I read somewhere that there are reports out there that Truvada along can clear hbsag at around 10% per year. Which is if true makes it the best antiviral option for us from what is available.
Lets share ideas on this.
The way I see it it is a powerful combo for hbv. 200mg of tdf and 200 emtricitabine.

Do you recommend the truvada over the viread or baraclude? If while being switched from Hepsera to truvada is there a risk that the Hep B could become active? Also , the Hepatitis B DNA is currently undetectable and the Hep B Surface AG is currently negative (both prior to transplant as well as post transplant, so far ) what are the chances that the Hep B could become active again once the Hbig infusions are stopped? So I had a discussion with my doctor yesterday regarding the recent elevation in my AST, ALT ( about 1.5 x ULN). I am LAM resistance, on Truvada for almost 2 years now. Everything else (HBV DNA undetectable, ultrasound ok, CBC, fibroscan + all other stuff i have no idea) came back normal. AST + ALT was in normal range all the time but 3 months recently have been up a bit.
She advised me to continue monitoring my condition and warn me about possible resistance.

I had sex in a night club with a guy I don't know. I was very drunk and I'm not sure if we used condom or not - I've been trying to remember that moment, but it's quite impossible to trust my mind after many days. I was bottom and we had a short penetration, because I felt too much pain. But I'm not sure if there was ejaculation or not, I couldn't find the guy in the club later that night and I have no contact with him at all.
What is the probability that I got HIV if he is on truvada and we used a condom? He mentioned he is not rcontagious n has the least aggressive form of HIV. He's been on treatment for 29 years and is undetectable. I just want to know what r the chances I got it that night, we only had protected vaginal intercourse.
Stefan. Well this is where it is all going to. Truvada for us. When I was over at UCLA Aids center here in LA six years ago they wanted to give me truvada.
In all fairness these hiv infections disease docs know more then the gastro guys that treat us. because they treat patients who sometimes have hiv hbv and hcv infections.
But again for us nucs are not needed. They slow down cell growth. Nucs were developed originally for cancer exactly because of it.
I went to health care center today, and explained the situation to doctor
I did a rapid test there as control, and which is negative. and then doctor prescribed me Truvada as PEP for a month, and asked me to do a RNA after finish the Truvada.
I keep searching "Effectiveness of Truvada alone as PEP" in internet, I am not sure if this is a normal practice for issuing Truvada alone.
Because NUCS toxicity is a big theme with HIV folks and from what I have read on their forums people say Truvada is very tolerable. that is from people that were on Tenofovir and other drugs.
So talk with your doctor and see what he thinks.. maybe you can do a year of Truvada and see what happens.. that way you will have a sequential treatment anyway that is being emphasized in a research settings.
Adding Zadaxin to an antiviral could be great also.
I ( from Asian) have been diagnosed chronic hepatitis B for more than 15 years. HBsAg is positive. Anti-HBs is negative, HBeAg is positive.Anti-HBe is negative. Anti-HBc is positive too. HBV-DNA has been in 10^7 to 10^8 over the years. My ALT typically is around 20-40. I have been in the immune tolerant state till 2008. But, in recent 2-3 years, my enzyme level starts to increase. I have done routine Ultrasound examination yearly, but everything is normal.
Your hepatologist is wrong, there is very little chance that other, new HBV drugs will come out now for a long time, that could overcome a LAM/TDF/ETV resistance. Once the routine will be to treat patients with combos from the start, resistance development will dramatically be lowered, in particular if the super-combos are used from day one.
