xyzal

Avatar f tn Okay, here is my story,I am 28 and I have just been diagnosed with chronic hives and swelling, I am allergic to myself.....FUN! After 8 months of constant hives, lip swelling, eye swelling and finger swelling, i went to an allergist and got prescribed Xyzal. It worked great for the first 2 weeks and i was over joyed to have my life back! But the past few days, some hives have started to come back. I have been taking benadryl along with the xyzal as needed.
Avatar f tn I have been dealing with hives since 2000. All i have to do is be in the sun and i break out. I have tried Zyrtec, Allegra, Singular and now i'm on Xyzal. The Xyzal i only tried one time and woke up the next morning feeling like i was drunk and hit by a train. It left a horrible taste in my mouth. I am so sick of these hives. I'm getting married in August and have a terrible farmers tan and i am asking for any advice on what to do.
Avatar f tn the hives lessened but never fully went away. my weight ballooned and i was in a constant stupor and NOT HAPPY. oh noooo. eventually i started bi-weekly sessions of acupuncture which really really helped and finally i was off the medication. i still take a daily xyzal otherwise the hives come back not the anaphylaxis though. it took another 2 years to lose the steroid bloat. the steroids muck up your system totally. still can't take most dairy products.
Avatar f tn He told me to take one a day but i been taking them for two days and i feel a little better and some has gone away but my hands and feet got very swollen and hurtful. i dont know what it is and its scaring me because I've never been the type of person that has allergic reactions?
Avatar f tn Hi, Yes xyzal, clarinix and Zyrtec all are useful in treating allergic reactions like hives and provide immediate symptomatic relief and not letting them progress further. Cause for occurrence of hives is not found in many cases and is thought to be idiopathic, in such cases only measures for minimizing an attack are useful in tackling the situation as cause is not found. I would recommend to use Zyrtec which is available OTC for treating hives. Best.
Avatar n tn They have started taking me off one drug at a time, now I am only on Xyzal, Singulair and 2 Hydroxyzine HCL 25 daily. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I could do or suggest what my doctor may need to test for. The only known allergy I have is fish.
Avatar n tn I cant exercise, i cant even go outside in the winter, i break out in hives every single day and every time i do, my throat gets real scratchy, and really gets be scared. On top of that i'm also highly allergic to dust, molds, pollen, dander, and almost every other airborne allergens. So when i dont get hives from CU, i get them from the airborne allergens.
Avatar f tn Another Dermatologist had given zentel, Ivermectol for only one dose. and xyzal daily. Now She is not getting hives than previous days. will she get rid of hives completely?
Avatar n tn The other occasion, after getting off the pavement and into my house I broke out in hives on my bottom and then the hives spread across my body. In both instances the hives subsided in a couple of hours. My guess is that I have somehow developed a cold allergy-but is it possibly related to the snake bite or is it just a coincidence? Also-how long do cold allergies last? Thanks!
Avatar f tn I have a burning and itching sensation after being in sun for more than a hr and that turns into red rashes/hives the next day which covers my entire face and arms. It itches and it feels terribly hot on the affected area. I have typically dry skin so the problem worsens. I am also Hypothyroid for which i am taking proper medication. I dont know if that linked to my plb anyway.
Avatar m tn Skin conditions like psoriasis, dermatitis, lice, scabies and hives, internal diseases like liver and kidney disorders ,diabetes, iron deficiency anemia, irritation and allergic reactions to chemicals, wool, soaps ,cosmetics and certain foods can cause itchy skin. You can apply an anti-itch cream or lotion to the affected area. Oral antihistamine, such as Benadryl can also be used. You should take a comfortably cool bath and wear smooth-textured cotton clothing.
Avatar n tn I had a titanium hip joint replacement and about 6 or 7 weeks after surgery I started to have itchiness (all over my body) and hives. It started with a slight itch in the late afternoon and became severed after dinner in the early evening. I have seen an allergist and had blood work done and am waiting for the results and a follow up appointment.
Avatar n tn I have had a problem with hives all over my body for a month or more now. My hands start to itch first, then the bottom of my feet, then my scalp even the inside of my mouth itches sometimes. I'm a hairdresser and suspect it could be the chemicals and shampoos and products. Or could this be a food allergy? I take a wonderful antihistamine called xyzal. It works really well but when it wears off I'm in trouble.
Avatar n tn I have had on-and-off unexplained hives for over a year now. It really started two years ago, which I thought was a new allergic reaction to shellfish. The doctor gave me steroids. This past year, I got them again and had been eating shellfish, so thought it was the same thing. I got steroids, they gave me bad dreams. Hives didn't go away. Back to the doctor for different steroids, prednisone?, hives eventually went away.
Avatar m tn About 8 yrs ago it started with my daughter first she would get a severe stomach cramp and turn bright red from head to toe, itching and burning like she was on fire and hives would welt up all over her followed by vomiting. I had taken her to the dr. To be told it was a food allergy but her diet didn.t matter she could eat something one day no problems the next she'd have this episode.
Avatar n tn For the past year, I have been suffering from Chronic Idiopathic Urticaria. At first, the hives were quite sporadic, occurring once or twice a month, but since December 09, they've been occurring daily. They appear at different areas on my body (including my palms), but rarely on my face, and usually last 2-3 hours. I've been tested for allergies, both food and environmental, and the only positives were certain molds, trees, and grasses.
Avatar f tn I have been on many type of antibiotics, use a saline rinse 2-3 times a day, take Nasonex, Astepro, Xyzal, Singulair and headache medicine. Some days are better than other but most days are constant pain, numbness, throbbing. A cat scan showed fluid in maxillary sinuses and some ethnoid sinusitus but my ENT surgeon shows no infection and is now considering a tubinate "snip" as he calls it to because my left turbinate is a bit large.
Avatar n tn Do you still suffer from an itchy and runny nose ? If not, maybe it is time to get off of the xyzal tablets , but you need your doctor's permission and your doctor will tell you the safe way to gradually get off of this medication. Otherwise, there will no doubt be side effects of withdrawing from this medication which you say you have been taking for five years. Another idea is to check out this website : www.drugs.com. This is a great website.
Avatar f tn I also noticed an exzema rash under my arms and inside my left elbow. The rash under my right arm and left elbow is quite itchy. Why is this happening?
Avatar m tn Hi. I have hives(urticaria) almost everyday for 12 weeks or so. I've seen 2 dermatologists. I've been on xyzal, doxepine and hydroxyzine with little or any real benefit. The hives are red and itch. They come and go. Other than that I have no other problems. My doc said they usually never find a reason and most go away over time. No blood tests ordered. Anyone have any suggestions? It's annoying.
Avatar f tn I have been on 5 -6 courses of steroids and I continue to be on a double dose of Zyrtec, a double dose Xyzal, 1 doses of Doxepin and a dose of Singulair. These have worked for a while and then the hives come back even stronger. The Allergist now wants to add a dose of cyclosporine and if that does not work he wants to add a dose of Methotrexate – all of which have side effects that have to be monitored on a regular basis.
Avatar f tn I tried and and have not had any hives. What a difference in my life with out them. I was miserable. Medications like benadryl or atarax are labled a H1 histamine blockers. Meds like zantac, pepcid or tagament are H2 histamin blockers. I take 25 mg of atarax in the am along with a pepcid. In the pm, I take another pepcid. Coincidence or not since I have been doing this combination my hives have gone away. Just thougt I would share this.
Avatar n tn There is also a new medication based on a humanized mouse anti-body that works for a lot of people with asthma and chronic hives and angioedema. (xolair....they company helps pay the cost, just apply....but it did not work for me, in fact it made things worse, but everyone else in the d0c's office had complete success.) I feel for you. You have to find a very good allergist who keeps up with the very latest approaches. I hope this helps you.
