Diamox (acetazolamide) has some off label uses but I am still combing through the limited publications on the subject and wouldn't suggest it unless u had very specific imaging and symptoms. When I was having frequent migraines and my insurance would only pay for one refill of Maxalt each month, I obtained prescriptions for both Maxalt and Relpax and filled both each month. They worked equally well for me.

d personally suggest getting a few triptan prescriptions or samples at once if possible due to the fact that you do not have insurance and triptans can be very expensive and you may want to be able to have a selection of price-points to choose from once at the pharmacy. The fast acting triptans such as Zomig Nasal Spray and Maxalt-MLTs are some of the best triptans on the market, but they are also the most expensive triptans on the market.

Hello Everyone, I'm 22 and just graduated University. I have been having migraines since I was about 7 years old now. However, over the years they have seemed to get much worse. I thought that the higher frequency could have been from my lack of sleep and bad diet that I had throughout high school and college. Now that I have been out of college for over a month now the migraines haven't seemed to subside.

A neurologist will be able to say for sure that this is a migraine and if it is not then you will get proper treatment for what it is instead of triptans which are migraine medication. If it is a migraine, which is probable, then a neurologist can prescribe preventative medication, which is better than using triptans daily...

I have no side effects with the Maxalt. When I take the Maxalt, it will stop the migraine an instant about an hour after taking the medicine. The maxalt has been a miracle drug for my headaches and I normally only have to take one in a day. This is one of the very few medicines that my body will tolerate without any problems. The Maxalt must still be working because I'm still very sick to my stomach. I bet I'd still have the migraine if I didn't take the medicine.

My question is, are these rebound headaches from the Maxalt? I use the Maxalt no more then once to twice a week. This could also be sinus headaches too, I'm not 100% sure as I feel pressure in my head also. Is it okay to take the Maxalt 1-2 times a week? I also have a spinal cord nerve injury and I do take the long acting oxycontin every 8 hours for the pain.

As they say, it's always better to be safe than sorry! You can never be too careful when it comes to addiction.

Does anyone know what the side effects would be of injecting maxalt? I find this impossible to believe that it would knock her out and turn her blue. Sadly, the police & EMT's didn't have just cause to bring her to the hospital. I'm at my wits end. Thanks for any help.

I currently use Imitrex and/or Maxalt (generic, of course) for migraine attacks, but was often running out of meds before I was able to refill (lovely insurance companies dictating how many days one can have relief from pain). Although I had heard good things about maxalt, I am unable to use it d/t some other health concerns. I am currently taking 300 mg, 2x/day. I started at 150 and after receiving some benefit, decided along w/ my neurologist to increase the dose to 300 mg 2x/day.

And... it's not something that is specific to axert or anything... it can happen if you mix any of the migraine meds with other medications that do stuff to serotonin... it's just that axert is one of the stronger ones...

The triptan that I use is Zomig Nasal Spray, generic name Zolmitriptan. Some other examples of triptans are Maxalt, generic name Rizatriptan and Axert, generic name Almotriptan. It would be worth it to give one of these other triptans a try. I would suggest getting a triptan in a fast acting form, either a quick dissolve tablet or a nasal spray.

I can no longer take triptians, no maxalt, Ematrex ect... as these types of meds will make the bleeding in my brain worse. I have been on them for 10+ years. I am still on Topamax and other meds. I took a clearblue digital test on the beginning of my second week of possible conception and it was negative. Tomorrow will be the beginning of my fourth week. When can I take a test again and it be a reliable answer. I ahve been told that decent levels of the HCG hormone dont show up until about 3 weeks. My first 2pregnacys they also gave me vicoden for when migranes were unbearable. This pregnancy my Dr told me I could also take maxalt( I was told w my first 2 that maxalt was not safe AT ALL) after doing some research I decided against maxalt but am continuing firocet.

i took 2 maxalt on saturday for a migraine, it didnt help at all, actually made it worse making me vomit for 3 days and today is friday, 6 days later and i still feel like, tired, weak, foggy, not hungry, cant really go to the bathroom even though i feel like i have to. is this gonna go away?

I also get migraines. have you paid attention to any of the known migraine "triggers" like red wiine & chocolate, hard cheeses etc. You probably have but I thought I'd mention it. Like the others, I take Maxalt for mine & it always works. Maxalt is from the migraine interrupter family & also includes imetrix & Zomig. Good luck - it sounds very difficult.

If you are like me with having BP nothing knocks you out, so the Maxalt will not make you sleepy. Or what about Topamax? There are other dissolvables out there too. I am surprised depakote is not helping, because it is used for migraine treatment. Start that darn magnesium or I am going to find you and kick your behind!!

s had problems with holding her urine. At times it will just come out. She was put on a med. from the Vet. Does anyone know of a generic brand or natural one that will do the same. I can't keep going back paying office visits everytime she needs a new med.
