Avatar m tn I am in the same boat as you both. I am on my third week of the Yaz pills and this is the worst I have ever broken out in my life. I'm 18 years old and I have tried EVERYTHING and the only thing that I haven't tried is Accutane. I'm wearing hats to my college classes all the time to cover my face because make-up can only do so much to cover the big, red cystic acne all over my forehead and chin. I am so upset over my face and I just don't know what to do anymore.
Avatar f tn I am looking for help in regards to my 13 year old daughter. She has severe cystic acne for the past 7 months. The cystic acne was just beginning late last year in 2013. The oral antibiotics were of no further help so we started Accutane in Dec 2013. She had the terrible initial flare but it has not stopped!! She started out on Accutane 30mg twice a day and then bumped up to 40mg twice a day. Then dropped to 40mg once a day. She weighs about 155lbs.
Avatar n tn Hi, I have struggled with cystic and chronic acne for over a decade, I'm 24 y/o female. I am beginning my 4th year of using Nexplanon birth control, I had a new one put in Feb 2021. I was prescribed Estradiol to help with excessive bleeding for my periods and when I took it for 10 straight days my face cleared up almost 100% for the first time in 10 years. I was over the moon happy until my gyno said I could not be on Estradiol long term and she would not prescribe me anymore.
727136 tn?1231182664 I am 5 years post total hysterectomy - abdominal due to adhesions/cysts/endo, etc. You name it, I had it. My left ovary was enlarged to size of grapefruit, wrapped around my ureter and the artery nearby, then that was all plastered to my left pelvic side wall. I opted for total hys due to endo, etc. I have 1 happy, healthy boy - he's almost 10! Anyway, the Dr.
Avatar f tn I have been taking Yaz for about 4 months now. I am almost ready to go to the doctor for my depression and anxiety. Then, I started researching my pill (Yaz) and have found that these symptoms are likely related to this pill. I want to stop taking it and my husband is in support of that. However, I have read about terrible side effects from people that stopped, too. Anyone have experiences to share?
Avatar f tn A common treatment for cystic acne is Isotretinoin, which cures most acne in about 90% of patients. In sever cases a course of oral antibiotics are also recommended. After cysts have mostly healed, macules, or "pseudo scars" may form. Macules are red patches of skin, sometimes raised slightly, where cysts used to be, and may resemble cysts in their appearance.
Avatar f tn Hi, I've been taking Yaz for about two months now, but recently I forgot to take it a few days ago. My friend told me that if I miss a day I can just take two the next day. I did and later on I noticed I was spotting. I did read that it is very common for something like that to happen but for me it seemed like i was having my period. I wanted it to stop so I decided I was going to stop taking it.
Avatar f tn Anyone else have cystic acne? Im a little over 8 weeks and ftm. Im 35 yo and always had acne in the past. Not fun and hoping it doesn't get worse.

Avatar f tn Thanks, yea I am going to make an appointment w/ my doctor to see what I should do and maybe see if I should get back on the pill...you said you continued getting acne for 4 months after getting of the pill? Ugh...that's a long time...right now I would say this is my 1st month since I barely started breaking out really bad about 3 weeks ago but now my acne has basically spread ALL over my face except on my chin and my nose.
Avatar f tn Spironolactone. Girls can take it, not boys. That is the key to cystic acne for girls. All hormonal based. I'm 49 and have had them since 17 years old. Still get them, but only once a year. Taking Solodyn 105 mg. with it, too. That's a high dose, but necessary (weigh 135lbs). Spironolactone comes in 25mg pills. One pill a day is not enough! That won't fix anything. I take 100 mg a day to maintain. 50 mg in the morning and 50mg at night.
Avatar f tn Does anyone get small cystic pimples all over body? What causes it and is there anything I can do about it?
Avatar n tn m on my period it increased it by 3 days, with horrible cramping. Yaz was the strangest for me though. My hormones were very much out of wack, and had absolutely no sex drive whatsoever! I would not recommend it. I have had several friends (4) try Yaz as well and had many problems. Hopefully you have called a doctor about your rash though. I've not heard of anyone breaking out in rashes.
Avatar f tn I'm 19 and have been taking birth control pills (a generic version of Yaz) for several years for acne. It's worked well, and I rarely get breakouts. However, I recently became sexually active and it's sometimes a pain remembering to take them at the same time daily. I've been looking into more longtemr birth control solutions.
Avatar m tn sounds like cystic acne to me. Cystic acne doesn;t usually have a 'head' that you can pop. Try applying benzoyl peroxide preparation on it to dry it out.
Avatar f tn Hmm... did the doctor say it's acne as well? it sounded to me like cystic acne till you mentioned they seem to fluctuate in size. As far as I know, cystic acne don;t fluctuate in size. Can you ask your doctor to name them exactly? did u not go for a follow up where he records any improvement, etc.?usually cystic acne are dark and round and can appear anywhere, esp face, arms, shoulders, chest etc. the contraceptive pills should have taken care of them though.
Avatar f tn I don't believe they are typically related, however, alcoholism can severely throw your system out of alignment (as can withdrawal for a little while) - diet, sleep patterns, social activities - EVERYTHING is going through a change so, I'd try to consider what is causing the acne? Hormonal changes, oily skin, change of season, new skin lotions/creams, etc... and work in reverse order.
Avatar n tn I have an acne cyst on my cheek that has been there for about 2 weeks and its driving me insane...its impossible to cover up with makeup, it hurts, it won't come to a head, and its disfiguring my face! I've had a couple cysts in the past but they've all eventually came to a head. I just want this to go away. Does anyone know any techniques about how to get a cyst to go away or come to a head?
Avatar f tn 5hrs) and then the next day my face broke out in horrible cystic acne (50 pimples) for the next 2 weeks. During that time I also started working out hard again about 2 weeks prior and consuming more food. I stopped working out and after the acne cleared up my face went back to normal 1-2 a week. I took a break and started back up again this January 2017 and low and behold my face broke out again ~20 zits in less than a week.
Avatar m tn helo..
Avatar m tn Hello, It can be due to cystic acne. Cystic acne is the most severe form of acne. Cystic acne affects deeper skin tissue than the more superficial inflammation from common acne. Since they are severe, so systemic medications are usually required. The treatment consists of topical and oral antibiotics, tretinoin, oral contraceptives in females and Intralesional corticosteroid injections. Very severe cases may need excision and drainage.
Avatar f tn I've never been on Yaz, but was on Ortho Cyclen for 5 years and eventually had to have my gallbladder out because it was full of stones. My twin sister is just now having symptoms of gallbladder disease, but she hasn't been on the pill as long as I was. I'm still on it and wondering if it could cause other problems even after the gallbladder is gone.
