Rare anyone to be too sensitive to restasis. My wife and I have been on restasis for many years with fabulous results. restasis works with both forms of dry eyes. Many people have stinging with restasis for several weeks which can be helped by using steroid drops for a couple of weeks. there is a new medication that works like restasis called Xidra it is supposed to kick in faster (3-4 months) than restasis (4-6 months) but has not been shown to be better than restasis and is more costly.
I'm on restasis, my wife is on restasis, I use restasis in my practice. the medicine does not cause floaters. Floaters can occur at any time. If they start and you are doing something else like mowing the yard, reading a book or starting restasis the relationship is COINCIDENTAL. On the other hand if you are hit in the eye with a fist and note floaters the relationship is CAUSATIVE.
If you use up all the restasis in each dropperette before opening a new one you will reduce your costs by 50-75%

I have said this before but both my wife and I have bad dry eyes and my wife has been on restasis with good results for about 15 years and me for about 10 years. Note it takes 4-6 months for Restasis to kick in and work fully. There are too other drops that are in this family.
My new eye Doc started me out on Acuvail for 3 weeks due to severe dry eyes (this due to prev. radiation), I have been through the plugs and he resorted to cauterizing the lower ducts. I dont see much improvement after the procedure. He still has me doing 3 months of Acuvail. What's the purpose of this? he doesnt think my watery eyes are allergy related too. Would having the upper ducts cauterized help any? I am only 48 yrs old, with no other eye problems too.
I did get plugs, but how do you tell if they are still there? I started restasis but it burned my eyes so terribly. I put in two drops two times a day and that probably was too much. I had such a terrible reaction to it. It has been about two years and my eyes seem to have recovered, but I would like to try it again. Do you think that is wise? My eyes sting constantly if I do not put drops in every 15 to 20 min. It is difficult. I just need other alternatives. Help need advice.
I have dry eyes, so I recently started to use Restasis. But I also have allergy eyes, what can I take that will alleviate the itching, redness withone interfering with the Restasis.
This could be the blur although the doctor thinks its possible he uncertain as it is tiny. I am also using Restasis which has given me great relief from dry eye.I might add that although I have seen several eye care professionals none of them suggested Restasis, I had to demand it. The blur predate the Restasis. I know that burning can be a side effect for Restatsis as it wakens the eyes system to create moisture. I don't mind it but it has reminded me of the plug.
I just got back from my optomologist & he prescribed for me Restasis. He mentioned that once you're on Restasis, it's an on going thing it's not really temporary. Is that the case, do I have to stay on it. I was hoping that once my eye is feeling better, I could just use artificial tears to keep my eyes from drying so badly. He also changed my contact lenses to Acuvue Oasys. Any advice or info would be great.............................
My ophthalmologist recently prescribed restasis for dry eyes. I read that cyclosporin can causes cancer. Is this true? Are these drops safe?
I have used Restasis and have tried allergy drops. My eyes are always red and feel as if I have something in them (which is the bumps under my eyelids). Does anyone know what I can do about this. I've been to so many eye Dr's. and I cannot get them cleared up. I used to wear contact lenses and now I can no longer wear them. It has been almost 5 years since I was able to wear my contacts. Some Dr's. want to give me steriod drops, but I do not want to put them in my eyes.
Refresh PM gel, Systane Ultra lubricating drops and Restasis. Optimologist prescribed Restasis 6 weeks ago. Still not sure why eyes are red all of the time. Suggested allergy testing, which I have scheduled now. Optomologist says that he still isn't sure what is going on and wants to put plugs in my eyes. My eyes now feel better than they have for quite awhile but still red like no sleep (I get 8 hrs daily) I have 3 questions; 1. can plugs be used with Restasis?
I have a moderate to serious dry eye. I am going to start my Restasis today and I know that I will not see the result till 2 months or more from now. I am also planning for a cataract surgery in 1 to 2 months. I also foresee that I will use some steroid or antibotics for a few weeks after the surgery. Do I need to stop Restasis once I start the steroid ?
m not sure how you might get Restasis (cyclosporine) check out their website. www.restasis.com Restasis is the most widely prescribed eyedrop in the US. 90% are post menopausal females; 10% males and pre-menopausal females. Seems there should be some way to get the medication. a factor raised is the cost. The drops are non-preserved and you are dispensed two dropperettes to use each day. Everyone, myself and my wife also, use up one completely before opening another.
My wife and I are both on restasis. Surely you don't mean you're paying $420/month for restasis. That surely is for all your medications. You can buy restasis for cash, no insurance for much less than than and also there is a discount coupon available from the manufacturer. You can also buy on internet from pharmacies e.g. Canada. MOREOVER if you use one vial up completely it will last 2 days. If you used as directed you would use 4 vials. This cuts your cost by 75%.
Hi, I am in search of new contact lenses. I have severe dry eyes and don't know what to get. I used to have Acuvue 2 and felt they were too dry, so I my doctor recommended that I switch to Acuvue Oaysis. These were much worse. The lense felt like it was a thicker material and immediately sucked all the oxygen out of my eyes. During this period I also started on Restasis and even that doesn't seem to be working.
My Eye Doctor suggested I keep Restasis in the fridge to make more comfortable and reduce the burning and to keep using ir for 2 days. Does Restasis lose its effectiveness when placed in the fridge. Also when are results typically seen? I have a TBUT of 5 and hoping to see an increase if ues consistently.
I had cataract surgery 5 days ago and wan't to restart my Restasis. Can using it negatively effect the healing?
I have used Restasis for a year now and, while it did start working well after I had used it for about four months, it stopped working about three months ago. The dry eye is terribly uncomfortable, makes my vision blurry, and causes eye pain, redness and bad discomfort in general, and OTC lubricating drops don't help. I have cataracts and holes in my retinas in both eyes.
You need also to see an eye MD ophthalmologist to evaluate the other problems. You may need to go on Restasis. You need to be sure some new eye problem has not arisen.
