It worked great for the first 2 weeks and i was over joyed to have my life back! But the past few days, some hives have started to come back. I have been taking benadryl along with the xyzal as needed.
Avatar n tn Hello, Since you are getting these hives since july, so the possibility of chronic urticaria is high in your case. It is defined as urticaria that persists for longer than 6 weeks. In most of the cases of chronic urticaria, the underlying pathology is idiopathic i.e. it is not linked to any cause. It is essential to rule out the presence of serious illnesses of which recurring hives can be a symptom.
Avatar f tn eventually i started bi-weekly sessions of acupuncture which really really helped and finally i was off the medication. i still take a daily xyzal otherwise the hives come back not the anaphylaxis though. it took another 2 years to lose the steroid bloat. the steroids muck up your system totally. still can't take most dairy products. most of my teeth fillings fell out and other healthy teeth started crumbling. my bones were brittle.
Avatar f tn I have been dealing with hives since 2000. All i have to do is be in the sun and i break out. I have tried Zyrtec, Allegra, Singular and now i'm on Xyzal. The Xyzal i only tried one time and woke up the next morning feeling like i was drunk and hit by a train. It left a horrible taste in my mouth. I am so sick of these hives. I'm getting married in August and have a terrible farmers tan and i am asking for any advice on what to do.
Avatar n tn I've had chronic hives for two years now. I was told that they are idiopathic and that it can last from 5-10 years. Yes, you read that right. That. Long. It *****. I also have chronic fatigue syndrome so I can't take any meds that make me drowsy so just been taking Zyrtec. I had every test done to rule out things. They sent tests to the mayo clinic and I saw rheumatologists, infectious disease, cardiologist, neurologist, gynecologist,, allergist....pretty much every doctor.
Avatar f tn Another Dermatologist had given zentel, Ivermectol for only one dose. and xyzal daily. Now She is not getting hives than previous days. will she get rid of hives completely?
Avatar n tn I have been suffering with chronic hives for over a year. I have noticed lately severe liver pain? What did you find out? What help/advice can you give me?
Avatar n tn Hello! For the past 4 months or so I have been getting hives on the sides of my neck. It happens almost every day or every other day. I have not changed shampoo, lotion, deodorant, laundry detergent, or anything else of that nature. I've never had allergies to mold, pollen, or any particular food in the past. It seems to have started a few months after I had some major dental work but I don't know if there's any correlation.
Avatar n tn Even if you do not have a progesterone or other identifiable allergy, you would likely benefit from a medicine called Xolair (omalizumab). It is given as a shot, usually monthly. This medicine shows great success in treating chronic hives (as well as asthma and allergy-related conditions). I hope this helps. At least it can point you in a direction you may mot have considered.
1653132 tn?1301852306 Hey all, so I've been suffering with CU for 6 months now. I have seen my doctor, allergist, dermatologist, and an acupuncturist, and no one can figure out what's causing the hives. I don't physically have the hives on my body unless i put pressure somewhere for an extended period of time, or lay out in the sun for a while, but the itch from the underlying hives is constant. Literally i wake up itchy, and I go to bed itchy and this has been going on daily for 6 months.
Avatar f tn Hi, Yes xyzal, clarinix and Zyrtec all are useful in treating allergic reactions like hives and provide immediate symptomatic relief and not letting them progress further. Cause for occurrence of hives is not found in many cases and is thought to be idiopathic, in such cases only measures for minimizing an attack are useful in tackling the situation as cause is not found. I would recommend to use Zyrtec which is available OTC for treating hives. Best.
Avatar f tn Im really scared cause i have never in my life had hives until halloween 2008. At first i thought it was just a rash but then it started going all over my body. My ankles, knees, and elbows were really swollen. They are still kind of itchy, burn, and hurt. I went to the doctor he gave me some pills called xyzal. He told me to take one a day but i been taking them for two days and i feel a little better and some has gone away but my hands and feet got very swollen and hurtful.
Avatar n tn There is also a new medication based on a humanized mouse anti-body that works for a lot of people with asthma and chronic hives and angioedema. (xolair....they company helps pay the cost, just apply....but it did not work for me, in fact it made things worse, but everyone else in the d0c's office had complete success.) I feel for you. You have to find a very good allergist who keeps up with the very latest approaches. I hope this helps you.
Avatar m tn I have had chronic hives for 2 years. I take Xyzal 2x a day, it has controlled my symptoms very well.
Avatar n tn I had a titanium hip joint replacement and about 6 or 7 weeks after surgery I started to have itchiness (all over my body) and hives. It started with a slight itch in the late afternoon and became severed after dinner in the early evening. I have seen an allergist and had blood work done and am waiting for the results and a follow up appointment.
Avatar f tn My otherwise healthy 9 year old has been suffering from chronic hives for about 6 months (anywhere between 3-6 times a week). Allergy tests were not helpful. He was not allergic to anything specific. Although the control area did show a reaction to something. The hives are occasionally accompanied with mild swelling on the extremities and they are extremely itchy. We are now checking for autoimmune disorders. Results are not in yet. Hopefully this is not it.
Avatar f tn Hives usually appear suddenly and go away on their own in a matter of days, hours, or even minutes. Chronic hives, however, can last for six weeks or more. Certain people have recurring outbreaks of hives for months or even years, and it's sometimes difficult to pinpoint the exact cause.
Avatar f tn I have had chronic hives for over 5years. Avatar f tn I have chronic acid reflux and hives for the past 20 years. I discuss this with my gastro doc many times as I have a terrible break out of hives each time I have a painful acid reflux attack. He doesn't seem to care. Anyway, please let me know what you find out. I take medication on a daily basis for both. I just had another bout of both (hives first) following a cold/sinus infection. By the way, I was going to a well known mold specialist for many years.
