Avatar n tn Hi Mare, I am also diabetic (7 years, the last 2 insulin dependent). I was treated with Glipizide, glyburide, lasix, glucophage, several others. They all have warnings against alcohol. I disagree with Pointman, however, about having your husband stop alcohol completely. One glass of beer or wine is not excessive. I do agree that what is most important is your husbands blood sugar level, that he manages his numbers.

Avatar n tn There's a post by Gus who asked the same question yesterday. Diabetes medicine Metformin helps to produce insulin in the gut to "help" lower your glucose levels. It doesn't perform miracles nor does it lower your glucose levels by itself. The key word is "help." Lifestyle change is required. This is done by controlling your glucose levels with proper nutrition, moderate exercise, and weight control. Read my posts in the threads from Darkestlight and Gus on this forum.

541196 tn?1293552936 speak with the radiology department where your MRI is scheduled to see their procedure. Depending on the contrast being used, some will want you to be off any medication with Metformin for 2 days prior and after the procedure. Check in with them to be sure.MRIs are sometimes not included in that group, usually it is concerning CAT scans. In regard to the vision changes: your doctor should specify what kind of vision changes are in question.
758444 tn?1234028617 I would love to find a non addictive form of medication for anxiety. To me they are all the one. Only some are longer lasting. Like Klonopin. It is used for more lasting anxiety sufferers. Not a quick fix for an anxiety attack. But if you ever have to come off it, well, it is the same old problem. Weaning and withdrawls. Just like every other form of medication. Just a case of which one can be used, without losing tolerance, for the longest amount of time. Klonopin wins that race.
541196 tn?1293552936 t seem to have much of a response to it. However he did add yet another medication to my list besides the antibiotic for the toe... Listrol or something like that for High Blood pressure. 155/95 is where I have been for a few months to a year. I feel like I'm about to turn 80 not 30.
Avatar m tn So before checking the date, I took one dose of chloraseptic spray that expired eight years ago. It didn't really work at all, but is that the only problem I face? Could there be any problems that arise from taking that type of medicine that long after its date? Thanks.
1441125 tn?1284071885 Metformin works when properly taken. You must, however, adhere to diabetes nutritional guidelines and exercise on a regular basis for it to do its job. Personally speaking Metformin and cinnamon have no side effects when taken simultaneously. Does cinnamon help lower my glucose levels? Yes, in some ways it does. Will it work for you? Yes/no. Cinnamon works for some people and not for others...won't hurt to try but bear in mind you may not see any changes for 3-4 months down the road.
Avatar n tn Thanks for your response. I have type 2. My last HA1c was 8.1 and I am now using Janumet. I do suppose a dietitian is the right way to go. Thanks again.

Avatar f tn What antihistamines have you used? It wasn't an antihistamine with a decongestant or Benadryl was it? Singulair can be used for Allergic Rhinitis like you have, however, this is usually prescribed for someone with Asthma issues secondary to Allergic Rhinitis. What nasal steroid are you using? Most of them can be used long term.

Avatar f tn after reading so many good things about the surgery and in both cases I was almost laughed out of the office. The last doctor told me that it is used about as much as "leaches". I couldn't understand this as I have read of girls undgergoing the procedure within the past year. My doc is opting to do a hysterectomy- Do you feel this would help along with testosterone blocking meds and estrogen replacement? Thank you so very very much for your time.
Avatar f tn When you can't sleep from the withdrawals, I've been told that Trazadone is a good choice for sleep because it isn't a controlled substance, etc. What is the story with this medication?
