Common Questions and Answers about When will zomig go generic

zomig

Avatar f tn Could be migraines. Does it throb right behind your left eye??? I've had migraines for years (comes with having 4 kids I think-ha); the only meds that help relieve most of the pain are Zomig (really expensive, but no generic version yet) and Meloxicam (generic for Mobic) - both pills taken together usually decrease pain within an hour or two. Hope this helps. My doc also suggested Imitrex when I can't afford the Zomig anymore.
1102283 tn?1257817472 Anyway, because of superior bioavailability of the more expensive triptans is why I suggest getting the back up prescriptions for the Zomig Nasal Spray and the Maxalt-MLTs just in case the generic Sumatriptan tablets do not work for you. But, for cost reasons, fill the generic Sumatriptan tablet prescription first! (as long as the doctor at the clinic agrees) And, try to get samples of what ever triptans the clinic has to hand out if possible, regardless of the brand..
Avatar f tn The triptan you are currently using is Imitrex, generic name Sumatriptan. The triptan that I use is Zomig Nasal Spray, generic name Zolmitriptan. Some other examples of triptans are Maxalt, generic name Rizatriptan and Axert, generic name Almotriptan. It would be worth it to give one of these other triptans a try. I would suggest getting a triptan in a fast acting form, either a quick dissolve tablet or a nasal spray.
306455 tn?1288862071 There is a free web site that will send you alerts about 48 hours before certain weather conditions will effect things like migraines, asthma, allergy's etc. It's pretty cool. I woke up this morning with a migraine, hadn't checked my e-mail in 2 days, but there was a warning sent 2 days ago, that I might get a migraine within 48 hours. There are all kind of medical conditions that are effected by the weather, so if you can be warned ahead of time, it can be a big help.
768044 tn?1294223436 The reason I have access to Morphine and Demerol is due to the fact that when I have had severe migraines and I go to the hospital, they inject you with most likely Demerol but sometimes Morphine, and thats all, so rather than wait in a hospital, I just take the medication at home and lie down. I have also started Botox treatment for my migraines, as they are primarily started by anxiety, and my muscles in my neck and upper back seize, thus causing the migraine.
768044 tn?1294223436 For the majority of my migraine headaches, the triptan that I use is Zomig Nasal Spray. I find that of all the triptans I have tried, for me, Zomig works best. I use the 5mg Nasal Spray. I also have a prescription for Imitrex Injection too, although the Imitrex Injection is to use for my most severe migraine headaches (what I used to call my "suicide headaches" or what I now refer to as a 9/10 headache using the Pain Scale that was recently posted in Pain Management Community Forum).
Avatar m tn But, the eye doctor will probably tell you that it is not eye-related and it is probably a migraine and will probably suggest that you go to a neurologist. But, it's worth going to the eye doctor just to make sure! And, sometimes a trigger can be poor eye sight and not wearing glasses, so it's good to go because if you do need glasses, then, if you start wearing them you will probably get less migraines. But, you should STILL see a neurologist too.
910419 tn?1289483727 I have a tentative diagnosis of basilar migraine that got slapped on me ~7 years ago. That was before my heart condition was diagnosed, so I'm not sure if I still qualify. The thing is, I have an Rx for Zomig, (a triptan) and my mom's made me really scared of taking the Zomig for fear of cutting off blood circulation. Does anybody else here have basilar migraines and take triptans? If not, do you have an abortive of any kind?
1088430 tn?1259159773 Dealt on my own for 6yrs (WAY TOO LONG). When the neurologist gave me an rx for relpax (along with two other things) couple of wks ago, had no clue why it only had six pills in the box. They worked like GOLD if I took them soon enough with an acute migraine attack. Didn't last long though. After four days, was out of the six pills. Thought that's why he gave me "5 refills" until dumby me went to the pharmacy to get what I thought would be the first refill.
Avatar n tn However after about 4 months I started getting big headaches again. I started taking 1 zomig when needed since I was told they are not addictive. After some time of taking zomig nearly everyday I had to resort to syndol again. The side effects of zomig are not pleasant at all and drain all my energy and are too expensive to take everyday. The syndol seemed to be working but after a while they kind of stopped working again but was again addicted.
Avatar f tn Chest and stomach symptoms worsen when laying down, head symptoms worsen when standing up. Symptoms quickly come and go except for vision, coldness, nausea and burning, which are constant. Zomig tasted so bad as it eventually dripped my neck that I hacked a few times and a little blood came up. I have asthma, adhd, insommnia and depression. Two months ago I experienced an overdose on excedrin, clonidine and benadryl and recovered. At the time, I was informed of a potential heart murmur.
Avatar f tn It is the new generation rizatriptan and the side effects with me anyway were minimal in comparasion with other tablets like cafergot, migral and zomig. With zomig it used to give me a terrible sensation of my head been squeezed in a vice and with time it just got worse. I believe all medication messes with your liver and kidneys - the secret is to find one that works for you and has minimal side effects.
Avatar n tn t snowball into a severe migraine...but the thing is, the Zomig will work (sometimes the headache comes back, though, which is normal), but then the next day I'll get the mild headache again! Zomig is a very expensive medication and although I am covered for perscription drugs, I don't think its a medication that is meant to be taken everyday. And like I said I don't think the migraines are bad enough to warrant preventative medications...
Avatar m tn There are lots of triptans on the market and imitrex is one of the first, the generic name is called sumatriptan and it is what they will give you in the hospital, but by injecteion, if you ever go in for a migraine... they won't give you any other triptan at the hospital usually because sumatriptan by injection is pretty much the best triptan out there!! But, the names of some other triptans are maxalt, axert, zomig (like i take) ... etc.
521800 tn?1212329682 Thank you for your response, next time I go to the doctor i will definitly ask for an antimigraine. I used to also use the Zomig Nasal Spray but that would just immediatly put me to sleep and when i would wake up my body would feel sore but my headache was gone. i had also tried other pills to take as soon as i felt the migraine coming but those never really worked. Is there anything i should be worried about with the zomig because that seemed to be the only thing that worked before.
Avatar n tn Hi.... in order that I use them: Home use: - Zomig nasal spray... it is a triptan... so, a migraine medication. At the first signs of a migraine. - Naproxen tablets. If the triptan doesn't provide relief. Help it out with Naproxen... a strong prescription NSAID that is often used for migraine pain. - Gravol tablets. Also will use this if the zomig doesn't help. OR i will use this along with the zomig right away if i have nausea with the migraine.
1030950 tn?1261010513 it is an acceptable reason to go and you will get the tests done faster and you will get better pain management treatment at a hospital.
Avatar f tn I took a clearblue digital test on the beginning of my second week of possible conception and it was negative. Tomorrow will be the beginning of my fourth week. When can I take a test again and it be a reliable answer. I ahve been told that decent levels of the HCG hormone dont show up until about 3 weeks. I am so tired of waiting, I need to know if I am so I can breathe. I also need to know if i am not so I dont have to worry about what medicines to take and what not to lift and etc.
Avatar f tn I take Imitrex, there is also Zomig. The codeine will DEFINITELY cause rebound headaches. I have had both, and they are both just as painful!! But once I was off the pain meds, I had no more headaches. It wasn't until years later I started getting migraines with aura and vomiting. I got very addicted to my pain meds. Vicodin, Norco, etc. I didn't know how to stop so I went to a clinic and they put me on methadone. Now I am trying to get off that 5 years later.
Avatar f tn But, there are times where I will go 3 or 4 days without needing to use it. And there are also times where I will use it every day for sometimes up to a week. My Zomig Nasal Spray works about 90% of the time and I have no side effects either, except sometimes if I am using it every single day then my nose will get raw or I will get nose bleeds. I pretty much love my Zomig. But, sometimes it doesn't work. Usually when I get 9/10 or 10/10 headaches, it will not work.
86075 tn?1238115091 I have taken zomig for my migraines. it comes in a pill or nasal spray. if you can deal with nasal spray use it. it works really fast i just cant spray anything up my nose! haha one time was all i could handle. i take maxalt. for me it works the fastest. your dr. will probably give you several diff. kinds of samples and have you see which works best on you.
Avatar n tn doctors have gave up on helping me and when i get a very bad one i have to go to the er. i did get a script for zomig nasil spray it helpes but dont last long.nothing shows up on my mri , thankfully the tumor is still gone. i have tried so many meds , like you cant rember there names. thanks for your service in the military , sorry you had to go threw this serving our country. take care of your self.
1763313 tn?1313878457 t see it now, I believe this whole experience will actually make you a more well rounded person and you will be better off for it (I know that is the last thing you probably will believe right now and if anyone would have told me that when I first started experiencing anxiety, I would have thought they did not know what they were talking about). You will have setbacks, but that is true with any challenge we face...please feel free to ask as many questions as you like!
1325193 tn?1450127436 I also changed from regular to generic because of insurance, when this started. Of course, mr hypochondriac, me, wonders if it is the generic causing this issues. Look, I know there are others suffering way worse. I just my misery to end. This is horrible.
1134609 tn?1269272200 It has been an interesting process, but I think I have finally figured out the medication issues. Here's the lay of the land: 1. I have always been sensitive to medications; they either work for me or the SEs are unbearable. 2. I have never had any luck when I have been placed on the generic brands of medications. Celexa especially; I was on it for 10 years, tried the generic several times and paid for it. 3. I have also been on Neurontin for the past 10 years.
