Common Questions and Answers about Who is the restasis girl

restasis

Avatar m tn Can Restasis increase the tear production and improve the tear quality as well ? Is Restasis only working for dry eye by inflammation ? Can the tear plug be done a regular eye doctor or an eye surgeon ?
Avatar m tn If after a 9 months the person is still symptomatic on restasis twice per day and preservative free artificial tears 2 to 4 times/day than I switch from restasis to Cequa, which is the same medicine as restasis (cyclosporine) but twice as concentrated and is said to penetrate deeper into the cornea. Cequa is more expensive. For restasis I personally use the preservative free drops and use up the entire dropperrte before opening a new one.
Avatar f tn I'm on restasis, my wife is on restasis, I use restasis in my practice. the medicine does not cause floaters. Floaters can occur at any time. If they start and you are doing something else like mowing the yard, reading a book or starting restasis the relationship is COINCIDENTAL. On the other hand if you are hit in the eye with a fist and note floaters the relationship is CAUSATIVE.
Avatar m tn I'm 35-year-old male in otherwise good health (I did have Lasik 10 years ago with no problems other than some dryness). 9 weeks ago after the birth of my second daughter, I started having some discomfort from dryness in my eyes, and then one day after a panic attack (my wife had complications post delivery and we had to rush her to ER), my vision went blurred and it has not returned to normal since then.
Avatar n tn Will the Restasis increase the moisture and worsen the Fuchs? What is the failure rate on cataract w/IOL combined w/ dry eye combined w/ Fuchs? He is concerned w/ this combo. I am seeing glares at nite and eyes are also astigmatic. I am 62. This discussion is related to Fuch's Dystrophy?.
429949 tn?1224691579 They also contain a very small amount of a chemical that is used in organ transplantation to keep the immune system from rejecting the donor organ. But since the chemical is used in such a small amount in Restasis that it does not cause any side effects when used as a topical eye drop treatment. Now, I am wondering if my immune system could be what has been attacking my eyes and tear producing glands.
Avatar f tn Hi. I have posted several questions regarding my dry eyes but think I realize what really is irritating them the most. It's the fluorescent lighting at work. My eyes seem fine in the morning then around 1:00, at the SAME TIME every day, my eyes get real watery & hurt. I don't work on the computer at work but do get on quite a bit a home. That also aggravates my eyes. This all came out of the blue 2 months ago. I have been fine up until then which is puzzling..
Avatar f tn Hi there, You may not be aware but your question has landed in the MS community which is probably not the right community to answer this question... All i can tell you is Restasis is typically used to treat dry eye to increase tear production, and it also helps decrease ocular surface disease, lessen the severity of dry eye symptoms and significant reduction in ocular pain postoperative with Glaucoma but i'm unaware of Restasis being used to treat Glaucoma specifically.
Avatar f tn I just got back from my optomologist & he prescribed for me Restasis. He mentioned that once you're on Restasis, it's an on going thing it's not really temporary. Is that the case, do I have to stay on it. I was hoping that once my eye is feeling better, I could just use artificial tears to keep my eyes from drying so badly. He also changed my contact lenses to Acuvue Oasys. Any advice or info would be great.............................
Avatar m tn there is a new medication that works like restasis called Xidra it is supposed to kick in faster (3-4 months) than restasis (4-6 months) but has not been shown to be better than restasis and is more costly. Read the section on dry eyes on my blog page.
Avatar n tn Not likely. It is an anti rejection drug used in organ transplant. Dr. O.
Avatar f tn It could be and I suggest you do see the ENT. I am on restasis as is my wife for dry eyes.
Avatar f tn no the heat has not effect on the iris pigments, any more than going outside on a hot day.
Avatar f tn Refresh PM gel, Systane Ultra lubricating drops and Restasis. Optimologist prescribed Restasis 6 weeks ago. Still not sure why eyes are red all of the time. Suggested allergy testing, which I have scheduled now. Optomologist says that he still isn't sure what is going on and wants to put plugs in my eyes. My eyes now feel better than they have for quite awhile but still red like no sleep (I get 8 hrs daily) I have 3 questions; 1. can plugs be used with Restasis?
Avatar m tn Steroid drops are not a problem, in fact I often put the patient on steroid drops when they start restasis to reduce stinging/burning. Use the steroids about 2-3 weeks. Good luck. Be patient. Restasis is a wonderful medication. My wife has been on it about 3 years with wonderful results.
Avatar f tn My wife and I are both on Restasis with fabulous success and I use it extensively in my practice and have recommended it many times her at the Eye Forum. I think your experience is atypical as Restasis is the most widely prescribed prescription eye drop in the USA. A tear duct plug would not cause blurred vision nor ringing in your ear (tinnitus). If the ringing is new you need to see an ENT physician for an audiogram and evaluation of the ringing.
Avatar n tn I prescribe Restasis and I use Restasis. I am not familiar with a blue vial holder. I Googled the term and nothing comes up so I don't know anything about it.
Avatar m tn I also have rapid eyelid twiching, which I do not know is whether is part of the same disease or no. Initially ophthamologist told me my symptoms are from dry eyes, I have used, systane, refresh, restasis, steroids, dry eye multivitamins, fish oil, and now I have punctal plugs. I have tried antiglare coating for glasses, nothing takes the glare, starburst and halos away. Symtpoms are worse at night.
Avatar f tn I've had difficulty with intermittent blurred vision for over a year. All neurological tests have been negative. Two months ago, my eye doctor changed my prescription slightly, and also suggested I try Restasis to see if maybe my eyes were just dry. I haven't noticed much of a change. I went today for a recheck. I read the eye chart with my right eye and did OK, but I could barely see the top line with my left eye. I was very shocked, as this has never happened before.
Avatar n tn My cataracts were diagnosed by an optometrist, who is not an MD, so she referred me to the first ophthalmologist I saw,who was the one who diagnosed the holes in my retinas, and who advised me to have my cataracts removed. And the second one I saw is the one who told me that having the cataracts removed would make my dry eye even worse, is an ophthalmologist, too. They both have "MD" after their names, so is there another kind of doctor I need to see?
427279 tn?1210919821 Did he do any test to see how sevier your dry eye is? I was considering asking about restasis, did he say it is safe or if there is any side effects with it? I'm glad he didn't find any of the other problems you mentioned.
Avatar n tn I decided to take a picture and post it as well its my left eyelid so in the picture it would be the right eye. Please tell me how I can make the swelling go away for good. http://yfrog.com/jteyesj Best Regards!
Avatar f tn My last period was 2/16/15 (almost positive) and my due date is 11/23/15 My question is who is the father? I had sex with guy 1 on 2/26/15 and then again in 3/2/15 but then I had sex with guy 2 on 3/14/15 Conception date? Please and thank you.
Avatar n tn It also means using the drops twice/day for the rest of your life and the drops take 4 months to kick in. It is also outlandishly expensive once the coupon for the first refill is used. It is not approved for MGD. You need to call whomever prescribed Xiidra and ask your questions. Also ask yourself if you are willing to accept everything I described.
Avatar m tn I keep mine in the fridge also, opened and unopened. The doctor had recommended to keep the opened one in the fridge so I can use it till it's empty, but I am not sure about the unopened ones.
Avatar m tn That is something your surgeon should advise you on. In our practice we resume restasis 3-5 days post surgery.
Avatar n tn If you use up all the restasis in each dropperette before opening a new one you will reduce your costs by 50-75%
