Xeloda hand foot

Common Questions and Answers about Xeloda hand foot

xeloda

Avatar f tn From your description, your mother seems to be suffering from hand-foot syndrome, which is a common adverse effect of Xeloda. Hand-foot syndrome is a condition where the palms of the hands and soles of the feet become reddish, swollen and develop pain and tingling sensations. Sometimes, rash or peeling of the skin in the palms and soles also occur. Reducing the dose of Xeloda can help decrease this side effect.
Avatar m tn I was prescribed oral Xeloda together with infusions of oxiliplatin, but had to discontinue the Xeloda. My body smply could not tolerate the drug and while taking Xeloda I lost more than one pound per day, snd had relentless nausea and terrible pain in my hands and feet. After one three-week cycle my doctor discontinued the Xeloda. I was able to complete treatment with the oxiliplatin. This was in 2004 and I am cancer free today. Ask your mother's doctor for something else.

Avatar f tn Hi Judi, This sounds like the "red hand and foot syndrome" you get with Xeloda (another chemo treatment). Does it get hot and itch? I found that using cold packs from the freezer when it was itching/burning helped to relieve the symptoms. As for the skin peeling I used Shea Butter. Just the shea butter without any additives (like perfume). It is expensive but I shopped on ebay (wonderful place!
Avatar f tn will xeloda given alone treat both tumours in chest wall with mestases in liver.
408448 tn?1286883821 Anyone ever use Xeloda pills? It is for colon cancer, but has been used in ovarian too. More for mucinous type. My cancer got pretty active on last treatment.
484033 tn?1208516117 I had no trouble with fine skills such as you describe, butI had to wear an oven glove to take food out of the refrigerator, otherwise my hand would instantly become painfully numb and I would drop things. Couldn't walk barefoot on cool floors, always wore slippers. This problem was most noticible immediately after each infusion and it usually resolved in a few days (til the next infusion).
Avatar f tn 5KGS AT 5FT HEIGHT, WE ARE TREATING THE METS WHICH HAS GONE TO HER LUNGS AND BONES AND LIVER WITH XELODA 1GRAM TWICE A DAY FOR 14 DAYS, AND THEY SCARED US WITH THE SIDE EFFECTS,BUT WE ARE ALSO GIVING HER HOMEOPATHY. WE ARE GIVING A GOOD NUTRITIONAL DIET ALONG WITH A PROTINEX SUPPLEMENT. ON 5TH OF FEB IS HER APPOINTMENT WITH THE ONCO. I HOPE XELODA HAS ARRESTED THE GROWTH OF CANCER CELLS. IF IT HAS CAN YOU TELL ME HOW MANY CYCLES CAN SHE TAKE WITHOUT IT DOING MUCH HARM.
Avatar f tn My husband was diagnosed with colon Cancer in Feb 2007. He took chemo drug Xeloda and had standard radiation. During a check up in January 2008, tumors were found in his lungs- one in each lung, sizes: 7mm and 13mm. He took chemo: Folfox, Avastin, Oxaliplatin, and Xeloda until April 2008. The April CT scan revealed that the tumors had grown slightly and that there were four more small nodules visable.
Avatar f tn My mom took Xeloda also as a maintenance drug for colorectal cancer. Typically diet and exercise do not affect CEA levels; however, inflammation can affect it. Sometimes CEA levels will rise if there is any type of inflammation. I know this is a scary time. Feel free to send me a message if you need to talk.
Avatar f tn I am taking Xeloda and hoping that will help shrink this huge tumor. I cannot take infusion chemotheraphy for this as my side effects were so extreme the first time that Xeloda seems to be my only choice. However, I mostly would like to know what sort of bandages I could use if it breaks through and what can be done to diminish the rancid odor. This discussion is related to ulcerating tumor.
Avatar f tn Within a month, the breast cancer started in her skin around the site of the node. She now has a red rash (skin mets) in approx half of her chest wall and is getting Chemo (Xeloda) and Herceptin. My question is, the skin is beginning to "harden" around the node removal surgery site. What does this mean? Any other comments on Skin mets would be greatly appreciated.

Avatar n tn It's me again. thanks for your comments. i'm really worried now...as if your feedback wasn't scary enough, now i had a weird muscle spasm/twitch in my left foot during the night, which lasted about a minute. it wasn't the whole foot, didn't include the ankle. just the bottom of my foot and the toes...What's going on??
1467506 tn?1286413017 ) The pain begins at my knuckle joint and extends down all fingers, some wrist pain as well though that seems to come and go whereas finger pain is always there, just intensity changes with activity. I am planning on finding a hand doc this week but wanted to know if this sounded like anything any of you have experienced before. Might it be from the FM or is it most likely not related?
Avatar n tn Yes, intervertebral disc herniation in the cervical an lumbosacral region can cause these symptoms in hands and feet due to compression of exiting nerve roots at the cervical level and lumbar level, responsible for hand and foot pain respectively. Cervical disc compression if severe or associated with spinal canal stenosis can lead to symptoms in the feet also. You need a neurologist to examine you clinically, ask for an MRI spine to check the exact levels and evidence of spinal stenosis.

Avatar f tn I'm a fairly healthy 25-year-old woman. I work retail. 9 days ago I was diagnosed with hand foot & mouth after I went to a walk in clinic with a bizarre rash on my hands and feet. It was extremely itchy and the "hives" were ring-like. No hives/sores on my mouth. They gave me a steroid shot and a Benadryl shot and sent me on my way. The rash went away. It's now been 9 days and I still have a low grade fever, very little energy, little appetite and just generally feeling bad.
Avatar n tn If your symptoms are confined strictly to your left foot and your left hand, this would unlikely to be related to your C5-C6 herniated disc. A herniated disc at that level would possibly explain your left hand symptoms, but would not also cause symptoms just in your left foot. If your symptoms involve your whole left arm and left leg (or the entire left side of your body) one possibility is that the problem is in the brain rather in the spine or the peripheral nervous system.
