t have the random hair growth. I have been to a gynecologist and all he wants to do is put me on the pill, which I explained makes me miserable in a way that these irregular periods alone cannot. He refuses to test for a hormonal imbalance, saying that it's impossible to measure since women's hormones fluctuate so much throughout their cycle. I went for a pelvic ultrasound a week or so ago and still have yet to get the results. My PAP was normal.
t drink or smoke, is not over weight and rarely drinks a soda. She has been complaining of being dizzy and has lost a ton of hair. My mother has hashimotos hypothyroid.
Does this sound thyroid related? I'm thinking these tests were useless due to the Yaz and that she needed the free levels checked but does the TSH look high? We have stopped the Yaz and will retest in a month or two.

Hey guys! It's Danielle and I stopped taking Yaz about two months ago, and I feel fantastic. The weight is going away slowly but surely, and my periods, although slightly irregular, have been better. I'm a bit more moody than before, Yaz always made me feel PMS when I shouldn't have though. Getting off the Yaz was the best thing I could have done!
Within 2 weeks, I had energy and less hair growth! The first 2 months I had perfect 28 day cycles that were non-painful and light. My 3rd cycle never came and I recently found out that I'm pregnant. I'm scared of course because of the high miscarriage rates in women with PCOS but I'm optimistic. You should really talk to your doctor and convince him/her to do something besides the BCP's. Don't give up!
m back on it, I have not noticed any reduction in the hair growth on my neck and chin and abdomen, in fact, I think the hair growth on my abdomen is getting worse! It used to just go up to my navel, now it's growing in a line above it almost to my chest. I also have noticed a few long dark hairs on my breasts. Is there anything else I can do other than shaving/waxing? Should the metformin and BC pills stop this?
Hey all! I'm still alive, through the grace of God! I am on week three of Yaz and things have gotten better! I have back pain and some fatigue, but overall, I'm well! I know how to calm my anxiousness and I feel like my old self again! To God be the glory for the things He has done!
I did not eat for over a month, just drank ensure and lost 30 lbs. I went to the doc and was treated for Anxiety/Depression with Zoloft and recently have been put on YAZ. I have very bad night sweats (wake up damp), no hot flashes, hair loss, dry skin, anxiety which gets worse before period, dry hair, itchy skin, temp has been running at 97, headaches were bad until I started taking YAZ, allergies which I have never had, etc. Anyone thinking this sounds like peri-menopause?
I have been on Yaz for over a year and haven't had a period and hope to not have another one! :) It is very healthy not to have a period due to contraceptives such as these. I was on the Depo shot for 16 years and never had a period during that entire time! I had to stop that because it was causing a little bone-loss, however, with many calcium supplements that is now back to normal. I am a super healthy 35 year old. I have a child.
I was fine for 3 yers and just recently started loosing hair again. My ferritin is at 30(little low) so I started taking Iron again and it seamed the hair loss slowed down a little since. In a mid time my GP run a bunch of tests which showed very high ANA's 1:640 and referred me to Rheumatologist for further eval.( All other test like Liver Functions, Urea, Rheumatoid factors, blood counts, white ,red cells and platelets are normal) I have to wait till March to see him.

I take my vitamins everyday and my hair doesn't grow its dry and awhful actually. And I don't even colour my hair. It's been over a year since I've coloured it. I too am bummed about this because I was looking forward to my hair finally growing. I chopped it all off a while ago.
I also switched birth control brands at this time so had blood tests done to see what was going on but they said all came back fine and it was probably stress. I started on Rogaine and after about 6 months, the hair loss stopped and all seemed fine though I did have chest pains, went to a cardiologist, had a CAT scan and he said it was just stress. Wow. Then, my husband and I moved to France. Again, hair loss. I started back on the Rogaine and just waited it out.
I lost a probably about 45% but luckily it thinned all over. the only part I had to hide was a receding hair line in the front (Like my dad has) So I didn't put my hair up and just combed long hair over for a while.
I have been done with treatment for a couple months now..and my hair, (while still thinned out) is a completely different texture then it was on treatment. I noticed within a few weeks after tx the shine was back and it did not look so dead anymore.
