I have heard about Yaz and Yasmin causing more of a risk for blood clots in women....BUT (yes there is a but) almost all birth control pills can cause blood clots especialy if you have had them before, or have had a family history of them. If your nurse wants you to switch to a genric then you can still take Yasmin (but it would be Ocella). It's the same thing.

Two important things to know about spironolactone are that it is a diuretic (water pill) and so you will urinate a lot, AND it can cause birth defects if taken during pregnancy--so you definitely want to continue with your pills too, By the way, PCOS sure seems to be hereditary--so keep an eye on your kids--and congratulations on having such a nice healthy family! I was on Yaz for about 5 months and in mid march (2 months ago) i decided to go off of it because of the crazy side effects! i got my first non pill period somewhat on time and now im waiting for my second period but it is almost a week late. i highly doubt im pregnant because i always use condoms with my bf. I am kinda worried anyways though but i just wanted to know if it was normal or not?

Hi, YAZ birth control pill causes cholelithiasis. According to studies done, YAZ birth control pill increases the risk of gallbladder disease only marginally. But if you are symptomatic, like if you have pain in the upper right quadrant or if you develop nausea or jaundice, discuss your symptoms with your consulting doctor he may change the dose or the medications. Will effexor and spironolactone (aldactone) have adverse effects if taken together?

Since I had been taking the Yaz for almost two months straight (I skipped my period by not taking the placebo pills) do you think this changes the possibility of me being unprotected?

( Diffused pattern,especially on top and sides of my head) I had also low Ferritin levels and took some Iron.I was fine for 3 yers and just recently started loosing hair again. My ferritin is at 30(little low) so I started taking Iron again and it seamed the hair loss slowed down a little since. In a mid time my GP run a bunch of tests which showed very high ANA's 1:640 and referred me to Rheumatologist for further eval.

She has also been put on YAZ birth control (androgen blocking) and Spironolactone 100mg every day. Nothing is helping. The prednisone significantly helps at 30mg but the acne comes back even worse than before when she tapers to lower doses. I do not want her on long term Prednisone use due to the terrible effects of such a drug. She has had a full workup with pediatric endocrinologist who has ruled out any tumors or abnormal hormone levels.

Hi dear doctor, After 1 year on having half a pill of Levotiroxine every morning, and half a pill of Spironolactone every night+2nights a week 1 complete pill, My test result is: T4=7.6 and TSH=4.4. My doctor stopped Spironolactone, since I don't have ance anymore. but after 2 years of having it, I have hair loss. My doctor said it is not related. Isn't it related ? He is on daily aspirin, a beta blocker (carvedilol), a statin (pravastatin), ACE inhibitor (ramipril) and spironolactone. I have heard that sprinolocatone particularly could affect fertility but am struggling to find any clear research or guidelines about this. I think he is on quite a low dose of the spironolactone. I know the easiest thing would be to get a sperm count done but we dont feel quite ready to do this.

i have two ovarian cysts one 3cm and the other slightly smaller, i was already on mirena an iud and now put on yaz to for birth control to shrink the cysts but now my breast are swelling really bad, what should i look out for as for complications, is this safe?

m thinking these tests were useless due to the Yaz and that she needed the free levels checked but does the TSH look high? We have stopped the Yaz and will retest in a month or two. Thanks.

I am a 49 year old female in perimenopause. I have a history of migraines since starting my menses at age 13 years old. Been in perimenopause for the last 4 years. Four years ago began having panic attacks-one occurred during visit with GYN. I was place on low dose niravan for anxiety.

I am overweight,hirsutism,menstrual irregularies,depression.As prescribed I am taking Spironolactone Tablest and Metformin.I am scared of huge side effects of Spironolactone(being systemic drug).Kindly put your experience of using Spironolactone? . How should I adjust dosage and manage side effects.For how many years will I used it.

I wondering if anyone knows when your on the Yaz birth control pill if you can skip your period for the month? I was on Ortho tri- lo another pill and I was able to but I am now on Yaz. Please let me know if you have done this or KNOW for sure!

m unhappy with this so my OBGYN switched me to Zovia, which I do not like. My question is, could YAz and Topamax at 50-100mg, be taken together?

October 15 - Started YAZ, also my first day of period (4 days light period only) November 10 - Period came November 11 - Last day of YAZ (first pack) November 12 - First pill of second pack of YAZ very heavy bleeding November 13 VERY HEAVY BLEEDING November 14, 15, 16, 17, 18 Regular bleeding Nov19- 27 light bleeding Nov 28 bleeding gone I went to my OB November 24 and advised me to take my remaining YAZ 3x a day.
