When will asacol become generic

Common Questions and Answers about When will asacol become generic

asacol

Avatar m tn ve just started a flare when in the UK for xmas (had doxy... antibiotics which I think triggered it) and doc prescribed asacol foam enemas- FX they will work. I will buy a few boxes to take back to Japan and avoid another flare. It is ridiculous that all drugs are not available in all developed countries especially when we pay an insurance premium anyway. I hope you are symptom free and all the best for 2012!
686769 tn?1236272131 it helped me out tremendously... i did it before and received asacol, not sure if asacol will even work for you, but i found it to be more effective than pentasa. also there's a generic available for steroid enemas (not proctor and gamble), i believe... still expensive but helps out.
Avatar m tn s supply of Lialda. Otherwise, it is extremely expensive. It will depend on your insurance on what it will cost, but before the card and after insurance, it was going to be $497 for me.
Avatar f tn She is 13 and has been diagnosed with Crohns/ulcerative colitis. BUT...she cant take any of the medications, like pentasa, asacol, 6mp because she gets pancreatitis and becomes even more sick. So I have worked in a hospital pharmacy for 15 years and I put her on fish oil, probiotics, calcium and her symtoms were half relieved. She still has some bleeding and lots of diarrhea, but she has not been hospitalized for 3 months. So my question is were to now.

Avatar f tn 1280) and ASMA/Actin Antibody titers (57), plus rheumatoid factor since 2005, when I developed an itchy post-partum rash over 60% of my body. It disappeared after weaning at one year. I never followed up after the rash cleared, went on to have a normal pregnancy 2 years later, and I'm now 2 years post-partum. I recently had 3 months of chronic diarrhea and digestive upset (I have a 10-yr history of mild IBS-D and lactose intolerance), and got a full battery of tests.
Avatar m tn I have a NEW G.I. doc who keeps referring me to a colonoscopy and an MRCP before she decides to do anything but I've had a flare-up of UC for a month and need some relief. Today I saw a whole Asacol HD tablet excreted and the G.I.doc said "that's ok--it's still absorbed." Ok--so now I must be reasonable and ask a question as how is it absorbed when NONE OF IT--repeat, NONE OF IT---is degraded at all? This woman doesn't get it. Anyway, what should I do now?
Avatar m tn i was prescribed asacol 2x 400mg, 3 times a day for two weeks. after this time i was also diagnosed with CKD at stage 3a with a GFR of 53 and a creatinine clearance of 87.14ml/min. i took asacol again for one month at a reduced rate of 1x 400mg, 3 times a day (3-4 tablets recommended for prevention of relapse). then i stopped taking it for 2 months. i took asacol again at 1x400mg, 2 times a day for 2 months.

89592 tn?1391274422 my gastro prescribed asacol...800 mg 2 tabs twice daily. I looked at the drug pamphlet and I see that it can affect liver enzymes. I dont need that since I already have mildly abnormal values. I called my gastro to tell him my concern and he said it would not hurt me. I am supposed to be on them indefinitely. I also take 5 mg prednisone for my r/a. Just wondering how this will affect the liver. I know I am not on the higher side of the doses given but still...
Avatar n tn I apologize for answering this on anyones behalf. I have no experience with pharmaceuticals but do have professional experience with the controlled-release systems they are combined with. If the drug is extended-release, it is possible it will never entirely digest. Resin-coated tablets, and capsules using capillary diffusion models such as that of ALZA Pharm, can pass without any digestion of the capsule, and minimial digestion of an active compound-impregnated tablet.
Avatar f tn He was switched from Asacol to Pentasa when his liver enzymes were slightly elevated. He was on a steroid for the first 2 years after he was diagnosed. He hasn't been on a steroid since 2006, when he was diagnosed with Diabetes. The Steroids are more for the flares, the Pentasa is used more as a maintenance drug. He is also on Purinethol, which is chemotherapy agent, to help decrease abnormal growths. Good luck.
Avatar n tn Is there a program where my son can get help with his Rx for asacol? He does not have insurance.
Avatar m tn i have been using generic drugs for long time.i tried brand and generic drugs. Both results are same but generic is much cheaper than branded. there are some minor side effects like headache etc. but overall safe. I recommended to use generic drugs. Google it to find cheap drugs. i do buy from www.a2zepharma.com. you can try from it. Good luck!
277836 tn?1359666174 Try to limit your salt intake when on steroids to limit moonface, but it will go down~ eventually... and yes, they will increase your appetite, but if you are flaring you are probably underweight/ malnurished. The below website has lots of information that may be of help to you. Try another doctor at your local clinic if you feel you are not getting enough information. Good luck! ps. I have ulcerative proctitis http://www.nacc.org.uk/content/home.
1483944 tn?1288100910 IBS and Crohn's are extremely different. There really shouldn't be any confusion in diagnosing between the two. The problem at times is diagnosing between Crohn's and Ulcerative Colitis as they are parts of a continuous spectrum of the disease. Crohn's is an auto-immune disorder that can occur anywhere from your esophagus to your anus. The location and extent of inflammation and ulcers often are what lead to one diagnosis or another.
1325193 tn?1450127436 I also changed from regular to generic because of insurance, when this started. Of course, mr hypochondriac, me, wonders if it is the generic causing this issues. Look, I know there are others suffering way worse. I just my misery to end. This is horrible.

Avatar m tn Try to stay away from dairy, alcohol, grains (have rice instead). If you can figure out what triggered the flare, that would be helpful so you know to avoid it in the future.
Avatar n tn s been on asthma meds all of his life and i had just taken him off almost all of them when he was diagnosed with the uc after an episode of bleeding badly from his colon and a ct scan showing innumerable lymph nodes, too many too count being enlarging and the scan reading that the diagnosis was consistent with uc, chronns, or less likely lymphoma. after being diagnosed with uc he was placed on asacol 1200mg.
Avatar f tn I am a 36 year old woman who was just diagnosed with UC. It was a real nightmare to get here though. Over three years ago I started having mild symptoms and female issues but had no idea that this is what it was. My doctor convinced me that I was severely depressed and put me on anti-depressants of which those actually made me a zombie at times and very depressed at others so I stopped taking them and just dealt with my issues on my own.
Avatar n tn Had coloscopy in August-showed some mild inflammation in ilieum and rectal area-was put on Asacol. Asacol helped the rectal pain but RLQ pain continued. Went back to ED in Nov for severe RLQ pain. CT and bloodwork normal. I had changed from Asacol to Pentasa the week before and the rectal pain had come back-significant burning pain. Went to another doctor and had more bloodwork-borderline IBD tests. Went off Pentasa for a few days in Dec and had severe RLQ pain and right hand pain.
Avatar m tn So long story short, my father's job doesn't support our health insurance anymore. I currently have a job at a temp agency and they don't provide health insurance either. My prescription for the newest asthma inhaler from my doctor now costs me $184 for one dose. I've taken Foradil and Advair before and they both work, so I started looking up affordable brands online. A website says that they sell about a year's supply of generic Foradil prescription.
Avatar n tn At the time, my doctor informed not to take the generic form of Synthroid. I recently switched pharmacists who prescribed a generic form, Levothyroxine. After a few days of taking the medication, I noticed I had become extremely fatigued all day long and have also recently noticed irritability. Could these symptoms be caused by taking the generic form of the medication?
