Xeloda hand foot syndrome treatment

Common Questions and Answers about Xeloda hand foot syndrome treatment

xeloda

Avatar f tn From your description, your mother seems to be suffering from hand-foot syndrome, which is a common adverse effect of Xeloda. Hand-foot syndrome is a condition where the palms of the hands and soles of the feet become reddish, swollen and develop pain and tingling sensations. Sometimes, rash or peeling of the skin in the palms and soles also occur. Reducing the dose of Xeloda can help decrease this side effect.
Avatar f tn Hi Judi, This sounds like the "red hand and foot syndrome" you get with Xeloda (another chemo treatment). Does it get hot and itch? I found that using cold packs from the freezer when it was itching/burning helped to relieve the symptoms. As for the skin peeling I used Shea Butter. Just the shea butter without any additives (like perfume). It is expensive but I shopped on ebay (wonderful place!
Avatar n tn Chiku, From what i have read Nudoxa is a new drug developed in india and is similar to Doxil but with fewer side effects. One of the major side effect of Doxil is the "Hand and Foot Syndrome" . Some people on this forum have used Doxil and Avastin as part of their 2d line treatment. If Nodoxa is same as Doxil talk to your oncologist about his view on adding Avastin to it. I am not sure if Nodoxa has been tested in a combination chemo setting.
Avatar f tn ya...but it seems mom has two different cells one is in breast and other in liver (some he3+, i guess) ,for oncolet the breast cells are being controlled but not the liver cells ,thats why disease has reoccured in liver ,is what the reply the doctor gave me,so in order to control both, mom needs to take oncolet and xeloda together....
Avatar m tn After one three-week cycle my doctor discontinued the Xeloda. I was able to complete treatment with the oxiliplatin. This was in 2004 and I am cancer free today. Ask your mother's doctor for something else. If possible she should not stop chemo until her doctor is certain no trace of cancer remains in her lymph system. Good luck.
Avatar f tn then i woke then next morning I have redness, burning and tingling in both hands. It was time to see my podiatrist for athletes feet he said this 2 foot 1 hand syndrome it inot infectious or contagious it will resolve once you get rid your athletes feet. well I have family & id ont want effect them. Help anybody??
Avatar f tn By your feet being in close proximity you have spread it via foot to foot contact then you have touched the infected foot with you hand hence leading to "Two feet and hand disease", as fungal infections spread via physical contact. Further creedence is added to this diagnosis as you said you have applied hydocortisone cream (steroid creams).
Avatar f tn The she started getting hand to foot syndrome and everything I have read says the chemo may need to be adjusted. She says her dr wanted to stay on track with the chemo and it would go away after chemo. The more we question her I now know that she has 64 lesions. Is this a large number or is this a small number? My sisters and I are trying to figure out just how bad this is... we are not comfortable with what my mom is actually telling us... PLEASE HELP!!!
Avatar f tn 5KGS AT 5FT HEIGHT, WE ARE TREATING THE METS WHICH HAS GONE TO HER LUNGS AND BONES AND LIVER WITH XELODA 1GRAM TWICE A DAY FOR 14 DAYS, AND THEY SCARED US WITH THE SIDE EFFECTS,BUT WE ARE ALSO GIVING HER HOMEOPATHY. WE ARE GIVING A GOOD NUTRITIONAL DIET ALONG WITH A PROTINEX SUPPLEMENT. ON 5TH OF FEB IS HER APPOINTMENT WITH THE ONCO. I HOPE XELODA HAS ARRESTED THE GROWTH OF CANCER CELLS. IF IT HAS CAN YOU TELL ME HOW MANY CYCLES CAN SHE TAKE WITHOUT IT DOING MUCH HARM.
484033 tn?1208516117 I had no trouble with fine skills such as you describe, butI had to wear an oven glove to take food out of the refrigerator, otherwise my hand would instantly become painfully numb and I would drop things. Couldn't walk barefoot on cool floors, always wore slippers. This problem was most noticible immediately after each infusion and it usually resolved in a few days (til the next infusion).
Avatar f tn My husband was diagnosed with colon Cancer in Feb 2007. He took chemo drug Xeloda and had standard radiation. During a check up in January 2008, tumors were found in his lungs- one in each lung, sizes: 7mm and 13mm. He took chemo: Folfox, Avastin, Oxaliplatin, and Xeloda until April 2008. The April CT scan revealed that the tumors had grown slightly and that there were four more small nodules visable.
Avatar f tn I am 2 mos. post triple w/victrellis and am experiencing leg and foot problems. The twitch, itch and have pain in right foot. Has anyone else experienced this? Basically everything else is going well except some hair issues. Thanks for your insights.
Avatar n tn I had hypothalamic lacunar stroke on 01/09/09 with subsequent thalamic pain syndrome on my right side arm/hand & leg/foot/toes. Constant tingling/burning/tightness/numbness & cold my entire right side of body. After stroke, my doctor immediately put me on 75 mg Plavix same day. After putting up with syndrome for 4 weeks, I went to my neurologist Thursday, 02/05/09 & told him the pain was really getting to me. He prescribed Lyrica 75 mg twice a day.
Avatar f tn she needs to have cooling to her hands and feet during the chemo, stay clear away from any heated material, loose clothes, hot food, tepid showers, go to the Doxil site and read their info on hand and foot syndrome there they give you the answers.
431950 tn?1262819314 Be very careful of wearing anything that rubs, no bra, hot water, heat from cooking and all the things that can cause the rash and hand/foot syndrome. I had a bad sunburn effect under my arms , that cracked and peeled. It was really bad. Also, had a bad rash on my thighs. The Gyn/Onc finally prescribed Prednisone for me. I could only take a tepid bath or shower. I use to ice my hands and feet during infusion and suck on ice chips. Thank God I never got the hand and foot syndrome.

Avatar f tn will xeloda given alone treat both tumours in chest wall with mestases in liver.
Avatar f tn I have been expierencing a sharp shooting pain at the top of my right foot between the small toe and the second toe. It usually happens on and off and at rest. I usaully get it for two, three days and then goes away for a month or two and then I get it again.
463897 tn?1468013750 Beginning of this year, my foot started hurt badly so I went to the doctors and took a normal X-ray, and there was a small fracture in my toe of my left foot. After three months of treatment I went back to work, then my knee started to hurt again and it gets worse when I walk too much, but only once in awhile, so I thought maybe is because I rested too much.
Avatar n tn For the past two years, my right foot gets swolen, when compared to my left foot. My regular physician, and she is an excellent one, had an ultrasound and mri done along with xrays. I also had an EKG done as part of my physical. She informed me that she didn't find a problem; I should accept it as part of the growing old process. (All my life, my right foot has always been bigger (!) than my left foot). I am still concerned. I would appreciate your advice. Thank you.
Avatar n tn My onco tried me on taxol, and avastin, then xeloda. Neither of these worked. He suggests that I try Jemzar. I have stage IV mestatic breast cancer that has spread to my spine. I was dx in Feb 2002. I have previously been on different chemo.surgery, hormonal.. arimidex, aromosin, fasoldex . and several radiation treatments. I am undecided on doing any more chemo. My cancer , of course , is er/pr positive. Is there any advice on this chemo. or is there another hormonal I could try.
Avatar f tn I also believe the reason they are now choosing chemo over radiation is because radiation is local treatment and chemo systemic, (whole body) treatment and really what she needs.
Avatar f tn s very hard to get proper testing/treatment there, due to the NHS and their specific guidelines, regarding thyroid testing/treatment. We do have a few members who have been able to go "private" and get adequate treatment; if that's an option, let us know. As soon as you can, please post whatever thyroid test results you can, that will best show your current status.
