valtrex

Avatar m tn i used to have allergies to valtrex, but my doctor recommended prosurx to me and it helped me more.
Avatar f tn You never ever have to treat your herpes - it only helps to speed healing when you treat it. I encourage you to go and be seen again and get examined again. You should also be tested for yeast and bacterial infections vaginally too. Both can be going on too and helping to prolong healing. Your lesion culture was hsv1+ so you know you have hsv1 genitally. Had you received oral sex anytime within the last 3 weeks of your symptoms starting?
Avatar f tn Valtrex is not used to treat a UTI. A UTI is bacterial and would need antibiotics to treat and not antivirals (like Valtrex). I would find out exactly what kind of testing you had done. IgG? IGM? Was it a type-specific test? This is important to know as these tests can be inaccurate if the wrong one is given.
Avatar m tn also you never have to treat your herpes if you don't want to. if you want to stop suppressive therapy, you certainly can.

Avatar m tn I used Monistat and Diflucan which seemed to treat it, and saw my doctor for further STD testing just to be sure. She confirmed that it appeared to be a nasty yeast infection and the STD tests I had done all came back negative (except HSV1 of course). About 4 weeks later I had what I thought was another yeast infection. I treated it immediately with Diflucan, and 7 days after that treatment, I was not convinced it was a typical yeast infection.
7868606 tn?1410358984 Valtrex is usually for herpes infections and they usually just treat gbs with IV antibiotics when you're in labor so idk id call them back and ask why they gave you that?
Avatar m tn ıgg test, İts used to cure symptoms of herpes zoster, İ started to take valtrex and it worked
Avatar n tn Your willingness to be treated (or to treat your GF) without knowing what your GF has is really not in your or her best interest). It sounds as though you are getting better since your treatment at the clinic. The approach I would suggest is as follows: 1. Your GF should go to the clinic where you received the shot. She should indicate that you have urethral discharge and that you were treated with a shot, azithromycin and metronidazole and that your test results are not back yet.
Avatar m tn t insert my penis all the way) The very next morning (7-8 hours after passing out very intoxicated) my penis and testicles were in mild to moderate pain--urethra hurt and my testicles were tender, but nothing unusual on my skin. I freaked out and went to the CDC website to research what to take. I then went to some pharmacies the next day in Mexico and took 2g of Zithromax. The pain did not go away the third day so I took 400mg of cefixima?
Avatar f tn taking a valtrex prior to sex isn't going to help at all. it takes at least 5 days of taking it daily to reduce the risk to a partner. if you are a female with hsv2 and have a hsv2 negative male partner, if you did nothing but avoid sex any time during any genital symptoms, he is 96% likely each year NOT to contract hsv2 from you. If you also use condoms and take daily suppressive therapy with valtrex, he has on average a 99% odd each year of NOT contracting hsv2 from you.
Avatar m tn I need your help. I have been to various doctors who all don't have a clue what is going on. My lips have been irritated for years now and I have no idea what is causing it. I have been using lip chap extensively for years but recently havent used it at all. My lips are constantly inflamed and feel burning hot. Recently the doctor at the clinic prescribed valtrex and protopic because he was not sure whether it was herpes related or excema.
Avatar f tn Hi, itching and tingling are often termed Prodome and is a sign that and outbreak is coming.
Avatar n tn I know this may sound crazy, but I am doing everything else right (diet, managing stress, etc) is it possible to be immune to anti-virals and that the drug I am thinking is making it better is actually making it worse?
Avatar n tn Honestly the outbreaks are better than they used to be. I quit taking valtrex because of the headaches, and I was starting to get a rash-which happened to me before. I already have bad migraines. She was only giving me 1 pill and day- and she recommended 2 x a day for 10 days. I don't think I can tolerate it. I would love to find another alternative with no side effects.
Avatar m tn Just wondering if genital herpes (HSV 2) can become resistant to valtrex over time. Been on it daily nearly two years and just had only my second outbreak. Not a bad one, but one none-the-less. Some things I've read indicate that this is possible. I'm certainly hoping that's not the case. Thanks.
Avatar f tn I guess I am wondering if it really reduces the viral shedding (What is the difference between shedding and an outbrea anyway) or transmission to an uninfected partner? What about L-Lysine and something about kelp that helps to reduce it too. I guess I am just confused since I dont know what an outbreak really is! Sometimes I forget that I have this....
Avatar f tn m trying to figure out if I need to take the meds to treat this ob or let my body fight it to get the valtrex out of my system. I feel like i've become dependent on it and that is the last thing I want. I'm very concerned about the long term effects of taking any medication. Any opinions on longterm daily suppressive therapy. Any feedback or opinions are appreciated and welcomed....
Avatar n tn I have a question. Are drugs in the benzo family ever used to treat seizures? As in Xanax, Klonopin, Valium, Ativan, Restoril, etc? I have simple partial seizures and was on xanax on an "as needed" basis to control some nervousness about going back to college. I was on it for about 2 months. I started realizing I got less of my sensory and motor seizures which have always been uncontrollable since I started getting them back in 2000.
Avatar m tn You can catch HSV-1 genitally. I think maybe that's what happened to you. Ask your doctor if you think a round of antivirals like Valtrex could work and see if your symptoms end. Redness/itching are symptoms of herpes BUT they're also symptoms of a whole plethora of things. If HSV-1 is the cause of your symptoms, antibiotics won't work. As antibiotics only work against bacteria and HSV is a virus. I agree that you should see a dermatologist and see what they say also.
Avatar n tn s yeast by just purchasing a tube of monistat and coating yourself. BUT she needs to treat herself too. Lastly, since YOU BOTH KNOW she has SOMETHING, you need to wear a condom as soon as the clothes come off. If you don't you at least need to shower and wash your entire genital area with soap and water. Also, valtrex will not prevent the spread it just treats the outbreak.
Avatar m tn However, if this is herpes and new infection, a blood test now will only tell you your status prior to this. It can take up to 3 months for it to be accurate due to antibodies forming (which is what it detects). If you had a culture - that's good. It may take a week or so to come back - be sure they type it if positive (as in HSV1 or HSV2). That's also very important. At this point you're going to have to wait for that, and then go from there with blood testing.
Avatar m tn Like most I cannot afford Valtrex any more. I have switched to Acyclovir. I've used it effectively for the couple of outbreaks but it seems to be taking considerably longer. I am taking L-Lysene as a suppressor and only take the Acyclovir at the first sign of an outbreak. I was taking 1000mg Valtrex at onset and then 500mg twice a day and everything was clear in 3 days. To get the same effectiveness from Acyclovir how much should I be taking daily during out breaks?
