Well my gyn nurse practitioner called and I guess there is new evidence out that Yasmin is causing causes more blood clots than other BCPs, and this is a risk that increases as you get older. She’d like me to switch BCP. Which is not as straightforward as she thinks. I’m not sure if Kaiser is yanking my chain and just wanting me to take a generic BCP, the only thing I can find is a study published recently in the British Medical Journal.

I've heard from more than one source that the bc pill Yaz also sold as
Yasmin, same stuff, is dangerous. If Yaz is causing you to be depressed,
with panic attacks and anxiety, I would suggest getting of Yaz altogether,
with the help of your family doctor. Wouldn't even finish the end of the
package of Yaz. I've heard it can cause blood clots. Seeing as you had
unprotected sex with your boyfriend, this would be a good time for a
doctor's visit. Good luck.
Yes yaz is awful, I feel lucky I didn't have any of the really serious side effects like blood clots and gall bladder issues. I'm still recovering from being on it though. I'm staying off of birth control pills for now but if/when I go back on the pill it will be low dose.

Its a brown discharge like color sometimes with little red blood and very small clots. I have tiny cramps sometimes. Is this normal? Why is this happening? Sometimes its heavy and I need a pad, and sometimes I just need a panty liner. This is really starting to weird me out and it getting annoying. I have read some other posts like mine and I really just need reassurance.. Can anyone PLEASE PLEASE help me?
) However the commercials about the side effects of yasmin and yaz have got me freaked out, and simultaneously I have been (the past three weeks) feeling a strange tingling in my wrists and fingers, slight pain in my arm (above my wrist) and have been getting random split second headaches that feel horrible. Hey guys! It's Danielle and I stopped taking Yaz about two months ago, and I feel fantastic. The weight is going away slowly but surely, and my periods, although slightly irregular, have been better. I'm a bit more moody than before, Yaz always made me feel PMS when I shouldn't have though. Getting off the Yaz was the best thing I could have done!
After the 5th day, I started having cramps and passing clots, which I hadnt done in awhile. I called the doc and they told me to take a pregnancy test. If it was positive to go in, if it was negative to triple my pills for the next 3 days, double sat & sun an regular on monday! Im worried and dont understand why or whats happening and Im nervous to take so many pills. It stopped for one day but its starting again.

She lays in bed for four days now and she says she gets blood clots that drop from her area as if she is having a period and she says she is.. She says its cramps but describes them with great deal of pain noone could dare resist or imagine... So she has been taking pain pills nonstop but thinks doctors would not be able to help her with this problem? Is this true? What can I do and what is the first step for me to take? How can you gain weight if you have lost your appetite? I know that everytime I have lost my appetite I have lost a tremendous amount of weight. In the book that comes with Yaz it says that spotting may occur. Some of these pills work for some and some don't work for others. I have used Yaz and like it the best and my friend used it and it made her sick. It's too bad they didn't have a way to plug in your information and out pops an answer of what pill you should use.
t go on any other kind of birth control because I have a blood disorder and I am not supposed to be on hormones (it greatly increases my risk of blood clots). My doctor told me that Marina was my best option right now. Is anyone else on the Marina? Do you have a history of depression with other birth controls? And if so, is the Marina working any better for you?
Since I had been taking the Yaz for almost two months straight (I skipped my period by not taking the placebo pills) do you think this changes the possibility of me being unprotected?

My 16yo dd, recently had some blood work. TSH 3.2 (.45-4.5), T4 12.7 (4.5-12) and T3 uptake 17 (23-35). Incidentally she has been on Yaz for 4 years for excess androgens. Recently, her cholesterol(280) and triglycerides(244) have gone thru he roof. She doesn't drink or smoke, is not over weight and rarely drinks a soda. She has been complaining of being dizzy and has lost a ton of hair. My mother has hashimotos hypothyroid.
Does this sound thyroid related?
During that time of the month my cramps have gotten so horriable that I get anal spazims (sp?), quarter like size clots, and heavy bleeding. I just thought it was normal.
I went to my regular doctors appointment and complained about my pain. He refered me to a Gyno. Which then they requested for me to have blood work done and an ultrasound of my pelvis. The findings were:
1) Mild uterine enlargement
2) Cervical Nabothian cyst.
TSH was high twice (6.8 and 7.0) while she was on the YAZ. After stopping YAZ for 2 weeks, TSH dropped to 2.8. But while she was in the ER for severe respiratory problems her TSH was 7.2. Can stress/illness as well as estrogen (YAZ) cause TSH to be elevated? Because now they are saying all is normal, there is no thyroid problem. And she still has all these horrible symptoms, fatigure being the worst, then nausea, then head tightness/pressure. Thanks.
From what you have written, it doesn’t sound like you have either of these conditions. Blood clots take time to development large enough to cause symptoms like several weeks not days. And they also do not resolve immediately after discontinuing the hormone containing birth control. I agree with your Gynecologist that non-blood clot related leg cramps/chest pain is not a common side effect of birth control pills.
