I am a healthy 45 yr old woman who started taking Yasmin on November 26, 2008. My last period was around the 12 of November. I started taking the Yasmin immediately because I wanted to try to hold off the horrible PMS I've been having for the past 6 months or so. I realize I should've waited for my next period, but I'm a single parent and I'm not very nice to my 10 yr old son when pms hits. My question is, when will the contraceptive actually be effective?

You take all 28 Yasmin pills (the whole pack) and than you take a break of 8 days without Yasmin. In that 8 days you should get your period. On the 8th day you start the new pack of Yasmin. And every time the same. That's the process. When you want to end taking them for good you just stop taking them or consult a doctor if they are prescribed like some kind of therapy.

If you've started ovulating you definitely should be using a backup form of contraception for now. What are the instructions in your pill pack for if you miss a pill? The ones I've taken say you can just take two the next day and it will be okay if it only happens once. But I don't know if that's true for every pill.
I've been taking Yasmin 28 for nearly two years. As far as waiting for your period, it's supposed to happen during that week you are not taking pills (Yasmin 28 has placebos that I take during that week so I don't forget to start a new pack). I'm also waiting for my period, but it's almost two weeks late and all the tests I've taken are coming back negative.
Im on Yasmin for a year now....and for the past 2 months or so I dont take the last 2 active pills. Is that ok? Am I still protected? I do that because I dont like to go to work when I have my period, so by skipping the last 2 pills I start getting a brown discharge on Friday instead of Sunday, and then I have my 2 heavy days of bleeding on saturday and sunday and by monday its light. I'm just wondering if its ok to do that?

I will drink my first inactive pill tonight, BUT today I had unprotected sex. What should I do? I just bought Norlevo emergency contraception (single intake 2 tablets). But if I take it, I won't be able to see if my period does come.
i have been on the pill yasmin for 6 months now and this is my first time bein late for 12 hrs. I usually take it 7pm but i took the last pill of my pack at 7am the next day of my schedule. I havent had any intercourse for the past week nor will i be planning to the week after that. I am not as concerned regarding my protection but wanted to ask about the action regarding what i should do with my next pack. I've read that i should skip my break week and start the new pack right away.
Yasmin (at least the only one I've ever heard of) is a birth control pill. It's not going to abort. If you've already ovulated, there is nothing that's going to stop it. Wait until your period is due and if it's late, take a pregnancy test. If it comes as usual, start using condoms and birth control.
I actually want to get the 28 day Pill Pack, but where I live, they only sell “Yaz” and “Yasmin” ( 28 day pill pack)and I only heard bad things about those two pills, so my only option is to get the 21 day pill pack. If I start taking it, I have to take it everyday at the same time for 21 days and then have a 7 day break. What if I get my period during the 7 day break and it stops before the 7 day break finishes.

hello, Im orni 28 years old. After trying to have a baby for 10 months without results i went to a gynecologist. After the ecography he explaind me that my left ovary is filled with menstrual blood, because of endometriosis. He gave me Yasmin for one month, and than we tried again for other 2 months and still nothing. My husband's spermiogram resulted ok. Now my question is: Are This 12 months of infertily normal, because my right ovary seems normal.
I have heard so many bad things about Yasmin. I have also heard of the pill causing those symptoms as well so I am wondering if its just the pill itself. I take Marvelon21 and have since my surgery 4yrs ago. I am wondering if its the ingredients in the yasmin that could be doing it besides the progestin and estrogen? Where you taking it continuously with the yasmin 21 or the 28 day?

So I hear (and I have also read) that yasmin is AWESOME for women with PCOS.. Any comments? I am about to switch from alesse to yasmin but I am nervous because there have been many birth control pills that give me uncontrollable mood swings, anxiety and depression. Alesse has been okay for me, not the best, but ok. Does anyone else experience this when they take birth control pills? I think that it is related very closely to PCOS.

I've bin taking Yasmin for over a year and planning to fall pregnant early next year ( before March), How soon can I stop taking them?
I would say to try the pill out for a few months, like 3 UNLESS your symptoms get worse. The body needs time to adjust to any bcp and 3 months is the normal. I'm on Yasmin too and never had any problems with it. Yasmin is one of the top bcp that is given to woman with pcos because most woman can tolerate it better then other bcp. The only thing I've found while taking Yasmin (and I think this goes for ALL bcp) it raises my blood pressure a little.
i took yasmin for nearly one year then stopped(my periods were regular while taking yasmin), got pregnant after 2months of stopping yasmin, but unfortunately it was ectopic and so i lost it. i would advice you to be careful once you stop yasmin.
Also i was taking caltrate(vitaminD+calcium) tablets once a day.
I too am on Yasmin, but never had any problems while taking them. I was told that Yasmin bc is the best choice given to those with acne problems and pcos. It's a mild dose of bc. Try to give yourself 3 months to regulate it in your body. Consult your doctor if you have serious side affects. Are you taking any other meds for your pcos? I'm also on Metformin for weight issues. I started my journey in September 2008 at 333lbs and I am now at 272lbs.
