too. She's been on Zantec for a month now and she doesn't spit up any more milky substance but still constantly spits up clear liquid. She doesn't even really spit it up half of the time it just runs out but when it does that its a lot.
Avatar f tn I also use Gaviscon liquid, works well.
4270856 tn?1355798754 Its not uncommon for your sickness to return after it had went away, you can take tylenol for your headache and tums or zantac or a liquid antacid for your heartburn.
1088529 tn?1256844030 t give me a headache like omeprazole did, or seem to make me kind of dizzy/light headed like it seemed tagamet did. If you feel zantac is not enough for the acid problem, you can take tums or liquid anti-acid, but you need to space it apart- like wait at least a couple hours after taking your zantac to do it. Also, you should let your doctor know if the zantac is not sufficiently treating your symptoms.
Avatar n tn I really do hope this helps. BTW--the Moby Wrap is a blessing for children/infants up to (35lbs). You can sleep while they are comfortably attached to you. I gave in and bought one after too many sleepless nights and sore arms. It even helped to get some chores accomplished when my son wouldn't let me put him down. I still use it!
Avatar f tn I had preeclamsia at the end of my pregnancy, and was placed on a beta blocker (labelolol 200 mg bid). I also pumped, but after about 3 weeks, my supply died. Did the beta blocker have that effect on my milk or was it my diet? I also wondered if my taking prilosec had any effect on my son's acid reflux? Ok, so it was two questions. Any other advice about infant acid reflux are definitely appreciated!
Avatar f tn For heartburn i used the liquid off brand of maylocks at target and it worked great. I heard any of the liquid heartburn stuff works fine. For iching, it is probably dry skin which i had really bad. You need shea butter or coconut oil and rub on every morning and night. Hope that helps!
4250330 tn?1388621179 I had bad reflux and heartburn with both pregnancies. I took tums until they stopped working, then switched to Zantac per my ob. Zantac worked better than anything.
Avatar f tn I am on 5mg Reglan 2-3 times daily for gastroparesis. Also, Nexium 40mg and zantac 150 mg. Is there any concern of being on any of these drugs long term?
6763424 tn?1426255108 Tums and Zantac for sure. If I drink milk and try to fall asleep (I always get heartburn in the middle of the night or as soon as I lie down) I end up waking up choking on acid reflux. Also, mint flavored liquid Maalox works wonders and it's fast. The consistency can just be a little harder to stomach lol.
Avatar f tn I started taking Zantac for severe acid reflux at the beginning of my third trimester. It worked wonders and I highly recommend it. Zantac is considered to be the safest during pregnancy. My prescription was for 150mg twice a day, but I only took it once a day (around 4:30pm) just because I was paranoid about taking meds while pregnant. Tums was like chewing air, it did nothing for me either. Sorry you're experiencing the reflux too - it is miserable, but it DOES go away after delivery.
Avatar n tn Most capsules contain magnesium stearate as an inactive ingredient. However, the liquid forms (syrup) of Zantac, Axid and Pepcid do not contain magnesium.
Avatar f tn Liquid Antiacid like rolaids and also zantac pill form
Avatar n tn Zantac is the miracle worker for heartburn or acid reflux during pregnancy I used it with my first and even OBs recommend it so try that and if that doesn't work then talk to your doctor they can give you something for it
Avatar f tn Prevacid generally does not come in small enough dosages or under 15mg which is considered a high dose for infants under 6 months of age. 15mg is usually broken into several dosages throughout a 24 hour period so that the infant is not consuming a high amount at one time. *This was the information I was given from my Pediatric GI. I would seriously think about talking to your childs GI about this information if your child is on Prevacid.
Avatar f tn I'm ****** right off right now, heart burn 24/7, what's that all about!? I'm just living of milk, water and liquid gavascon and I'm just sick of it, it's like lava boiling in my throat, I can't eat anything without getting it and I just don't even want to eat because I know the outcome is just going to be heart burn...
Avatar f tn My doc prescribed me zantac.150mg every 12 hrs. Without it I would die! Ask for it and take it EVERY 12 hrs. I promise u will have no more issues. Believe me even gatorade gives me hb...
Avatar f tn I am way too young to have this problem. I have had acid reflux for years now and i have been taking meds for it. My doctor told me I need to try to ween myself off of the medicine (zegerid, because nexium and a million other meds dont woork). I tried doing that and I still keep getting heartburn no matter what. I have gotten the endoscopy several times and the doctors just say that the bottom of my esophagus is not tight, which gives me G.E.R.D. I can't deal with this anymore.
