mobic

Avatar m tn I don't think Meloxicam is a good choice for anyone , it will ruin your kidney like mine, I was told by a kidney doctor to stop taking them they were ruining my kidneys. I have been taking Meloxicam for years for arthritis. Now I have stage 4 kidney disease. Stage 5 is kidney transplant or dialyses. it's your choice.
1044813 tn?1370494406 Sure, we can add Mobic/Meloxicam to the Pain Tracker for you. In the meantime, please use NSAIDs, since meloxicam is a type of NSAID and this is already available on the tracker.
Avatar f tn If that is what it is used for then it's not working on me, I am trying to detox from methadone, so I can try other pain treatments, and I still have severe withdrawal symptoms.
Avatar m tn So, if you do not have GI bleeding or an ulcer, you may want to ask your doctor about other NSAIDS. Mobic (the generic name is meloxicam) is a great alternative, because it is generic and has less GI/ulcer problems than most of the NSAIDS. Ultimately, you should see what your doctor thinks is best for you. If your doctor insists on Celebrex, you may want to contact the company and see if they have any discount coupons that your pharmacy can process. Many companies do this.
1305767 tn?1361192676 Is it safe to take ibuprofen in the same day as Meloxicam? I take 15 mg of the Meloxicam in the morning for pain but need additional pain relief later in the day and I know that both drugs are NSAID so I don't want to accidentally overdose.
Avatar m tn Found out the Meloxicam and Vicodin didn't agree well with my body together. The Dr. took me off Meloxicam and put me on a steroid (Prednisone). Its only been a couple of days but I already feel better and the night fevers and crazy night sweats are pretty much gone.
Avatar m tn Daily use of NSAIDs over a long term, can have serious side effects and is not recommended.Substituting, another NSAID is not the answer. If you truly have developed post-traumatic arthritis as a result of previous meniscus injury, there are several alternatives. Viscosupplementation with hyluronate injections, such as Synvisc, can be very helpful. Natural anti-inflammatories such as Glucosamine or Omega-3 are very useful alternatives.
1920386 tn?1323282549 Pain is perceived and handled differently by each of us. The same is true for how we respond to medications. If NSAIDs are not effectively controlling your pain, I encourage you to discuss this with your treating physician. You deserve to be comfortable although we all must learn to live with a degree of pain....l which it sounds like you doing. Are you not a candidate for a repair? That would obviously be the solution to your pain. I would also discuss that possibility with a surgeon.
1308443 tn?1302693321 I have done PT, bracing and taken so many NSAIDs that they no longer work. Meloxicam didn't even make a difference. Mom doesn't want me to have surgery. Is there anything else I can do?
Avatar m tn Mostly I'd like to say hello to all on this forum. I'm already a member of the Anxiety and Depression forums. After two months, almost, of tests and seeing various doctors and specialist, I've been diagnosed with Osteo Arthritis in the lower back and right hip. For this I've been prescribed Meloxicam/Mobic for the pain and inflamation. The data sheet that came with the prescription details some pretty nasty potential side effects.
Avatar m tn Hello Flowr, I understand your hesitancy to take Meloxicam. Meloxicam is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) with analgesic and fever reducer effects. It's often used in Arthritic and inflammatory conditions. However any NSAID comes with concerns - including OTC NSAIDs such as Ibuprofen. Several years ago Glucosamine & Chondroitin was popular with medical providers. It was hailed as the new and one of the best "treatments" for restoring cartilage and reducing pain.

1256021 tn?1269377814 i have one ice treatments and heat dont help either!! what do i do to help relieve my pain and what do you think is wrong with me?
Avatar m tn Thank you Doctor, I still take the NSAIDS and they seem to get my prostate4 under control. But what concerns me is that every few days, mostly the right side at the base of my penis/spermatic cord becomes very tender and sore and then I get spikes of pain that radiate at the top of my spermatic cord, especially if I sneeze or cough. I have been checked several times for hernia with nothing found. What is happening?
Avatar m tn I've been on 3 10/500 hydros /day for the last 2 years, I'm pretty strict with only taking that many. They're prescribed for severe Rheumatoid Arthritis and Fibromyalgia, the pain is really intense. Anyway, I tried to stop taking them once, to see how badly I was hooked and I went into DTs after 2 days; shakes, the runs, insomnia, and anxiety.
Avatar m tn I took meloxicam daily for a year and noticed that it elevated my blood pressure. The trouble with these NSAIDS (non-steroidal anti-inflmmatory) meds is that they all increase the risk of stroke and other cardiovascular events, although naproxen (Aleve) is thought to be less risky. I read that diclofenac sodium (aka Voltaren) is considered one of the most toxic NSAIDs. I have found that getting more exercise helps relieve my back and neck pain and water exercise is the best. Have you tried it?
Avatar n tn Your creatinine is still high because you likely have chronic kidney disease from the hypertension. The Telmisartan-HCTZ that was given will not make your creatinine low, it is to treat your hypertension and prevent further damage to your kidneys. It is also possible you have some protein in your urine which the Telmisartan helps to reduce. Also, Telmisartan can cause a slight increase in your creatinine but it is usually not a very significant increase.
175688 tn?1297556647 My wife is pregnant and is taking meloxicam for breathing. She is also having problems sleeping. Can you take both meloxicam and a sleep aid that is safe for the baby? I really need to find this out, hopefully by tonight.
Avatar f tn Depending on what kind of damage there is in your spine from the herniated discs you may or may not get much relief from it, but you won't know until you try. If there is nerve damage involved, it may not help much but I know people who have herniated discs who didn't even know they had them since there was relatively no pain involved with them. Strange, I know, but that's how it goes sometimes.
Avatar f tn The thing you have to consider is what IS that reason? Do they have a battle plan in mind that might take a while to come to fruition, during which time there is an adjustment period where it might seem as though the meds are not working? Do they, for some reason, not feel that a given person is not a good candidate for opiate therapy? Do they not believe in opiate therapy as a viable option PERIOD, and therefore don't prescribe them to ANYONE?
Avatar m tn JDeeziac is right go get a mri and see a neurologist. The numbness is a nerve being damaged and can become permanent if not taken care of properly. I know, I only have 22% of the feeling from my waist down because I ignored my back. You don't want to regret this for the rest of your life. Believe it or not even with damaged nerves the pain can get worse and there is no pain meds that completely help with nerve pain. Best of luck to you. Please get checked soon.
Avatar n tn So any type of allergic reaction which is mild earlier may pose as life threatening after surgery. So it is better to openly discuss with your doctor, your allergy to NSAID’s so that the doctors can switch on to some other pain killers. Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted in case of additional queries.
Avatar f tn Thanks Selma. I took Meloxicam for a couple weeks when I developed some tendonitis issues. Based on conversations with my doctors, I think it was the NSAIDS that triggered this flare. I haven't taken any NSAIDS for over 3 weeks now, but unfortunately I'm still having the symptoms. You are right about stress being a factor though.
Avatar f tn Proteases help reduce inflammation, clean out debris and infection, and stimulate healing. The can result in clean, yet exposed tissue that is very sensitive. Think of a sizable infected wound on a skinned knee that just won't heal. The wound is sensitive and inflammed. It's raw. Nerves are exposed. As you attempt to clean it out and remove the cruddy infected tissue, it hurts. The raw nerves are exposed. It might also bleed a little.
