Common Questions and Answers about Yaz for pms

yaz

Avatar n tn I am on my second week of Yaz-put on it for really bad PMS and extremely heavy periods. (When my period came back after having my daughter and nursing her for a year, my PMS symptoms got progressively worse each month.) Now, on YAZ, I am having mood swings from extreme calm to extreme anxiety (close to full blown panic attack) and back again. I am easily irritated and have had heart palpatations since the second day on this medicine.
405998 tn?1222396217 I don't know about using Yaz to shrink cysts, but I was on Yaz for years until I eventually had breakthrough bleeding and had to stop. Yaz was the only birth control pills that didn't make me feel crazy from mood swings or depression. I see those lawyer ads on TV also, but I really liked Yaz.
Avatar n tn I had been having unprotected sex from July until October. I just started taking Yaz birthcontrol in the beginning of Novermber. I had a regular period on Dec 3rd. My period seemed to go away by wednesday the 10th, but now on Dec. 16th, i still have what seems to be a brownish colored supstance coming out. I know its not my period because i am not bloaded, and i dont have cramps or have pms. what could this be?????
519035 tn?1348275773 Okay so here's this one for you. I know many of us are hypo's which can cause severe pms. How many of you can feel the fluctuation each time. How many of you have been successful at this time for your blood work. What birth control pills if any are you guys taking???? I am on yaz. but so far not helped with pms. I started pms'ing about three days ago blaming it on synthroid lol!
Avatar f tn The doctor believes endometriosis is causing the pain on my right side and back. She put me back on Yaz (birth control). I was on Yaz for several years to control the severe PMS symptoms I was having. I got off PMS last summer when I turned 50 because I wanted to get an accurate reading of my hormone levels which are normal. It seems like once I got of Yaz I started having these problems--complex cyst, pain, etc.
Avatar f tn I was on YAZ (had no issues with it, nor was I using for PMDD) for about 6-7 months both for BC and to regulate my period. I have been very irregular since I had my very first period at 13. Then this December was my last pack because I was unable to afford it. January through April my periods were still coming regularly even though I was no longer using the pill (my last period starting on 4/1). Now its May and I am 3 days late so far.
Avatar f tn im also sore around my vagina and its uncomfortable to wear tampons ?? i am taking yaz birth control. and my pms was super uncontrolable...moods i couldnt manage, cramps that sucked more than my normal pms for sure.
Avatar n tn m 23, and this is the first birth control I have ever tried. Mostly for leveling my PMS/PMDD. I am contemplating not starting another pack of YAZ this weekend-- as I believe the pill is causing me to become aggressive, angry, depressed, and otherwise flat affected in comparison to who I typically am. I have taken the pill for 7 months--when I first began, I noticed many mood swings, temper bouts, and then, it magically leveled out (as suspected) as I got used to the pill.
Avatar n tn after all it is not her falt, tell her to talk with her doctor about YAZ it is good and worked good for me and my moods,
Avatar f tn I have been with my boyfriend ever since I was 14, I started my sexual life with him at age 16. I am almost 18 now. I have been through a lot recently, losing some family members to cancer. I've had this extreme baby fever and the will to start a family on my own.
Avatar f tn Any birth control pill, well any birth control that has hormones in it can cause blood clots. But they are normally only risk for those who have a family history of clots, or who have suffered from clots before. I've never been on Yaz and the only birth control pills I have ever taken was/is Yasmin. No they are not the same. Yasmin or Ocella is a lower dose of birth conrtol, while Yaz is prescribed more often to those who suffer from PMDD (Premenstrual dysphoric disorder).
397977 tn?1201264847 I had been on Orthonovum for 20 plus years. The YAZ helped the PMS symptoms I was having really well but I would get terrible headaches at the beginning or end of my cycle. I have tried a number of migraine medicines over the years and found relief with Maxault, Relpax and even Excedrin Migraine however, the last 3-4 months, those drugs don't seem to help anymore. I got my tubes tied in December 2007 but continued taking the Yaz until Jan 18th 2008.
Avatar f tn I too have been taking Yaz for 5 cycles now and I have experienced the same bloating you are talking about. I am a very athletic person and I run almost 70 miles a week. Before Yaz I was skinny 5'3 110lbs and I didn't have much of a tummy at all.I am still the same weight but now I look almost pregnant, and i am positive i am not, but my stomach sticks out so much from bloating and it is making me miserable as well. I just want it to go away.
Avatar f tn Hello. I was on Yaz for about 5 months and in mid march (2 months ago) i decided to go off of it because of the crazy side effects! i got my first non pill period somewhat on time and now im waiting for my second period but it is almost a week late. i highly doubt im pregnant because i always use condoms with my bf. I am kinda worried anyways though but i just wanted to know if it was normal or not?
Avatar n tn take blood test to confirm that will be most accurate, do you think its PMS symptoms bcoz pregnancy and PMS symptoms are very similar.
Avatar n tn m new to the community, see you posted last month. I was on Yasmin, I think its related to Yaz but not the same for about two years. I had some really odd symptoms with Yasmin and begged my dr to take me off of it, since then I was on Apri, which is just generic desogen.
Avatar f tn If i come off it I think I will go mental (as i have tried before) I have heard alot of bad things about YAZ and I was also told that BCP are not responsible for weight gain. If you are gaining weight I would ask for another Ultrasound to see if you have any cysts. I totally understand how you feel. I was always around 120-130 but since this endo business I seem to fluctuate between 140-155. I cant stand it and I have lots and lots of cellulite. It is so depressing I do agree with you.
Avatar f tn My problem is that the day I start the placebos, my hormones go into overdrive and I have severe PMS. It was bad before for the 2 weeks before but now it feels like all of the same feelings, pain, etc. have crammed themselves into the 4 days between my first placebo and when I start my period. I am constantly anxious, on edge, and always feel like screaming, crying, and hitting something. It has made work very difficult.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone, I have been on Yaz for over a year and I stopped around 6/13/08. My husband and I have had unprotected sex and for the past 2 weeks I have had tender/swollen breast, went up almost a cup size, very bloated, unexpected nausea that comes and goes. Since Friday I have had very light cramping and pelvic pressure that comes and goes, when I move around they subside. This might sound gross but around 6/25 or so when I woke up I was very wet.
Avatar f tn s when he said he was going to remove it but I had all the signs of endo, not complications from that. He put me on Yaz and I was regular for about 2 months. Since then, my symptoms have returned only worse. I finally went back today and they still strongly suspect it. I am waiting out a surgery to see if any hormone therapy will do the trick because I have to pay out of pocket. The doctor wants me to try loestrin 24 for 3 months. My question is, does anyone have experience with both?
Avatar n tn Second-- Yaz. Started taking it right after ortho-novum, worked great for first few months. Everything felt fine, until I began developing daily headaches and later had such depressing mood swings, I didn't know who I was. I was described as "a new person." Made things I love in life very miserable, and stopped taking it altogether at the end of March.
Avatar n tn It can reflect any thyroid medicine you are on. I am taking yaz, so far no problems for me. It does interact with whatever medicine you are on. So just keep trying a lower dose one until you find the right one.
Avatar f tn I would definatly consult your family physician or your OBGYN about a suitable birth control for you. I took Yaz a few months ago for a short period of time(just a week and a half) and it messed with my emotions and feeling like crazy. I strongly suggest you don't use Yaz. I still don't feel like myself even though I am off the pill. If you like being happy, don't use Yaz, please, its not worth it. I have not heard many good things about Yaz since I have taken it.
Avatar n tn I agree with stella5349 regarding the use of birth control pills. Birth control pills are powerful drugs. Do a web search using he terms "Yaz and lawsuits" - scary! Same for Fosamax and other so-called bone-building drugs Boniva, Actonel etc...once used for agricultural purposes and now in human bodies. Doctors will often say that side the effects you experience after starting a drug are not related to the drug. MIne did.
